Off Topic / Re: Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross
01 December, 2008, 07:19:47 PM
I know I'll just be repeating what most said here already but here's my opinion. Jonathan Ross is not a comedian and I don't think he has ever tried to make himself out to be one so his inclusion on a list like this is pointless. Russell Brand is a different matter, he tries to be funny but I for one have never thought so, but I'll give him some credit for an excellent documentary he did on "On the Road".
Peter Kay – what, I never once found him funny and have heard he is not a nice person at all. He has a holiday home in Ireland and has been known to refuse to sign autographs and make people delete pictures of him if he sees them taking one of him.
Lee Evans – a buffoon who sweats a lot and jumps round stage. Still to figure out his appeal
Alan Carr – Not in the slightest bit funny

People I find funny are the likes of:
Harry Hill – The most enjoyable half hour of television each week.
Stewart Lee – Very entertaining. Still remember him for Sunday morning and This Morning With Richard Not Judy (TMWRNJ)
Jimmy Carr – Simply brilliant with sharp short jokes
Bill Bailey – Made Never Mind the Buzzcocks great

Film & TV / Re: Film encyclopaedias

Got a Halliwells encyclopedia myself, and while I find great for referencing nearly all films irrelevant of age, type or language the detail given on some of the films is marginal at best. But despite this I think it the complete encyclopedia causing it to be very bulky.

Film & TV / Re: BBC to remake 'Survivors'
24 November, 2008, 07:24:19 PM
Well I enjoyed it. Kept me interested throughout despite some minor annoyances, most mentioned here already, the main one bein the petrol bit.
The characters seem interesting and the end had a twist I wasn't expecting.
Hopefully this will be better then Last Train which started promising, but failed to show anything new or inventive in the following episodes and had a end that irritated me immensely.

I total agreement with Tweaks comments.
No Judge Death as I can't see any way that he could come off as menacing as he was in the early stories. If were looking for a story as a introduction into MC1 then Block Mania is perfect and sets up Apocalypse War as a sequel.

Film & TV / Re: Star Trek (2009) full trailer
17 November, 2008, 07:26:25 PM
I grew up with TNG and think that the acting was a large part of why I enjoyed it but I do remember some jumping the shark moments like the 'second' Riker, which had a tendency to irritate me.
DS9 started poor as if the writers were still trying to figure what the show was going to be about, but after it found its feet was fantastic because it had an ongoing story which actually involved people and provided massive character development through out it run, this is on thing Voyager failed to do.
Voyager had many grate episodes as was said already but these were scattered erratically through it.
I also enjoyed Enterprise but found the final series was very rushed once it was canceled.

Film & TV / Re: NEW AMAZING WATCHMEN TRAILER...
14 November, 2008, 06:39:05 PM
That was very near perfect.
I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far and I for one think they are going to do something not many people thought was possible this time last year and make a realy good, accurate film.

Sounds good, I've started writing a book a few times in the last two years but have never had the motivation to finish it. I'm also one of the world's slowest typists, so this won't help.

Film & TV / Re: Spielberg & Smith to remake Oldboy

Very surprised that Hollywood would even risk something as graphic and shocking as this.
I'm a big fan of the film only discovering it in the last couple of years, but I dread to think what a Hollywood remake would end up like, especially with such a bankable director and star already attached.

I'm thinking this is Nikoli's amazing escape, but whatever it is it looks fantastic.
