General / Re: Judge dredd face?

Very true. The way I look at it, it's not exactly that Dredd's face is a mystery. It's just that he should never be shown without the helmet, because it adds to his portrayal/characterization, it just works.

Since we can often see the bridge of Dredd's nose, and we've seen his eyes via The Dead Man, we've pretty much seen his face. He just has a normal shaped kind of stoic manly looking face. Though it would vary artist to artist even if we saw it, like Bruce Wayne, so there'd be no definitive look.

*boring direct answer  :D

She wasn't usually quite like that though, to be fair.  :D Still was more lighthearted in general though. (until her solo series)

Should I just bite the bullet and binge, even if that means fast-forwarding through some of my less-favourite thrills, or should I pace myself and take things slower, even if that means missing out on the online buzz ?

Board, please help!

For me the easy answer is to skip all the ones you're not that interested in. If it's being a completest but maybe not feeling like sticking with it, might as well just read the ones that make you excited as a fan. I skip plenty of stuff myself. Or could look at it as stuff you could go back to later if you want.

My prog slog turned into a Dredd slog when the Mega Collection started, so that I'd be able to decide which Hachette volumes to buy - so it's Dredd and Dredd-related strips only for me. It's painful flicking past Strontium Dog, Nemesis, ABC Warriors, Halo Jones et al, but I feel like I'm making progress. I have slowed down a bit since reaching Mark Millar's run, though...

I think the answer to that is simple too, just skip Millar's run.  :D I mean why not?

So as no one has got the prog, the obvious important question is still left hanging...

...what brand of mega-hairspray does Anderson use?

She probably got used to boing after being trapped in it for a while there, maybe it's made out of that chemical compound.  :D

Excellent cover by the way.

For more math fun, say you read roughly 6 progs worth of Dredd a day, let's call it 36 pages of Dredd. 252 pages a week, 42 progs.

At that rate it would take 21.8 weeks to catch up on the 917 progs between Case Files 28 and prog 2000 for example. And adding in the megazine stories, my brain doesn't want to figure that out, but it'd also add to it substantially, I'll make up a number and say another 16 weeks.

It would take a lot of Dredd reading all the time to fit 18 or so years of Dredd in one year is what I'm saying. Which we knew.  :) Gotta love Dredd, and the mammoth quantity of Dredd in existence.

Let's see, for some loose math, Judge Dredd Case Files 27 covers 31 weekly progs of 2000AD. How many varies depending on the length of Megazine stories also in the Case Files etc, some have less than 31 progs for example.

Case Files 27 covers up through prog 1083. 28 will have 1084-1110 etc, so that's 27 progs.

But just for some quick math let's say each Case Files includes 28 progs of Dredd (with a proportionate amount of Meg stories too). Actually let's be generous and say 30 progs each.

2000AD is up to prog 1995, but for this example let's use next month's prog 2000. 2000-1083 means we still have 917 progs left to catch up to prog 2000. Only a bit over halfway there, progs wise.

917 divided by 30 = 30.566, so it would take over 30 more Case Files books to catch up to September 2016. Granted this ratio will change slightly depending on how much Megazine content there is, it was fortnightly for a while etc.

So if they keep releasing three Case Files a year like they did this year, it would take 10 years from now for them to catch up to September 2016 (prog 2000), so even 30 Case Files from now we'll be 10 years behind. Currently we're more like 20 years behind, 18.5 years behind to be exact, since Case Files 27 covers up to February 1998 in 2000AD.

As for when the Case Files will catch up? Well this is a fun brain tickler so I'll keep it going. :D Add 52 progs a year, so let's say 10 more years from now around when the Case Files get to prog 2000, 520 more progs. 520 divided by 32 (calling it 32 since the Megazine isn't fortnightly anymore) is 16.25, so even ten years and 30 more Case Files from now the Case Files will need to print about 16 more Case Files to catch up to where they are then.

Keeping it going, I'll add 520 more progs, divide it by say 33 progs each we'll still need about 16 more Case Files etc etc.

Long story short, 10 years and 30 more Case Files (Case Files 58) it'll catch up to today and be 10 years or so behind at that time. So if you wanna catch up on Dredd before then, you'll need to hop on the 2000AD/Megazine train digitally or in print.

edit: I was beaten in this time, but still, fun to do.  :D

Thanks PsychoGoatee. I think that you are most likely correct and that Amazon is simply posting the wrong number of pages. Its good to know that they are the same size too - I will begin collecting the UK volumes as of now. I also noticed my local comic book store has the first three volumes of the Restricted files so I am picking those up asap as well. Am I correct that TCCF volume 12 is the first color/glossy paper volume?

Yep yep, the change to color happens in Case Files 12, coinciding with when 2000AD went full color in the early 90s.

Maybe somebody will have a better answer, but my guess would just be Amazon being incorrect about the page counts. I've never heard about either version of the Case Files missing any contents in relation to the other.

Personally I have some of both, and now just get the UK ones. I can confirm that the US and UK version are the same height and width at least.

Very nice! I was just re-reading Cursed Earth lately, that's definitely a badass machine.

From the previous page, agreed on the MGSV and Dragon Age Inquisition love, great games!

Lately I've been enjoying a lot of Overwatch, DOOM, vintage Duke Nukem 3D, and this cool free game/mod called GoldenEye Source 5.0 for steam.

Also looking forward to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided next week, lotta gamery.
