Film & TV / Re: The new Trek......

At this point I must say that I must be the only person who thought Enterprise was actually rather good. I liked the Storys, the Characters and the design of the show.

I liked it too. In fact it was probably my favourite Star Trek show.

I wasn't keen on the tacky Trellium-D Vulcan junky sub-plot in season 3 as it seemed unrealistic to the T'Pol character and just a way to exploit her to put a bit of sauciness on screen, but the main story arcs were actually pretty good I thought.

It looks interesting but some of the quips the girl comes out with come across pretty corny, action movie style.

Then again it is an action movie so...

Never mind. Worth a watch I think.

That makes sense.

(Not meant in a sarcastic tone, it's probably better than my theory although it could have been a bit of both.)

I liked this episode too, but it bugged me that while all the other alien sleeper agent were like zombies, completely under the alien intelligence when it took over, the one who happened to be in custody of Torchwood retained her human consciousness ... even to the exent she was able to use their technology against them.

I guess that could have been a side effect of the mind probe, i.e. joining both consciousnesses together allowing her more control, (appart from when her started acting for itself sending out signals to the others ans getting all pointy with her husband) but it would have been nice if that was mentioned.

I just saw it on BBC on demand.

I quite liked it. Loved the gag at the start with the fish man pulling up to the crossing in a trendy car.  Silly but made me chuckle.

The character still come across a bit dump and weak though, easily defeated by the current baddie.
I.e. Like when Gwen followed Jack's advice and kept her eye on John (James Marsters) Hart, only to dash forward the moment they found the item in the crate with her back to him. "Oooh there it is!"  Put up your hands if you didn't have a distinct premonition he might just knock her on the head at that point. Ok you'd be wrong, he gave her a big kiss instead, but it had the same effect pretty much....

Reminds me of series one when she found that time echo device, not knowing what it was, and just randomly started punching buttons. Don't get me wrong, I like Gwen, but she... can... act...so.... DUMB!

I was watching something else during the first one on BBC1 then I fell asleep and managed to miss much of the repeat on BBC3 so I switched it over. Hopefully they'll repeat it again before the next episode though. They usually do.

Did it actually wear a Judge uniform at some point? Or was that just a gag for the cover (in which case fair enough ;) ).

Anyone come across this before? I assume it's a reference to that cross-over story (which I haven't read).

Not really stupid.

I've sometimes thought it would be great to have an adventurous life. Of course if we lived that life for real, especially if we lived in fear etc, we'd probably wish we had a life more mundane.

As for living in Mega City 1, I guess it depends on the context. For us to go to such a place with what we know might seem wondrous, but to actually be born there with memories of just that place would just be normality. It could also be incredibly boring for the ordinary citizens there, bearing in mind the high unemployment rate (even worse than here.)

Ironically you'd probably find yourself seeking hobbies to alleviate the boredom... futuristic hobbies like total emmersion video games maybe but you'd be pretty much in the same state you are now.

Of course with the high crime rate around, going out could have an 'exitement' factor in that you might be the victim of a crime... if that counts. Not doubt being a Judge is itself exiting (except when you have to do paperwork of course.) as is being a perp for that matter (albeit the exitement might not last long when Mr Fireseeker drills a hole through your noggin) but I reckon many of the ordinary citizens are bored silly. Hence the high crime rate.

Heh, thanks. Thought I'd gotten a bit mixed up with the names there. (First names similar though... and she does look like a Sirtis with those dusky spanishy type looks.)

And you're right, two attractive ladies.

I just saw an advertisement for that on Virgin 1 today.

I'm hoping the broadcast version you mentioned was a different channel, if not I missed it. Sure to repeat it though, they usually do.

As for female monk (or nun maybe?) - yeah you got the two ladies mixed up. Inara is a courtesan, and part of her training appears to be of an eastern religious nature. For someone who has seen Serenity withough seeing Firefly, it's an easy enough mistake to miss her actual vocation though (although Inara(Morena Sirtis (I might have got her Surname wrong) ) and River(Summer Glau) look very different, albeit both attractive in different ways.)

I understand Wolverine will be a prequel (at least in part) but I wondered if Sabretooth was (spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen X-Men)- done for at the end of the film. He has Wolverine's regenerative ability doesn't he? At least he did in the comics. That being said, falling from that height might not have left much to regenerate.

I know what you mean. I guess since Stickleback's henchmen are quickly freaky looking too that didn't help. In fact they mentioned that the big guy 'Bob' or whatever his name is a zombie as well, although he was easy enough to pick out due to his size.

I like the art though, but  I wonder if a colour strip would make characters clearer to distinguish though. The shades of grey and brown do provide a nice Victorian type vibe though.

What am I saying? Reading brainwave is a pretty good cheat in gambling too...
