General / Brian Bolland: He Draws The Law
04 April, 2013, 10:03:44 AM
Just got hold of this. Any idea where is comes from.
I can only assume it's a Forbidden Planet type product but I'm probably wrong.

It contains A4 sized reproductions of Bolland's work including covers to Amazing Heroes, Time Out (both featuring Dredd), Comic Showcase advert (Joker), Forbidden Planet ads, Green Lantern and Superman covers plus a rather nifty naked lady drawing in the centre spread.

Anyone else got one? Where's it from? And how much, if anything, is it worth?

Cheers

One of the greatest directors of all time.

Jess Franco RIP

:'(

Great? Hmmmm. Certainly mad as a box of frogs and often did reasonably well with a very limited budget but I think great may be stretching it a bit.

Still, glad he got to see the release of his final film. I haven't seen it yet but the fact that he died the day after it came out does not bode well.  ;)

He did helm one of the best adaptations of Dracula and his Virgin Among The Living Dead is fascinating.

I think the death of Linda Romay last year may just have hastened his departure.

Farewell Jess.

It is the interest bit isn't it. Thing is people think if the schools don't teach it it can't be important. I blame the parents.
I'd say most of the things I learnt through my education was in addition to my schoolwork. I read books, I took an interest in the world around me, later on I watched documentaries, read newspapers, watched the news.  I did that all on my own but my parents had instilled the reading bug in me from an early age.
The librarianship thing was all me years later :P

Yeah, good point.  My colleagues continually ask me 'how do you know that?!?' and my answer almost always is 'I read it in a book.'

I read a book once. It were green.

Football.........watching, not playing!

Same. 50% of my time and money is spent travelling watching Spurs play home and away. Swansea this weekend. 8 hour round trip just to, more than likely, see Spurs lose.

Still, beats sitting at home.

An inch here in Cambridgshire this morning with it still coming down pretty heavy. Weather report says it's due to continue until Sunday morning.
Just glad there is no football this weekend. Off to Swansea next Saturday.

I saw that when I was looking at other listings for a guide to pricing.

It's why I included Scream in the title of my eBay listing.

You're right. It's a canny bit of work

Ending tomorrow if anyone is interested.

I sell second hand books and comics, and ocasionally get people in trying to sell complete partworks.

Are any of them worth your time to sell on? I think the recent Marvel Graphic Novel collection is decent as far as partworks goes, but you're still talking £600 once complete and a lot saved buying the paperback versions.

I think the Marvel Graphic Novel Collection is the only one worth buying. For me books are always good value for money.
These are well produced and are the same price as a paperback volume of the same title (sometimes cheaper).

Yeah I guess you're right when you compare new RRP prices, they've still did naughty things like split up Planet Hulk into two books so it'd cost you twice the price & without the bonus material.

Very true, but for the most part they represent value for money. And they are very pretty  :-[
