I just started Fear the Walking Dead this very night! (Well technically I started it a couple of years back when they showed the first episode for free.* I enjoyed it, but as the rest of the series required paying, I just saw that one.) I'm four episodes in, now.

So far: Pretty good.


* I think it was just some promotional deal advertising another channel, which youd have to pay for later to see the rest of the series, or maybe it was a freebie on pay for view. I forget.

Why did no one die this week? Not really that bothered as I love this show.

Yes that's what I thought. It's only a throwaway line but they don't waste a word in these scripts.

Only seen the two so far; Bill and Riddle. Both excellent. Can't believe I've missed out on this so far (probably because I'm the only person in the solar system who doesn't find League of Gentlemen funny so didn't think I'd like it)

I can confirm that there are at least two of us.

So, is this worth a watch then?

I, too, have chosen to ignore this on the basis that the League of Gentlemen was no way near as clever and funny as it thought it was.

I can understand you disliking League... While I largely liked it (I'm not keen on all the first series, but I think it improved) I can see how it would be very very much a matter of taste. (Okay, I guess most things are, but League... is goes to a very silly and extreme place which can be particularly polarising.

Inside No. 9, while also being a black comedy, in many ways, is not as extreme. Some of the episodes are even quite gentle, although many do go to a very dark place.

In short, I shouldn't let The League of Gentlemen put you off. Or Psychoville* for that matter. Even if you don't like all the episodes, as an anthology series, you'll likely find something to like, much like our beloved comic.

*Although I really lied that too, but it's different enough.

Yeah, I liked Batman Vs Superman, but Lex's portrayal seemed much closer to The Riddler or The Joker. Not as insanity as those characters, certainly, I just mean that super cheerful chirpy demeanor. I know Lex Luthor isn't miserable all the time in the comics, but he seems much more serious than the version shown in BvsS.

I liked the Trailer.

Despite hearing the news yesterday and working in London  (not that vicinity),and noticing the increased amount of police officers at Victoria station on my way home, it was reading the Metro this morning, and seeing the pictures that really brought it home to me emotionally.

In particular, a woman kneeling down helping a literally broken man in the street.

Logan.

I don't dislike the other Wolverine films, but, yes, this was very special.

Don't look at this if you haven't seen it yet (obviously):
[spoiler]Considering the ending, (and setting for that matter) i wonder how this will affect future X-Men films. I guess it's set far enough in the future for now to give a lot of leeway, but sooner or later, unless the series is discontinued ( a real possibility) they'll catch up.

Not that it really matters with the propensity for altered timelines and revamps, etc. It's still a nice finale for the character.[/spoiler]

The resemblance is greater in some places than others,, but wasn't the appearance of that version of Durham Red based on Angelina Jolie?

Heh! I totally missed that! Even with going and cleverer-than-it-thinks autocorrect on my phone, i don't know how 'hardback' became 'Barbados'!

I'm not really into war comics, but seeing the rather lovely hardback collection of Battle at my local library, I thought I'd give it a go. (A large portion is written by our own John Wagner, in his pre-2000 AD days.)

I've a long way to go, but it's rather good so far.

Thing is, I haven't read this before. What if I don't like it? Would the nice edition with the extra lovely print still be worth it in that eventuality? Probably not. I like nice comic art but not to that degree. It seems up my street but, it's still a bit of a chance.

Heh. Joking aside, I think you're right. Someone who loves the series deserves the limited edition hardbacks more. An I'll save even more ordering the paperback elsewhere.

Ive been having trouble charging my phone (connection issues with the lead which is one of those usb C jobs, hence I can't just swap leads) so I ordered a new lead on Amazon and since I needed the lead very quickly, decided to go for next day delivery.

Turns out the price of next day delivery isn't much less than the monthly subscription to Prime so....

I noticed Preacher was on there so I've been watching that these last couple of days.

I'm enjoying it a lot. I read the first collection at the library, and interesting premise aside, never really took to it. I think I prefer this a lot more. A couple of characters who came across as rather nasty in the comic are more three dimensional, and it's quite funny in places* on a very dark way. And Jesse is more believable as a preacher who lost his way, than in the comic, where he just seemed to wear the collar and that was it.

*That multiple angel massacre was the craziest thing. [spoiler]Loads died... yet technically only three...[/spoiler]

Of course, if i got the other rogue badges I'd have a couple of things to Pineapples those to as i wear a hat a lot when I'm out, and I'm always carrying a rucksack when I'm out.... But get both?

Decisions decisions..

Is the peg actually broken, or just loose? If they're like the arm pegs they may be separate units, probably glued in place? The wrist pegs of my 3a Dredd come out with the hands every time i change the hands.

I don't think I've seen any film with intermissions, but i didn't go to the pictures that often as a child. (I'm was born in the 70s so, likely they were around in my lifetime.)

I do remember that they always had a cartoon before the main feature, which was often as enjoyable, although possibly for different reasons.

In my Dad's time they had a full film before the main feature! (He was born in the 40s. He is now a rather robust 70 something, bless him.) Or maybe there wasn't a 'main feature' and they just showed two films at a time. Of course not all that many working class people had a TV back then, and i don't think they only showed new releases at the cinema. I think they might have even shown series and the news at the pictures back then.

I was impressed by how little more the Barbados was. Okay £6.00 is significant, but when you consider hardbacks are often proportionally far higher than the paperback equivalent... I'm really tempted.

If you tap the screwdriver against something hard (not someone's head) it will cause the screwdriver to become magnetised. I think its just for a temporary period, and it's pretty weak but it may work long enough to tighten the screws into place.

I used the magnetism trick to get screws out of awkward places, like the inside of a computer chassis. In hindsight, considering the issues of exposing microchip components to an electric field,.that probably wasn't a good idea. Thankfully there was no harm done.
