I've had a think about it.

I think the Super Convention was a bit flat because... the Comic Industry (mainly DC & Marvel) just haven't given the mainstream anything to get really excited for quite a number of years.

Saga is probably the last really 100% hot release I can think of.

Marvel have failed to get any benefit from the movies (no real way 'in' there - no movie comic series) and DC have now rebooted twice and the boost that gives comes with a bust.

I think at the heart the mainstream product has just been too weak for too long. And I hate the Watchmen riffs coming now.

The etiquette here is either offer items at a price, or link to an eBay auction.

It's a marketing ploy.
Unless you buy the whole set you end up with a shelf of non sequential numbers and slithers of the spine image with lots of gaps.

Thanks
I've also just found his son on twitter. Must be weird to get requests for your dad or pretty cool!

I once heard a story about an entry level editors job that was advertised in the Guardian.
It was a perfect first job for every single media graduate.

They got over 800 applications (this was in the day's of mail) that sat in two big brown bags.
My friend was a PA who's job was to whittle them down to a shortlist of 20.

She told her boss she didn't know where to start with so many entries.

He told her to put one bag straight in the skip.
She said 'but the best application might be in there'

He said he only hired lucky people - and that bag wasn't lucky.

i think the point of this story is when you go for a highly desired or 'trophy' job, expect the competition to be fierce and that you have to some degree be lucky as well.

I wanted to send him something to sign.
I vaguely remember his son on twitter.
Anyone got anything?

Bendis was a on great form and an amazing guest so was Terry Dodson.

Not thrilled to turn up at the start of the day and be told all the Bendis signature tickets had been handed out - presumably the day before.

Bendis agreed to do an additional signing anyway so left very happy

Really odd stopping the vendors at 2PM - only opened to the public at 10.30 so hey a 3.5 hour con.

Got lovely sketch from DANI, chatted to Chris Weston. And the 2000ad had a bit of a fire sale so bought loads of Books and the full Boo Cook print heavily discounted.

Thanks to Simon for getting my Rogue Trooper signed. Eamon and Steve Green also good to meet up with especially as Eamon presented me with a Mega City Book Club coaster. He won't read this until midnight as I'm sure he'll be uploading a lot of signed charity items to eBay for which he is a legend.

well this is awkward

I think he must have meant to list this at £6.50

But to correct this now would reveal '50inthecubes' is really the eBay seller 'googam79'
and not the someone else.

So the only thing to do is let the bid run out with no bidders.

I was at Forbidden Planet and Boo was on good form and kindly acknowledged the only things by in the book he had done was the spine. He had noticed the feet would all be cropped.

There are some interesting differences between the promo foldout poster and the final one.
- the final one is only 2/3 the size of the promo
- SinDex are added to the roster of featured characters
- Belt buckle, hip flask and blitz spear parking signed all swapped out
- 'Retrospective articles' now feature in Bonus section (Stephen Jewell essay in this one)

What's the fold-out poster?
In the trial it was this one

I'd quite like them just as my interest has been piqued by a story judged to sit alongside Strontium, Rogue and Dante that I've never read.

Send me a PM. Happy if they are creased (if they are too new they won't match the rest of my stuff).

Confirmed on the Forbidden Planet site, you will get a poster of Boo's artwork.
Not sure if this is the usual poster you'd get with issue one
or something produced for the event.

Glad you can make it.

There are oddly no droids signing at the 2000ad stand. Got confirmation in a tweet.
Still as they pointed out a number of 2000ad creators in attendance.
