Finally got back the last four books and a book case today.

I've now got 1 - 519 in bound volumes thanks to Chiefy2shoes (for inspiration) and Hollingsworth & Moss bookbinders (for perspiration)

But no more, ever. (Maybe not never. I do like the Meg vol 1!)

Really would recommend the binders and also iPost as a cheap method to get them there.

I think its the other way. Dredd is mortified at having to put his hand round Anderson.
You get the sense he's so conditioned against contact its really out of his comfort zone but practically they have to be 'one' to enter the shield.

This should be classic. The Space Spinner episode where they discuss Bill's vilest deeds (Locking the doors on a factory, filling it with acid and then letting the skeleton flow out) was hilarious.

Yes, think the readership of the UC will be approx. 80% us lot i.e existing fanbase, 10% lapsed 2000ad readers and 10% new peeps.

Nope. Cant be.
1) Not enough of us
2) Rebellion could have done that itself

Now 90% new peeps/lapsed readers I'd believe

They have to do the 80 issues or they'll leave a lot of angry unfinished spines.

I may have been a bit too defensive of the Horned God. Yup must of 'us' already have it but this is really about the mainstream. Guys who maybe haven't bought a comic for 20 years but love a bit of Marvel at the cinema and wouldn't mind a 'quirky' collection of comics from their youth.

A guy on the train recognised Rogue Trooper from my Southern Contingent t-shirt and could remember all the chip's names and the planet etc.
"Do you buy 2000ad?" I asked
"What? Is that still going?" He replied. Zero interest in new stuff but hardback of ole Rogue and he's got the Direct Debate happily set-up.

I think this is aimed at him.

She drew a fun cover for me if they ever collect Pat's run on Dan Dare.

But imagine her on Dan Dare!

Hey in the Eagle comic reprint of the Dark Judges, they put in an extra speech bubble when Anderson grabds Dredd waist, so at least things even out.

I cant find a scan. I'm sure someone else can.

The cynic in me suspects that Slaine has proven to be an unpopular choice as a launch title, and distributors are trying to maximise sales before replacing it with Halo Jones (which will undoubtedly fly off the shelves -- even at the higher price point).

I can't really let that unfounded comment go. Slaine Horned God is one, if not the, best selling reprint 2000ad has ever done. Its an incredible well regarded book and uniquely benefits from having better printing than the original issues. It will sell 5 times the other books at the 1.99p price point and because every new subscriber will definitely start with this issue.

I love Halo and think historically it has huge significance as a feminist book (and just a great story) but Slaine HG is about as popular as it gets. Pat Mills referred to the low price but said he was assured his royalties would be boosted by the incredibly high print run.

I think we all take our hats off to you.

The amazing 'Slaine: Horned God" trailer was also incredible and I never heard any more about what it was intended for or if it achieved its aims.

I think the work both have done is utterly beyond the old definition of fan film but then I guess cosplay has made a massive leap forwards as well.

Rogue seems the obvious one both for a fan film or a feature.

News / Millarworld buys Netflix - correction
07 September, 2017, 04:11:35 PM
In a correction to a previously reported story, Scotland author Mark Millar has in fact bought the online broadcaster for an undisclosed sum.

In a clarification interview Mark explained "It all got very confusing. I brought suitcases full of cash, so did the lawyers from Netflix and each of us thought we were buying the other one out".

An otherwise uncharacteristically tight-lipped Millar would initially not give away his plans for the company. However after downing two bottles of Whiskey and an Irn Bru Soda Stream concentrate, he shouted 'RED RAZORS the MOVIE meets BIG DAVE'.

(mods please delete this cheap joke at your leisure)

The elephant in the room is Carrie Fisher's death.
It was always going to mean massive problems for this episode.

Marvel get some real stick for 'promoting the next movie in the last one' and 'building a universe' at the expense of the individual story.

I would have preferred Ant-Man without the Falcon appearance, but that really paid off in Civil War.
I thought the Black Widow was forced in Iron Man 2, but that meant Avengers could start with her tied to a chair.
Weird Thor scene in Age of Ultron, jury is still out - that's going to need some pay-off in Ragnarok as it was awful and Loki-lite

I dont really care for what DC are doing (WW aside which was a B+ at best). Or 20th Century Fox with the X-Men. But Marvel are on fire.

Perhaps Marvels Cinematic success means Comics are now second in the larger scale of things.

Completely agree. I love the MCU. It's got everything I want. I'm interested in whether RDJ will stay on as Iron Man. No comic can give me that but I used to get it from both 616 and Ultimate Universe in the Bendis run up to Secret Invasion.

DC I love Snyder but blimey they pumped him for events. And the Frank Miller stuff is just so retro-duff.
