General / 2000AD/Judge Dredd Megazine continuity?
09 October, 2007, 06:01:11 PM
I was wondering, how does continuity work between 2000AD and the Megazine?

In general, how long is it before events in the Megazine are part of 2000AD's storyline? Are some things in the Megazine just not recognised in 2000AD?

Also, what Megazine's have a large impact on 2000AD's Judge Dredd stories?

The reason I ask, is because I have a good ammount of 2000 AD, but a very sparse ammount of the Megazine.

I don't know, a constant Dredd prequel running along side the main series?

I'd rather see the crew focus on Dredd's future, rather than filling in blanks in the past.

Of course, I wouldn't mind Dredd tales set in the past from time to time. Preferably in the Megazine. Kind of like Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight.

I'd love a year long, 52 episode Dredd epic. That would be pretty amazing.

Or at least a 40 episode epic. Something hefty.

The Pit is epic, but it's actually only 14 episodes.

Also, the Invasion is made of up several shorter stories, it's not one 51 episode story.

Apparently Meltdown Man is considered one 50 episode story, making it the longest thrill I can think of.

What is the longest thrill in 2000AD history?

Seems to be Meltdown Man at 50 episodes. This might be considered cheating though. According to this site this appears to be the longest though.

Dredd's longest stories seem to be 26 progs, I can't think of any longer than that.

I think Strontium Dog's longest is Bitch, at 25 progs. ABC Warriors have The Black Hole with 21 episodes.

What's the verdict?

I dont know, since he usually changes the body to look like himself its not really anonymous. How else to you explain him looking the same in countless bodies? And the trademark huge teeth.

And I just checked out those pages in Thee Amigos, forgot about that. He's looking good I might add.

Can you list what stories we've seen it in? I'd like to check those out.

Dredd never shows us his face, as we all know. What about Judge Death? Do we ever see him without a helmet?

I'd imagine it would be pretty fun.

Simon Bisley's the obvious choice for me.

Well, there's always the adult SPAWN cartoon that was on HBO. Also, they show lot of anime and more mature cartoons on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network.

I think there's an older animation audience out there. Not that I think a Dredd cartoon will get made... it would be nice though.

And for the record, I'd love an ABC Warriors cartoon too. That would be epic.

Haha, well I agree with one aspect of your legendary ideas. That Walter the Wobot is a must.

I like your style, since you leave in more stories. To me though, Robot Wars is not very strong for a Dredd epic.

I feel that Dredd really got amazing with The Cursed Earth and Day The Law Died. There are several good stories before those, but that's where everything comes together for me. Thats why I'd want to get there as soon as possible.

Plus, if we ever want to see an animated Necropolis, we'd need to pick up the pace. ;)

Film & TV / Dredd animated series: How would you do it?
23 September, 2007, 07:31:02 AM
Dredd needs an animated series, it would be amazing. If you could plot it out, how would you do it? Here's how I'd do the first season.  :)

Some of the 6-page stories that are mostly action could be adapted in 5 minutes easily. I'd sometimes start an episode with one, then ease into the main plot of the episode.

Episode 1: Starts with Judge Whitey, as a nod to the first Dredd story. The main plot of the episode would be Return of Rico. The characters and world would get introduced too.

Episode 2: I'd start with Spikes introduction, and his arrest by Dredd. Then the episode would be a loose adaptation of The Robot Wars, introducing Walter. Throughout, Dredd would be testing cadet Giant.

Episodes 3 to 6: The Cursed Earth. I'd cut out a couple subplots to make it more focused, naturally Burger Wars and such would be gone.

Episodes 7 to 10: The Day The Law Died.

Episode 11: Punks Rule. Of course, 6 pages is short for a full episode. I'd flesh it out, and show how the city is getting back on track after the epic.

Episode 12: Judge Death. 'Nuff said.

Episode 13: Starts with the Boing story, then covers the Vienna kidnapping.

Episode 14 to 17: Judge Child epic.

Episode 18: Judge Death Lives.

Episodes 19 and 20: Block Mania

Episodes 21 to 26: The Apocalypse War

That's how I would do the first season. Yes, I've got some free time on my hands. How would you guys do it?
