The way that ended, I thought it might be the last, (and that might not be a bad place to end it)

But then you wouldn't get the best episode of the show :D

Would that be the last episode of series 5? Saw it last night and yes, that's how to end the series! I actually looked online to see if there was a series 6, (hoping there wasn't as I think that ending hits the mark) and came across several articles about... fake announcements of series 6.

Watching Better Call Saul now. Pretty good so far, and amusing to see some familiar faces crop up.
The black and white bit at the start puzzled me a bit as I thought (due to the lack of colour) it was a past sequence. Then the penny dropped.... Saul, at the end of Breaking Bad in his new life. Or lack of it. (Oh right, so that's the reason for the lack of colour I guess?) The one bit that's not a prequel - nice. Interesting to see how different and similar Saul is. Even Tucco seems to be a bit less psycho. Marginally.
Also just noticed that there's a third season of Teen Wolf on Netflix. This doesn't really qualify as an addiction as... well, I'm not all that taken. It's not BAD bad, and I quite enjoyed the last two series. The tired tropes are getting on my nerves a bit. I'll see where it goes, but I've been spoilt by some quality telly, recently.

I keep forgetting stuff from last week!

No criticism of the current prog - it's on good form.

I've seen the original version already, and it was very good. This version is great!

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that
despite having seen the film a few times (albeit mainly the other version) I only just realised that the scream the Colonel hears is the voice of his future self! I just assumed (like him) it was a previous victim of the Chuckwalla (which in a timey wimey way is true)  although the story works that way too.

So when Johnny's scans that area, he is effective seeing future events a few seconds on (from his POV) ... which he then triggers with the time bomb. Brilliant!
I'm so slow sometimes.

Yeah, I don't think you're the only one on that score - I think we made it a bit more explicit in this version, we didn't want to make it too spoonfed.

Yes, a good way to go.
The lovely thing is, of you don't pick up on it, it still works. The colonel shows no surprise when he hears the scream after all, and his response suggests feeding his enemies or even annoying employees to the chuckwalla is a regular occurrence.
And I say potentially because I've never watched them in the context of looking out for JD continuity.  I need to have a Predator and Alien/s/etc watching marathon at some point (there are things I like about all the films in both series, so it won't be a chore for me).

I've only seen the main line Alien films, as well as Predator 1 -2. But I'm quite sure the AvP films are good entertainment if nothing else.

Really looking forward to Shane Black's upcoming Predator film.

There was another film that came out as well - Predators, in 2010.

I pretty much like them all (even those that seem to be universally derided) although I have major reservations concerning AvP:Requiem, because it was too dark! I mean, literally! It didn't help that the predalien looked so much like the predator until you were up close in good light.

After Alien Covenant
I guess it's best to view AvP and the predator films as another continuity, I guess. Kind of a shame in some ways, much as I liked Covenant for what it was.
Just saw the lase episode of Breaking Bad: Season 4.

Great stuff!

AWOOGA AWOOGA! ETC! DO NOT LOOK A SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEE UP TO END OF SEASON 4.
But did Walt really do that to the little boy? Okay it's not as bad as ricin, but...Interesting, if dark twist though, but I can't help thinking that's a level of evil beyond him. Okay, he probably knew that the Lilly of the Valley berry poisoning could be counteracted, but that's a major chance he took, and an awful thing to do, if awfully clever too from a manipulation standpoint. ( I'm kind of ashamed to think that.) Sure, he has killed by this stage, but usually in self defence, not that I'm advocating murder.

That bit last season where he stood by while Jesse's girlfriend choked to death was too far, even if she had threatened to expose him earlier.

She did go on to develop superpowers in another life, so I guess it wasn't all bad for her. Still carried over her addictive tendencies mind, but I guess scotch might be a step up from heroin-meth cocktail injections.

I know he will do anything for his family, but even so...
The way that ended, I thought it might be the last, (and that might not be a bad place to end it) but then Netflix put me on episode one of Season 5.

Enjoying this a lot, and I look forward to Better Call Saul later...

I liked the latest episode, Extremis, a lot. Its been done before, I but I felt the execution worked well. A
clever twist.
Or Man-Cat (hyphen optional, although I think it looks better with one rather than concattenated words in this case) since it's actually a cat doing people type things.

Okay, maybe not, but I love the story idea and I'm sure you both can come up with another suitable name.

All the best Doctor Alt!

Not a pet, but the other day we found a snake in our fishpond.

On one hand, I'm a bit concerned about the fate of our fish, although I think this breed of snake is more partial to frogs, something we also have plenty of. Not that I'm keen on the cute little hoppers getting scarfed, but I understand their odds are good, and they're not trapped in the one place being air breathers.

On the other hand, I'm really excited we have/had a snake. It's not something one sees regularly, and it's pretty big. (I don't mean python-big. It's just tempting to envision grass snakes (I'm 90% sure that's what this is) as small. Word on line is they can reach a metre in length, but although I have my doubts about that.  I didn't see it all, as only a part of it was above the surface, but it was over half an inch thick. Closer to an inch I believe.

Amazing critter. I'm just hoping  next time we see it, it doesn't have coy carp sized bulges down its length...

Until seeing it in the back of a car I hadn't really got a grasp on the size of the thing!

I was just thinking myself, that car boot really gives it a sense of scale, huh?

Heh. I'm amused that we're pretty much talking about the same stuff we did when we knew the film was being produced. (Was it really 7 years ago? Feels like 2 or 3 years to me at most.)

You'll know Saul when you meet him :)

I.... see what you mean! I didn't realise he didn't appear until well into season 2. (Actually I didn't realise I was well into season 2 until recently, due to Netflix's style of slapping the next episode up right away.)

I just had a rather slow episode with Walter sorting out the rot in his house, but overall it's pretty good.

And I recognised that  young lady from Jessica Jones, even with the fringe, and without the semi-permanent scowl. Nice to see her doing something rather different (much as I like JJ).

Alien: Covenant
I enjoyed it but not as much as I was hoping for. The first hour is very slow paced and if you haven't seen Prometheus then much of it will go over your head. The final 30 minutes are fun, and much more of what I had hoped for. I shall be going to see it again next week. A solid 7/10 for me. Good but not as good as it could have been and poses more questions than it answers.
On my way back from the cinema after seeing this and this review pretty much matches mine.
I wish I hadn't read and watched online as much as I had before as they spoiled too much. Also not keen on Davids role in the alien genesis, but the twist at the end was interesting.
Thanks Dweezil. Ordered!

My phone autocorrect changed 'Dweezil' to 'sweetie'. I'm so glad I noticed before I posted. 😆
