Sorry some explanation Skullmo

2) in the same year as it relaunch edition rebellion are selling it at 2.99

Rebellion did a relatively high profile repackage of Halo with a new cover/new size/Ian Gibson did some signings and a credible introduction written by a known person. And yet they are now selling it for £2.99.
That makes me think it didn't really reach a new market.

3) we arent going to buy it again so you have to create a new gen audience
I think the shrinking 2000ad audience won't buy any more re-issues unless they are prestige or have a significant point of difference.

I don't think a new audience would come through the prog first.

Halo Jones should be a repeat seller like Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, Marvel Masterworks. I know the Walking Dead is a huge seller in b&w but it's a massive exception.

I was speculating that any Halo edition created to find a new market or a true US market would have to be colour. I don't think it would improve the experience, I was just speculating that it might make it more commercially successful. Even DC struggle to exploit Alan Moore Swamp Things so perhaps it's a genre non-tights thing.

I'd rather read halo in b&w but as a tpb expecting to be a perenial seller three things occur to me

1) my daughter wont read it in b&w
2) in the same year as it relaunch edition rebellion are selling it at 2.99
3) we arent going to buy it again so you have to create a new gen audience

Nemesis the colour reprints was definitely a start on this road
And id expect apocalypse war in colour

'I'm not reading Halo Jones. It's old. It's even not in colour'

My 11 year old daughter refuses to read alan moore's classic but here's the thing. She's being honest. And maybe representative of a new generation.

I know IDW are doing dredd classics coloured but surely Halo could sell loads more in a fully coloured format.

So when will we see all these classics remastered?

Prog / Re: 2000ad's Dan Dare - why didn't he come back?

I think the links are confusing (certainly on this iPad) but this is the link to guy who had a go at finishing it:

http://stormcomicsuk.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/more-2000ad-dan-dare.html

I think the dan dare co. just want too big a chunk of cash but Keith from Rebelliom said they were looking in to it on a fairly recent podcast (i think) After that I think 2000ad has reprinted everything with an audience for it.

I thought it was on borrowed time afterthe starlord merger and then finally dropped with the Tornado merge. Ultimately its demise was really because 2000ad had assembled a strong enough roster of returning characts without him. I also doubt Tom Tully had the influence to fight for his return.

I do think the artwork is incredible and reading the idw dave gibbons dr who collection, it is astonishing how much effort went in. I presume dave left to do marvel uk dr who as my good there's loads of it.

I would like a collection please rebellion.

Other Reviews / Beyond 2000ad - buy it now
12 November, 2013, 07:58:44 PM
Just read it from cover to cover in a couple of enjoyable hours.

This is a fantastic look at 2000ad/ipc related comics. A real highlight was a very complete review of the US reprints of 2000ad (explaining how exactly some of those bizarre covers and stretched interiors came about). There's very cool interviews about Strontium Dog's creation and a fantastically titled chapter 'How Starlord rescued 2000ad'.

I bought the digital download for £2.50 from Comicsy and this is the best fanzine i have read. It's more like missing chapters from Thrill Power Overload.

Now i've got to track down the issues of Legends of the Law where Dredd first meets Anderson. See that's what a great fanzine does - it realises there's stuff you still didnt know! Thanks MaryandDavid / Hibernia.

News / Re: JMS vs 2000ad
07 November, 2013, 09:03:52 PM
I loved his initial spider-man run before he was disrupted by civil war.

I dunno.

We tried toget some pro 2k PR by invoking the holy a moore in his wedding attire no less.
We had some fun at american expense
Said american bit back

Think we're all winners. I'm sure in PR terms more US readers heard of 2k than Uk people suddenly had a lazarus moment and realised what a god JMS was.

It's all good fun and I think it shows what a great job having 2k pr is doing.

Deep down lets be honest there's more creativity in the first 5 years of 2k than the first 50 of marvel or DC.

Hi eammon
Well done on getting the book double signed and doing it for charity.
I think the auction might suffer for not having Dredd in the title but feel free to ignore and i'll bid a £10 to get it going a bit more.
