Has this planet been named yet? Or have I missed it? Obviously it only becomes Deadworld when everyone dies.

I wonder about that. We've avoided it so far.:)

I figured it was Earth, just in a parallel universe. Interesting to see the similar names of the president too, Boothe (Dreddworld) Boone (Deathworld).

And yeah, I'm really enjoying this! The fabric face-gear that this earlier incarnation of Judge Fear wears, akin more to two flaps on a tent rather than the gates of a medieval castle is particularly creepy. Like his face is less... hidden somehow with just a thin layer of fabric and a bit of string separating it from us. Brrr.

Don't get me wrong, I love the later iconic design, but this really works too on a fundamental bone-chilling level.

Brink and Scarlet Traces make me feel a bit lost, but I think that's largely due to my poor memory from week to week. I still liked them both though, and I really enjoyed the rest. I'm sure the stories above will read well in one go.

I liked that little twist in Dredd, and Deadworld is a highlight. (
So he actually has a use for those shrunken heads he wears on his belt. Brrr.
)

Oh and the Droid's Life strip was rather amusing.

One little nitpick though: wouldn't Tharg's eyes be ruby, rather than emerald? Not including his eyelids and other surrounding area, of course.

I started a five week contract last Thursday.

This morning I got a call from the agency informing me that "while I fitted in well, they were doing a staff reshuffle and as of today, I was no longer required." So three days then. Hmm.

I'm not entirely surprised as I'm quite a slow worker, so I guess if they're going to let someone go, it would be me, but after just three days?

Never mind, I needed a rest. (Warehouse work. On my feet for a good part of 8 hours, etc, and I've been feeling the aches and pains a bit today.)

Misunderstood alien who only kills people because he's sad and wants to go home #237.
Was it suggested the thing was an alien, or was it just a thing that might have been around on the Earth forever?
It wasn't definitively stated either way, but The Doctor thought it might be terrestrial, and the villain said it had been there for generations, so it seems likely it's actually native to Earth.

It's a completely different species of fish to anything we know of course as it has eyelids... (Sharks have a nictating membrane apparently.)
Iron Fist on Netflix.

I've seen a lot of criticisms concerning this series, but I enjoyed it. I think it helps that I binge these shows though, as I can see how watching certain episodes on a weekly basis could really drag.
That twist at the end of the series concerning Colleen Wing seemed a bit out of nowhere though. Had they planned that deal with the character from the start, or did they just think "oh this would be an interesting twist..." later? I just found it a bit difficult to believe considering how we are introduced to the character.
I look forward to seeing these characters team up in Defenders!

I figured being born in the middle East Jesus was neither black or white, although some people seem to define black as 'not white'.

Anyway, I liked that episode a lot. It was rather funny in places too, particularly the scene where Bill handles the 'mud' brick.

I've enjoyed all the episodes so far, although I wasn't keen on the resolution last week.

While I understand Stephen King's criticism of The Shining, in that the main character goes through less of a  journey into degradation (
i.e. Jack Nicholson's version comes across as a bit of a psycho, even at the start, while the novel version comes across as an ordinary mostly decent guy, with a dark side (linked to alcoholism) who degrades throughout the novel due to the Overlook's influence,
) as a piece of horror I think the original film is still rather good. The horror works in a different way to the novel and the more faithful mini-series adaptation, but... well it scared me, so job done.

I could say more, but I won't as this isn't a Shining comparison thread.

As for The Shining > Gladiator?

Again, I'd say, different films, and genres, so I find it tough to compare as they're both good films. It would come down to 'what genre do I prefer', and since I like both horror and historical dramas (if you can blend the two that would be REALLY good) I would still find it a bit difficult to compare.

I guess I'd lean towards The Shining by personal preference, but I wouldn't say the film is objectively better. Unless 'preference' means 'better'.

Well if that's the case, ye don't kill trolls by ignoring them. Ye have to pity them. Trolls can't stand you feeling sorry fra them
And all this time I thought fire did the job...

Nah, that just aggravates them. The best thing is to keep them chatting until the sun comes up.
(Joking aside, I don't think 'troll' is correct in this case. I wish we'd move on now, through.)

I could understand that if he left the work half done, but I doubt that's what he meant. Only that an artist (comic or otherwise) can often see more that they'd like to add if time allows, but at some point they have to draw a line under it (so to speak) and move on.

That doesn't mean that the work done does not fit the specification.

I still plan on getting all the JD books, but i think I'll cherry pick with this collection too, should it be published mainstream. I've all the Strontium Dog books ( minus the very latest) so i don't really want to double dip.

On the other hand I have only a few Dredd case file so happy to go the Hatchette for his stuff.

Ironfist

I've read a few negative views concerning this, but I'm enjoying it a lot. The first 2-3 episodes were a bit slow moving, so I can see how that might be a pain for those watching it weekly (or even one episode a day for that matter) but the fact they're all available on Netflix provides the (possibly unhealthy) binging option.

So far, I like it a lot.

And really don't mind 3A taking their time on 1/12 releases, easier on the 'ol wallet.

Snap! I've also  been avoiding the 1/6 figures for the same reason. That and space. (The 1/12 figures seem just right in that regard.) The recent 1/6  Dredds have been very tempting though.

The Doctor didn't actually say there was no evil, just that there wasn't much of it in the universe. And that hunger is mistaken for evil.

I think the Daleks certainly qualify as amongst the few. At least the creator (Davros?) was. Arguably the drones not so much as I think their brains are surgically altered to make them vicious space Nazis (i.e. they don't have a conscience to listen to. If they did, and they still committed their atrocities.... that would be true evil).

I hope the series antagonists don't all turn out to just be hungry too though. It looks like the Master will turn up later though, so he/she qualifies as evil surely? Or does she, considering she is insane? Huh. Maybe she's just hungry too....
