Film & TV / Re: The Thing (2011)

When I first watched John Carpenter's The Thing , all the men were older than me. All had new definitions of wisdoms to share. I'll be twice the age of McReady in the new one possibly and will probably even let a sneer loose at the coping mechanisms each survivor has. Eeh the things they teach youngers these days.

Saying that, I'm going to have to watch it. Because of all the reasons above and that obvious, how does the effects in Carpenter's original compare and contrast etc.

Courtesy of friends off of facebook.  There's a few Andy Curtis fans on here too, I seem to remember.

That's really nice. Vzzbux should get one done for the missus.

Is it the drying process that is giving such time constraints?

Dimbleby's on it tonight, with flag spokesperson at the helm None other than the highly credible Hugh Grant!

But like Dimblez sayz; its not going to stop the questions. I like how the cops started a tit for tat leaking of materials disreputable war at the beginning of the enchilada. They are not going down alone. And, the "Cameron Connection" is an ongoing concern.

That's put me right off twitter that has.  I don't get who's talking to who there and who's following what. I don't wanna know either.

I've seen case files listed as hardback too so I'd lay no validity on their listings.

Oh yes, Amazon are notorious for their odd listings and I'm sure it'll be corrected soon. As far as I'm aware only Slaine and the ABC Warriors get that "album" treatment, as they also have an eye on the European market.

So what gives with the Bison hardback?

Well it's looking good the fact my Missionary Man is due to unload as a paperback. It's one of those blind buys. I like the character, the artist on the numbers it's placement within the archives. I'd usually only do that for Dredd. Missionary Man is just something I feel I'm missing out on.

That's right, All Star Supes Book 2 came as a hardback. I wondered why, with it being preceded by a paperback. Always confused me that.

As for the SuperGods stuff. Not much information on it other than the deep geek miniseries where us everymen dare not wander. I'll have to get some shop wandering done on this front. Can't do it all online.

MCM Manchester at the end of the month may prise me out of my hermit shell.

How would PJ have his own lawyer?  He's legally dead twice over, so presumably any assets he legally held as either Maybe or Ambrose are long since dispersed, and in the case of the latter, not his anyway.  Any lawyer other than a City-appointed one is going to have to be paid with money from secret accounts, i.e. the proceeds of crime.  I'd be surprised if the Judges wouldn't just arrest and interrogate anyone purporting to be a hireling or associate.  'Course, it could be a cunning 'let's see what he'll do' ruse, tracker implanted in the nose, all that.

I'm quite convinced that the lawyer speaking to Maybe is Don Emilio's.  It certainly looks like professional advice, in the panel, page two, with the speech bubble censorship. But there's no hiding Colin's adolescent sound effect on the last panel.

And all of that talk was code so I took it all with a pinch of salt. And even if the escape is all too convenient, the art compels me to believe and enjoy the events taking place.

Certainly encouraging Stevie. :) And I don't know how Emporer does it but Cradlegrave hint got me reminded I want that one too before 2011 is out.

Is Cradlegrave already out? It's not is it?

An August  release too, I expect.

A reader can't loosen up so much around a hard cover  but I got All Star  Superman and compared the hardback. If Quitely had as much say on Missionary Man as he did with that I won't be too fussed.

Yeah, it bothered me a bit that, too. The sales info.
