Megazine / Re: MEG-300

Great issue! Also, the first Megazine in my subscription I've got over here. Great to have Anderson back in action. I'm a big Boo Cook fan, as my avatar shows. :D

One question, what is a bumper issue? And what does bumper mean exactly, in a comic context?

While it is under-performing, it's made twice in its opening weekend as Hott Fuzz, and a metric million times more than Shaun of the Dead (give or take). Granted, it also has a much higher budget.

And hey, it'll probably make a lot on video and whatnot, but yeah it deserves to make more.

Hello, good citizen!

I recommend catching up on Judge Dredd, and all things John Wagner, Button Man too.

I love it when a plan comes together!

Definitely is the summer of action team movies.

followed closely by boots, the boots are a big aspect.

Very badass. The helmet is truly the most important part, I'd say the shoulders are the second.

The Chuck Norris movie Invasion USA isn't a remake of the one you mentioned, they just share the same title. It's a very fun movie, it involves the best one-on-one bazooka duel in movie history.  :D

From your review I have to point out, just for the sake of science, that while I love Commando and Invasion USA, I think Cobra is really bad. Replace it with Rambo and we've got a deal.  :D

The Expendables is amazing, I was blown away! Fully matched my high expectations.

As far as action goes, this is one of the top 10 ever for me. Ever. Amazingly satisfying. And it didn't lack anywhere really, I loved Eric Roberts as the villain, everybody really shined with their material, especially Dolph and Jet Li in their comparatively smaller roles. Also enjoyed Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia from Buffy)'s small role.

Epic! Also, goes very nicely in a double feature with Scott Pilgrim.

Scott Pilgrim has tons of heart, great performances there, highly polished film, tons of very inventive and awesome techniques and nice touches. Amazing movie, I loved it!

Saw it back to back with The Expendables, pretty glorious Friday night. See these movies!

so will they make the mistake of opening the film in the usa first ??

Don't mind if they do. :D

To each their own. Personally, I think the Aliens score is almost as bombastic as the Judge Dredd score, and the Dredd score doesn't really sound much like Superman to me.

I do think a more gritty and less bombastic score would be good, but I did really like Alan Silvestri's score.

Soundtracks eh? Sounds good, let's see...

Clint Mansell would be a good choice for the musical score. He did Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Smokin' Aces, and Karl Urban's own Doom. :D

If they went with two composers for contrasting styles, like the recent Batman movies, I'd also throw Angelo Badalamenti in there.
