Other Reviews / Re: The 86ers TPB

I loved the 86ers but felt the final story was far too rushed and didnt satisfactorily wrap things up. It was a very abrupt ending. Don't know why they felt they had to wrap it up so quick just because Gordon didn't want to write it any more. Arthur could have more than capably kept it going for another 2 or 3 series and finished it all up properly.

Anyway, that said, does the ending fit any better when the story is read in one go, TPB style?

Film & TV / Re: Kick-Ass - Trailer

Yeah I saw it last night and it was great.
Probably shouldn't be posting that in a thread about the movie's trailer but too lazy to start a thread review for the actual movie!!!
Anyway I wont review it. It was nice to see a MASSIVE poster of Judge Dredd in the comic shop they all hang out in though. It was probably the largest piece of comic-related art on display and really stood out. Wonder if Mr. Millar had anything to do with that?!?

Good theories guys. I don't know what to think anymore, about any of it! At this stage I'm just along for the ride!

Samantha Slade.
Sinister Dexter.
Sancho Panzer.
Stone Island.

Oh look, they all begin with the letter S... better change that trend...

Harry Kipling.
Vanguard.
The Visible Man (although, thats sorta kinda a cult classic so not necessarily under-rated, I guess)

I'm still weeks behind my reading but I love that cover. Would make a lovely poster. I actually really like these wraparounds, make all nostalgic for the good old days of the 80s when I used to "activate" my poster by removing the staples to get the cover off without ripping it! (Then getting annoyed when the rest of the prog fell apart as I tried to put the staples back in !)
Why is it only Clint gets to do them though? Is that more of Pat Mills clout? ;) I mean, why can't we get a wraparound Zombo cover for example?

Ha! I got Rogue. And when I read the little "personality" description, its actually 100 per cent applicable to me ! Most accurate quiz I've ever taken on Facebook!

The only thing that jumps to my mind is Caballistics inc.
Just do not get the love for that one. Its ok and interesting and everything, fabulous art no doubt, but........it certainly didn't live up to any of the hype when I got around to reading it.

Can't really think of anything else.

Other Reviews / Re: Lobster Random

Lobster Random is great. I was a bit dubious about it at first cos it looked a bit too "gimmicky" (guy with lobster claws grafted to his body) and the character himself looked very awkward. My into to the character was the most recent series, preceded by The Vort, but it inspired me to seek out the previous series. Great stuff.

Lobster Random and Harry Kipling are, in my opinion, 2000ad's current "most underused characters". There should be at least one installment of each per year.

Books & Comics / Redfox
23 March, 2010, 09:39:14 PM
Does anybody remember this 80s comic.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redfox_(comics)

(EDIT - FOR SOME REASON THE CLOSING BRACKET ON COMICS DOESN'T POST INTO THE BROWSER WHEN YOU CLICK THE LINK, ON MY COMPUTER ANYWAY, SO YOU HAVE TO TYPE IT IN YOURSELF TO MAKE THE PAGE COME UP)

It popped into my head a few nights ago and I've been racking my brains trying to remember what it was called these last few days. Finally hit me tonight. What a blast from the past, as soon as I found that wikipedia page and saw the cover it displays, it all came back to me. I had that book and I'm pretty sure I had volume 2 as well. From what I remember it was great stuff. Of course, I would have only been 13 or something when I read it and as we all know, whats good to a 13 year old is not necessarily good to a 30-something year old!!!

Anybody have these? Do they stand the test of time? I'm going to have to go hunting for them on ebay now!!!

(Also just noticed thats a Brian Bolland cover. Sweet!)

Sad news indeed.
