Is it a good idea trying to save all your congratulations till the end? Surely folks want to hear what we think of their efforts as each window opens?

Well done anyway, Jim! :)

Now you've made me feel all niggardly and dirty.

Again.

Does anyone know what happened to Bouwel? He was due to post something on the 13th?

He hasn't been in the chatroom for the last couple of weeks, either. I know he's been having trouble with his back but I hope he's okay. The place is not the same without him.

I, too, am refraining from posting awed praise every day in order not to choke up the thread, so you can all take my high praise and intense jealousy as read. Best. Christmas. Thread. Ever. Epic win.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I emailed Jason Kingsley at Rebellion yesterday asking for advice and offering a cut or, if that's not possible, to offer these posters at cost to fellow fans so that I make zero profit. I'll let you know if and when I get a reply. If there is no reply (again) I'll take Emperor's advice and send in a couple of samples.

I lived with a woman who thought I should get rid of my collection.

She didn't last long.

Priorities, dont'cha know.

Thanks, Bolt. I wasn't thinking of making a fortune out of this, just a couple of bob to cover my time and whatnot - out of which I'd be more than willing to send Rebellion a cut. (Anything that gets a few shekels into Twoothy has to be a good thing, IMHO.)

I guess I'll have to speak with someone from Rebellion before anything else happens. Anyone have any contact details they can PM me?

I have no idea of the exact proportions he can achieve, that's on my list of questions for Phase II, along with costing for various sizes.

Earlier in the year, my local printer (for whom I occasionally provide artwork) gained access to a proper poster printing machine. I created a few images for him which he used to promote his business and he asked me if I'd any ideas for using this machine.

Well, yes. I do have an idea, but it's pretty niche and I have no idea how to proceed so I thought I'd pick the communal brains of the forum.

My idea was to create vector images based on classic 2000AD covers and panels (I'll post the ones I've done so far at the end of this thread) and to keep the style of the original artist. Once vectorised, these images could be blown up to any size without becoming blocky or blurred. Initially, this idea was purely for my own personal use but then I thought, hey, maybe other Squaxx may want copies also. That's when I kind of lost my way.

I emailed Rebellion some months ago to ask the following questions but, unfortunately, did not receive any reply. So, I thought I'd ask you lot.

1: Is there a market for this stuff? Would you buy one and how much would you be prepared to pay?

2: If I were to sell these privately, at cost, what permissions would I need?

3: If I were to sell these for a small profit on Ebay, for example, what permissions would I need? Would Rebellion require a percentage of the net profits or what?

4: What wording, in regards to copyright, would need to be on the posters?

Once I have the answers to these questions, I'll know if/how to proceed. If all goes well, I'd love to vectorise more classic images for posterisation and I'm sure that at least some Squaxx have favourite images/covers/panels they'd love to see on their walls in glorious poster form.

Any help or advice anyone could give would be much appreciated. This is my initial exploration of the feasibility of this project, and if anyone from Rebellion is reading this, then I'd be most interested in hearing from you.

Anyway, here are the images I've vectorised so far:

I know, and I'm sorry I hi-jacked the thread with my doom-mongering Scroogery. Still, it wouldn't be Christmas without a miserable old git like me frothing ineffectually in a corner, would it?

I'll get me (threadbare) coat.

Point taken. As I said, I'm just being grumpy.

However, it does annoy me when suchlikes as the BBC tout this kind of thing as "news."

35,000 children under the age of five die every day because of things like diarrhea. That's 420,000 dead tots between December 13th and Christmas Day.

Of course, this is as much my fault as anyone else's because I expect cheap goods in the shops and somebody has to suffer because of that. I'm just being grumpy here, you understand, and it isn't my intention to belittle the opinions of music lovers but I simply can't get worked up by pap like this. IMHO, this is not at all important. The Number One Christmas Noise this year, like any other year, is for me completely drowned out by those 420,000 silences caused by the Big Industries, just like the music biz, that we all support.

Just think about it, that's all. (And don't give me any of that Band Aid, charity album crap. Throwing money at the problem never has worked and never will work.)

Rant over. Move along, nothing to see here.
