You've got plenty of time Van, comp ends midnight on the 16th of November.

Cheers Kerrin! I doubt I'll be submitting anything though, what with jetlag and also an overflowing pile of work in my "to do" tray at work (cheers to my fellow workmates for keeping on top of things in my absence....not!) I did have an idea knocking about in the old noggin...if by some miracle I find the time I'll certainly post it up but I don't have high hopes!
Great stuff by all involved so far though!

Engaging creative warp-drive --- NOW!
I've got absolutely nothing on this at this point ---- but with a 12 hr flight to Tokyo in a week or so (sans kids and missus, who are flying out ahead on saturday) I plan to put that time to good use and come up with something.
Good luck to all and let your creative juices flow!!!!

Can I add a "Scooby Dooby doo" to that list of admiring whoops.

Fair play to you Locusts - an idea straight off the bat!!!! I can never do that, always takes me a couple of days to come up with something. Still, theres certainly no shortage of scope with that brief so thanks for that Dounreay....should be a huge variety of characters and settings popping up in this one!

General / Re: Tor Cyan, World of Hurt

Yeah I thought Mercy Heights was great and was disappointed when they ditched that premise and sent Tor Cyan off on silly rambles to find out how he was linked to Rogue. I thought after the Friday debacle they would have learned their lesson and left that idea well enough alone.

World of Hurt was four or five stories into his solo series. I dont know what it was all about.

General / Tor Cyan, World of Hurt
13 October, 2009, 01:16:50 PM
My mind is in a World of Hurt after this short story. Does anybody remember this? I've just read it for the first time and I will put my hand up and say I can not for the life of me understand it. Its only 3 episodes long but it jumps around all over the place, scenes come out of place and out of nowhere, it doesnt seem to make any sense. Were the pages printed out of order or something? Some pages have a red background, some black, it jumps from a hospital to the battlefield back and forth but I cant figure out if this is supposed to denote flashbacks/flashforwards/hallucinations....or what. And then it just ends, suddenly, with him back in a spaceship......

Goodness me! Thats knackered my brain for the day, that has!

Yes come on fellows give us a few votes!!!!

This still seems to be the biggest hurdle of the competition. I do understand why, as it takes a good bit of time to read through all the entries and decide. Personally I read them as they appear and then at least when it comes to voting stage I already know the ones that made the biggest impression on me and its easier to pick.

I'd suggest dropping the word count still further to make it easier but since I struggle enough trying to meet the 500 word deadline and since you really couldnt tell a proper story in anything less, I dont think thats a goer.

I dont know. At the very least everybody who enters should vote.

Off Topic / Re: Swine Flu - who's had it?
08 October, 2009, 09:38:55 PM
I think I had it but I dont know if it was really it or just a very bad ordinary flu. I was certainly down for the count for the best part of the week with most of the symptoms and banned from the office from my boss....which was nice....or would have been if I didn't genuinely feel like death.... Anyway, its gone now and none of my family picked it up. Guess I'll never know...

Shakararara - Should a woman, who's been sewn together out of bits, really have any business being that bodacious?

Oh thank God its not just me! I found myself extremely aroused by Eva Procopio in this weeks installment.... I had naughty thoughts I must admit.... Never been turned on by a comic book freakazoid alien before but first time for everything I suppose.....

Prog / Re: Prog 1656: Morked For Death

Well holy hootin' heck.
This weeks prog could have ended at page 8 and it still would have been value for money. I pored over that 6 page Dredd for an age last night, read it again as soon as I finished it the first time. Amazing stuff. And this installment alone just proves that we really don't need good ol' Joe to be strutting his stuff in the "Judge Dredd" strip for it to be valid. Rico is just as compelling a character (okay, so hes the same person essentially) and I don't think a single one of us would object if Joe did go out in a blaze of glory leaving Rico to take his name and centre stage as the title character of the strip. Its brilliant how John has set this up, and since the clone thing has been an integral part of the Judge Dredd story from day 1, having Rico take over as Dredd some day would not even remotely smack of some hastily contrived escape-route, the likes of which the US Superhero mags shunt on readers oh so often. Its just really genius. I stared in awe at the last page of the strip for a loooooooong time as I mulled it all over in my head. I still have no clue where this story is going and I'm loving that.

Oh yeah, everything else in the prog was brilliant too. I just wish Sinister Dexter was in there somewhere, but thats just me!

I noticed while reading those progs for the first time that in the Input pages of those days, there were a HELL of a lot of letters from Simon Spurrier condemning Slaine and calling for its removal from the prog! I mean, the guy had a letter published nearly every other week on the subject! Interesting way to get started in the comic!
