I've read a few of those now, and it's a bit hit and miss. I loved this story though. Could be a terror tale.
Not overly frightening but it fits the profile.
I don't know much about tablets. For a Photoshops substitute though, maybe consider GIMP. It's free, and whilst I haven't used it used it much myself (I've got it, but haven't used it much yet) it's got a lot of features.

Not all manga does the big eyes thing.

That being said, I'm not keen on the idea for a Dredd animation. The whole eastern style certainly looks sumptious, but I think western style animation for a western character. Keep it gritty.

I did like Ghost in the Shell though. The sequel felt pretentious with all the blather, although the basic storyline for that was ok too. I haven't seen any of the 'Stand alone Complex' series though.

RO-JAWS - I don't know the other one. Don't know much about this one either but I like the design.
MONGROL - Mongrol, a great character. I chose Deadlock over him last round but had second thoughts later. Still I like Toby the robodog, but there's something about the Mongrol design with his giant Pacman face which does it for me.
JOE PINEAPPLES - I was tempted to choose Walter here, as he's a very funny character. He's the kind that can get irritating after a while though, and Pineapples is just incredibly cool.
HAMMERSTEIN -  I like the silly Roboestogie (and other robot characters in the Robohunter comics) but Hammerstein is just such an iconic character.

Hey, what d'ya know! I've chosen all ABC warriors. (Ok Ro-jaws isn't technically, but he was a member for a while, wasn't he?)

Quote from: "ThryllSeekyr"What did Alan Moore think and have to say about this?
'

He's disasociated himself from the film, so I doubt he said anything. Thoughts... well who can say? "Typical", maybe, or "Couldn't care less."

QuoteIn all fairness, it's most likely down to miscommunication between writer and artist. To cut down on continuity mistakes (ironic, I know) there was probably a note in the script during the first book of Volgan War to the effect that Steelhorn now needed to be drawn as part-diamond, given that's how he ended up at the end of Shadow Warriors. I don't know how fast Langley works but I imagine he needs a fair bit of lead-time to start a new series, and probably began VW before SW had actually finished running in the prog.

Jump forward to this bit, and Pat Mills writes a throwaway line about a 'diamond brain' in an attempt to make clear why Steelhorn is so special among the ABCs, same as the throwaway line about his 'vortex hammer.' Langley assumes this means the whacking great crystal on his head and so mistakenly draws it into the flashbacks. Cue assembled fandom angrily stringing up Pat Mills yet again.

That makes a lot of sense actually. - it's kind of part of the territory especially when you have lots of artists on a work.  Not that these continuity things particularly anger, me I find it interesting if anything. Especially thinking up ways in which it could tie together (how geeky is that? ;) )

Has he used the 'vortex hammer' before? I know he didn't in the Meknificent 7, (although he had a similarly shaped axe and only appeared in that form for a short while.)

Incidentally, a little aside, but I rather liked the design of Happy Shrapnel in the early book. Robot hillbilly gunslinger. Dancing in a dress at one point, no less. It's a shame they didn't carry that character through.

QuoteWell, the banning has garnered us WORLDWIDE media attention (albiet more about Apple doing the banning than how about the comic) including (in their online technology blogs) the Wall Street Journal, Fortune magazine and hundreds of IT / Mac websites.

Still good publicity though, as people seek out that 'naughty comic' which caused all the controversy.

I liked it myself. Violent and gorey yes, but the humor just offsets that.

Hee hee.

I used to prefer it on a Monday- something nice for the start of the week etc.  Have to admit I miss it when it doesn't arrive Saturday now though. We get so spoilt don't we?

This weeks came on time though so no complaints from me.

Darkhorse web comics. (You might need a myspace account to access though.)

A nice little find I thought. They've got a Serenity strip up there now. Plenty of others too and all free.

At the bottom you can access past issues. Just move your pointer over the large triangle arrow either side to scroll back and forth.

(Incidentally, apologies if there's already a thread about this site.)

Quote from: "McNulty"And now for my comments if I may...

ABC Warriors: Steelhorn's war memories was a problem with me, as the one relaying them to the rest of the ABC Warriors isn't actually the same Steelhorn, but a robot created by the planet. I would have thought that this would have coloured his interpretation of his memories. However, I can't fault the terrific artwork and this storyline in general.

Didn't they copy the original Steelhorn's memories too? In fact wasn't he reincorporated from the same mess? (I don't know I haven't read those stories, just the overview kindly provided by other posters.

I picked up The Meknificent 7 from the library today. I've read it before, but I fancied a refresher with this latest run in the Prog. Good stories, but the writing is sometimes a bit painful to read (clunky diaglogue etc.) Writings come along way since then (although whether the plotting has is a whole other thing!) Very funny in places though.

One thing I noticed was how different Steelhorn looks. Obviously they're going more for realism now, and there are bound to be changes as different artists bring their own vision, but you'd think the main attributes would be the same. Or if they're different its due to upgrades etc. By large that's how it is, but Steelhorn looks rather different. He doesn't have the huge diamond brain for one thing. I'd simply put it down to this being the reconstituted version, except, in the backflash in the latest story, he looks the same as in the present day segments. Including the diamond brain...

Overall I quite like the strip though. (Although I'd like more story. Old time storytelling with modern text if that makes sense.)

QuoteRandom: I've never been a fan of this strip, and I'm afraid I don't think I can ever get into it. I cannot feel any kind of empathy for this character. He has no redeming features at all. The man is scum. This being said, I know all too well that this is a popular strip with many other readers.

I'm a newcomer to this strip, and I can't speak for the other Lob story arcs, but if their anything like this, I think people's attraction to the strip is probably the humor. That and the grouchiness of the character. Not really a redeeming feature but kinda endearing. In a weird way.

Quote from: "Wake"At the moment, you have given Anderson a movie helmet, but the rest of her uniform is the comic version.

I have actually seen that version in the comic, although few artists do it that way. (Good example would be that alien invasion story a short while ago.) It's a nice realistic rendition though, and not all that different from the other version (mainly the bars at the front usually depicted as sloped opposed to vertical.) And since different artists draw these characters differently, I think this is a legitimate route to take.

The girl's face is way to young, but I guess if this is Anderson in rookie mode.

Looks good!

Quote from: "JamesC"Ha, 'Twins of Evil' is great. I think their dad's the vampire hunter or something.

Did anyone catch 'Vault of Horror' on Film4? Classic Amicus anthology horror with some excellent scenery chewing action from the likes of Tom Baker, Terry Thomas and Denholm Elliot.

I didn't but I'm sure I've seen it before. I didn't know Tom Baker was in it though!

1. Hammerstein.
2. Deadlock- I like the idea of a robot with mystical powers for some reason.
3. Toby. (I forgot about him. Great character.)
4. Walter. (People find him annoying but he made me smile in the case files. Particularly placing him with someone like Dredd.)

Ok. one more than needed (Just go with the top three if you like.) I'd like to choose Mongrol too, but doesn't seem fair to put all ABC warriors in there...

A classic old cheesy vampire film.

In a good way!

(I say 'classic' it actually did the vampire thing in a different way... but it was very good for that very reason.)

Another rather vamp film of that time oozing sexiness, 'Twins of Evil' (I believe that's the name. The one with two rather attractive young ladies, one innocent, one not so much. And a castle with a mysterious evil nobleman....)
