Not official, he did say that he was approached for the part. So, he's in consideration, possibly the front runner.

Can't wait for this movie, I have high hopes.

Cry of the Werewolf has some good Dredd scrapping, he even headbutts a werewolf!

I knew I was forgetting a big one.
Oh dear.

Indeed, I even have the Button Man: The Killing Game graphic novel on my shelf, hardbound. Okay it's actually soft cover...

Oh yeah, Buttonman! Good call on that, I knew I was forgetting a big one, classic.

And hey folks, talking about sex is very normal for us adults, it doesn't mean I'm going to need to... hold on... okay what was I saying?

But yes, sex, it's always a good thing to have in your stories. And to open this topic up more, how about what are some longer or more explored romantic relationships in Wagner stuff? When I think Wagner this stuff isn't the first that comes to mind, which is why it's interesting... or something like that.  ;)

Good topic title, eh? :D

Random question, what are some examples of John Wagner stories where the main character or a prominent character has sex with someone? Not just a one-off random character getting laid, also doesn't have to be from 2000AD.

John is pretty much the best writer in the biz in my book. Just curious, as at the moment I can't think of any, and for a writer who's covered so much I can't think of much he's written involving sex. Of course, needless to say Dredd doesn't get laid, and Alpha was often pretty stoic, refusing Durham Red's advances like Batman would of Catwoman.

One reason this came to mind is A History of Violence. One of the numerous differences is in the movie the main couple are shown having sex on a couple occasions, in the graphic novel they don't. The movie focused more on Tom's wife and their relationship, so it fits better there than it may have in the comic.

Not that every main character needs to get their rocks off, though it seems like something that'd be covered in some of these gritty tales that don't shy away from the taboo.

I'm sure he has written it, but it's not coming to mind. So... sex?

Can't it be both? ;)

Pumped for this movie, oh yes.

Interesting stuff, pretty much its an age old issue. For one thing, while I'd like the things I enjoy to be profitable, if you try to appeal to everyone and not offend 2000AD will lose its edge. To me, that'd be a bad thing. Granted, if 2000AD ceased publication due to poor sales that'd be the worst scenario.

I think 2000AD and the Megazine will live on, and will always get new readers. The idea proposed is that if you appeal to 8-12 year olds you can get new readers. The thing is, you can get new readers of any age. Its survived over 30 years picking up new readers along the way.

The idea that only old readers from way back in the day buy it isn't true, take me for example, I've only been into 2000AD and the Megazine for about five years, and I'm 24. A 30 year old comic reader could pick up 2000AD for the first time next week.

One more point, I disagree with the idea that 2000AD without nudity or profanity would appeal to youngsters. For one thing, there's the graphic violence. But even without that, 2000AD is written for an older audience, its very dialogue heavy, its often complex, etc.

It'd take more than the censorship of the naughty stuff to make this sell to kids, and I don't want to see the comic get dumbed down.

While Byrne clearly has some issues and is quite the internet troll, I've gotta at least point out what an immense talent he is.

A lot of classic X-Men stuff, plus gotta respect people who can both write and draw. It's weird to me that a bunch of people hadn't heard of him in this topic.

Just rocked the Button Man: The Killing Game TPB, classic classic stuff.

I like 2000AD the way it is currently, the progression is natural. Comics are just a more niche market these days, most young kids aren't following them.

I'm happy to see 2000AD aimed at adults. And I'm sure most teenagers can handle it too. :D

Quote from: Judge Olde on 09 July, 2010, 03:48:32 PMThere's been way more issues than 300 & the current numbering was also changed, if I remember correctly.

For the record, there have not been more than 300 issues, the current numbering is accurate.

The first volume of the Meg ran for 20 issues, then they restarted the numbering for volume 2 which ran 83 issues, then volume 3 which ran 79 issues, then volume 4 which lasted for 18 issues.

Those all add up to 200 issues, and the current numbering started with Megazine 201, accurately reflecting how many issues there are, and we're still going on that numbering today.

Well, luckily after e-mailing a few, one online comic store did pre-order this for me.

300, that's pretty historic. :D

Can you not order one off issues from here?

I don't think you currently can from the online shop.

Quote from: willthemightyW on 04 July, 2010, 09:30:47 PMOh and by the goateee, can't you get it off a back issue site after it comes out?

Possibly, know any good ones? The usual sites generally have the megazines out of stock and backordered.
