Prog 72 cursed earth chapter 12 - 7 pages mick mcmahon + cover
Prog 77 cursed earth chaper 17 - 6 pages brian bolland + cover

Prog 500 thargs head revisited (original) 1 page brian bolland

Is there any other pages that can't be reprinted for odd reasons?

General / The future reprinting of 2000ad
12 November, 2013, 09:00:34 PM
'I'm not reading Halo Jones. It's old. It's even not in colour'

My 11 year old daughter refuses to read alan moore's classic but here's the thing. She's being honest. And maybe representative of a new generation.

I know IDW are doing dredd classics coloured but surely Halo could sell loads more in a fully coloured format.

So when will we see all these classics remastered?

Other Reviews / Beyond 2000ad - buy it now
12 November, 2013, 07:58:44 PM
Just read it from cover to cover in a couple of enjoyable hours.

This is a fantastic look at 2000ad/ipc related comics. A real highlight was a very complete review of the US reprints of 2000ad (explaining how exactly some of those bizarre covers and stretched interiors came about). There's very cool interviews about Strontium Dog's creation and a fantastically titled chapter 'How Starlord rescued 2000ad'.

I bought the digital download for £2.50 from Comicsy and this is the best fanzine i have read. It's more like missing chapters from Thrill Power Overload.

Now i've got to track down the issues of Legends of the Law where Dredd first meets Anderson. See that's what a great fanzine does - it realises there's stuff you still didnt know! Thanks MaryandDavid / Hibernia.

Help! / IDW Artist Edition - Brian Bolland
25 July, 2013, 04:45:12 PM
Hi guys

Obviously IDW have done the complete Judge Dredd Brian Bolland.
I was listening to a 2000ad podcast with Simon Fraser where this was referred to as 'Bolland artist edition of Judge Death' as in one of those huge scanned from the original art
So question

1) Was this ever planned as an Artists Edition?
2) Was the difficulty in track down the OA the problem?
(I don't want to stoke the stolen BB art issue so please don't dwell on that)

General / Ian Gibson - is this anyone on here's?

It made me smile.
There must be a story here!

See Classified for my begging.
I've put the word 'buggered' in the title to help draw your attention to it.

i'm hoping to start binding these comics in the next month and I've discovered some horrible sights in two early progs.

My prog 7 has paint on its centre-spread - literally like someone constructed an Airfix model spitfire and let all the paint run over Dan Dare

My prog 10 has the back cover chopped off.

So basically I need the inside of prog 7 and the outside of prog 10. If anyone has either of these I will pay/borrow/steal as long as its cheap as I can't afford to pay for a NM version. Bizarrely in my collection I have found:

Prog 8 perfect but missing back page (same bastard as above)
Prog 9 same issue
And Prog 3 inside but missing cover (i.e. what I need for Prog 7!)
if these help *anyone I'll send them for postage costs

Mat

* sorry any regular boarder who has 50+ posts

I recall reading that these two phonebooks got issued in the 2000's through the online shop only and mired in printing problems.

Can anyone give me the title? I have found them before in previous comments but cant find the link.

Trying to do something similar myself so particularly interested in hearing from anyone who actually has one in their cellar (other storage rooms are available)

My mate Jeff runs the NICE comic convention which returns to a new location - last year he got Alan Moore to appear.

Check out his website going live tomorrow

http://nicecon.co.uk

Here's a cheeky incentive to have a look. You can WIN a copy of the 'movie' issue of 2000ad, prog 1799 with Karl Urban on the cover signed by John Wagner, Alan Grant, Book Cook and Ben Wilsherr.

To be in to win, just post below the name of an artist or writer appearing at NICE in 2013. Only first unique answers count. So no duplications, go back to the site and find a new talent to list AND only one entry per registered user. So if you put Alan Moore (incorrect but go with me) no-one else can enter by mentioning the bearded one.

Live draw of all unique correct answers made end of play bank holiday monday.

The signed prog will be posted anywhere in the world with proof of postage but no insurance. This is just for fun and not in anyway associated with the fine people at Rebellion who i beg retrospectively to let this run! It was a nice condition prog but bear in mind it has been in the hands of four of 2000ads biggest talents. photo attached.

Off Topic / Best RANDOM convention experience
19 March, 2013, 08:31:06 PM
I only came back to  2000 ad with prog 1630 which was the zombo issue ( i may be a few or even 100 progs out here so be kind and i hadnt read the comic since there was an acrylic paint surplus and everyone had to use it. Mainly brown.

So at Bristol 2009 i dont have a whole lot to chat about some bloke called Al Ewing whilst im clearly waiting for a PROPER artist to sketch for me. He takes my sketch book and does this on the back reverse page.

Still reading 2000ad 4 year later because of Al and Zombo.

Any else got a random convention experience?

Hi guys
I need the following to make 2 bound volumes of 2000ad
It doesn't matter if the spines are knackered - they won't be seen. I'll accept newsagents marks.

Prog 7 - need the whole prog or just a replacement centre-spread
Prog 10
Progs 31 - 50

Let me know - I'm sure some of you have got doubles! triples!

Suggestions / Live chat room here
03 March, 2013, 09:00:27 PM
Be great if rather than just post you could drop into a chat room portal here.

While im full of ideas being able to order prints of any page/cover would be cool.

And stocking the shop with the odd signed copes would be a nice subscriber first incentive

Also digitally would be much more attractive if you could read stories in their series rather than just each weekly.

Too much scanning / iPhoto
But I'm really pleased, its the first 18 month DD from new Eagle
All the Ian Kennedy spreads match up without gutter loss
and I know some people on here are passionate about the spines!
#95
Through a comedy of expensive errors I've ended up buying a copy of this book at £25+

It has used and has lightly dog-eared covers but still otherwise nice and tight.

Would anyone want to swap it for something interesting?

Things I'd like
A set of Dare the Impossible (to try and get the Gibson Dan Dare) Quality comics
Any progs 31 - 50 in knackered condition as long as the right hand edge is neat (for binding) spine can be knackered as long as intact
Any odd convention sketch you no longer fancy
Other 2000ad oddities?
PM me - i know this is random

Help! / 2nd help with Dan Dare...
20 January, 2013, 09:42:06 PM
3) The final 3 years of Eagle monthly had Dan Dare drawn by (Slaine artist) David Pugh. The design for Professor Peabody look identical to the AVT designs for the character by Ewins/McCarthy. Has this ever been acknowledged, i.e. Was Tom Tully asked to use them?

4) Pat Mills refers to a Dan Dare movie lining up Gareth Hunt. The ATV series was meant to feature Jamie Fox. Was one a distillation of the other project, or were there two Dare projects at the same time in 1980-81.

Thanks for any help

Help! / Help with Dan Dare...
20 January, 2013, 09:36:30 PM
1. Can anyone find a working link to Chris Weston interviewing Ian Kennedy - I'd like a nice quote for my new book

2. The Dan Dare aborted ATV series pushed chromatography (very early blue screen technology) a year later Captain Zep came out on BBC. Anyone else consider a) that this is what it would of looked like, or b) was this the same talent getting a series out once the license had expired?

Help! / Durham Red books with gatefold bit
04 October, 2012, 05:26:43 PM
Hi guys

I wanted to collect the Durham Red / Harrison books but want to get the versions with the half gatefold covers just so it matches the ones I've got. Anyone know how I can tell the difference - is the ISBN the same? Just wanted to check so I can find them on amazon/eBay.

I know its pedantry!

Books & Comics / Eagle comics 1987 to 89
12 August, 2012, 07:02:12 AM
Bought a big stack for my brother.

Some odditiies. Doomlord holds a show at the London Palladium coming onstage as a 'Bad' Michael Jackson.
He takes requests from the audience and turns into the Mekon for the next 3 issues getting a cover as him!

Simon Harrison, John Higgins and glen fabry all do a cover.

Most strange is Comrad Bronski strip by Carlos Esquerra. Was he really doing this rather than 2000 or is this an old reprint?

Really well thought through offers of back issues with subscriptions
New progs 1.99
There an 80 page free taster.
PJ spotted it before me, check his twitter feed for a link or go iTunes 2000as or via newsstand.

Now do I go paper next time?....
