Alan was kind enough to sign this under Dave Gibbons.

I noticed it said watchmen the movie.com later.

Alan has always supported Steve Moore's work.
I think this was in tribute to him.

As someone who's seen Alan give a moving reading at Northampton Museum, only for the first person to go up with a Watchmen clock to sign - I can understand his position.

He was, of course, perfectly polite to the clock bearer.
I'd rather have his signature in the Bumper Book of Magic in 2019!

I've never rated the Specials or the Annuals. Certainly early on they seems dogged by text stories and oddity fillers like Rick Random (?) so I'm only doing the progs.

Please share any new binds / insights and I'll share my new ones once done.

Why did he have a spoon behind the bar?

Was it his lucky spoon?

Just a random spoon?

Were spooning euphemisms involved?

This is how I was going to split them
26 progs a book, so 52 a year.

But that means the 'birthday issues' would be last in a book, when regularly they are celebrated with new stories. So from 156 I was going to drop an issue so I could start a new book with it.

So now the complication is that I think 110 - 127 would be best bound on their own as all a different size, meaning that the issue count either side would have to be larger to take up the slack.

Matt of the Spurs - belatedly, yes I used a die stamp created by someone else.

And to Chiefy2Shoes - I would love your collection. I'm just dipping my toe in and would love to have that full set. Thanks for the advice & recommendation.

- I didn't include the Specials as I always found them unevenly produced and I was really just wanting to copy the original IPC archives - at one point I wanted them to look identical - just red material with simple spine and dates - but vanity took over.

Watch out for the Starlord balls-up where the page size changes so dramatically they cant be bound with normal progs. Bah

Yes. Indeed.

I should also add having a signing panel seemed at first long-winded and a bit counter-intuitive ("I only want to get a signature from X")

But through it, I met and got stuff signed by the legend Annie Parkhouse which actually made the con for me and her signature is pride of place in my Dante books. ANNIE!

Just getting the progs has revealed some interesting stuff.

The prog 207 They stole Crydon has about 10 pages of Editorial or extended Tharg nonsense.
Also in this 'classic' run seems to be two stories that run eternally 'Meltdown Man' and 'Return to Armageddon which between them had 84 episodes.

Thank you to Eamonn and TJM for sorting me out.

A week on and what an amazing event it was.

I picked up amazing sketches by Simon Fraser (a hero I've not met since '98), a sketch from Cam Kennedy that honestly I couldn't be happier with - I thought it was a print at first), and then a lovely pencilled piece by the uber-genius Tom Foster.

I was trying to get everyone there associated with the first year of 2000ad to sign my bound collection and I managed that by starting at Gosh the night before.

I think I achieved it but only by missing out on chatting longer to the new talent like Dani, Emma Beeby, Kek-W, Dave Kendall, Dan Cornell etc. I think it was genuinely impossible to bring something for everyone to sign - and I can see retrospectively why so many fans got Thrill Power Overload or a poster signed en-masse.

So to Rebellion, you couldn't have done better. I'd welcome a smaller 'new talent' 2000ad con as nothing could top this unless Bolland, Cliff Robinson & Ian Gibson had paraglided in mid-con. THANKS GUYS.

I've booked at the Park Plaza Hotel (£90ish for Sat) as I thought on paper it looked pretty close (Boar Lane City Square, Leeds, LS1 5NS, GB)

Anyone know if this was a good call?

Yup I agree - start the claim process immediately - make it formal anything else doesn't count.
Usually after 14 days they automatically credit the buyer as long as you paid with paypal.

Yes please TJM. PM me or matae08@gmail.com

I also need the less glamorous prog 209. The copy I had bought had a stamp collecting token removed ARRRRHHHH!

Y'know when they made wild printer changes in the 70s, they really weren't thinking 40 years later I'd be trying to bind this. #inconsiderate!

I'll now have a book a 30 progs, followed by one of 18! There goes the bookshelf...

I'm trying. It's now doubling in price. Are you all bidding against me ?!
