The rumour is he had to stand down because he signed up for the new Flash Gordon movie, but by a cruel twist of irony he's playing Dale Arden and not Ming.

If he stuck a penis onto his forehead, some people might find it offensive, although he would be the first person in history to be called "knobhead" and not regard it as an insult.:)

He must have too much time and money because no sane person would want to graft an ear onto their arm. I find it offensive but if there are no laws preventing it, he can do what he likes. It's not art more freak show!

It looks like an April Fools joke but it appears to be genuine.

General / Buttoman 4 isn't really a Buttonman story
14 October, 2007, 11:50:36 PM
The more I read Buttonman 4, the less it seems a Buttonman story. The other Buttonman stories were about the voices telling the Buttonmen whom to kill and the Buttonmen relishing the challenge but Buttonman 4 is more a female Death Wish in plot. Harry Exton's hardly been in the story.

I'm enjoying the story but it seems more a conventional revenge story than part of the Buttonman universe. If you removed the voices and Exton it would be a conventional revenge tale. By strange coincidence the story has a vague similarity to the new Jodie Foster movie The Brave One:

'Radio host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) is working and living a wonderful life in New York City without a care in the world. One night she and her fiancé, David (Naveen Andrews), are brutally attacked by three thugs in the park. David is killed and Erica is beaten within an inch of her life. Erica is traumatized to a point where she can not sleep and will not leave her apartment. To cope and work past this tragic event, Erica becomes someone else. She buys a gun and begins to roam the streets at night looking to take her revenge on the men who were responsible for killing her one true love.' Source IMDB

Prog / Re: Prog 1558 - Button Down!.........

I can't believe Caballistics, Inc. has ended for good as Ethan Kostabi implied his plan to destroy Earth was just a ruse to get Ravne to attack him. Kostabi wanted to be free of his mortal flesh. If Cabs has ended for good then it's pretty disappointing end.

The new Buttonman story reads better if you view it as a spin-off story. Harry Exton appears to be a supporting character.  The other Buttonman series were about Harry. The title: The Hitman's Daughter, gives it a spin-off feel. Does anyone else feel this way? The change in artist also makes it feel more like a spin-off.

Prog 1556 - ABC Warriors Part 7. If you look at page three, the fifth panel on the far right you'll see Nemesis.

Not sure anyone spotted Nemesis but he's there. Take a look and you'll see. Nice to see him make a cameo.

"If Adele had entered the game and chosen to kill for the voices it would have been a legitimate third sequel to the original Buttonman story but it's just Death Wish with a female protagonist."

"No, it would have been predictable and seen-it-before - for want of a better term, very 'comic-booky.' As I said earlier, this tack is better because it explores the context of the game within the wider world to an extent we haven't previously seen."

I see your point but it's fair to say Harry Exton is not the leading character, he's a supporting character so it's not really a true Button Man story. Adele Cotter is the main protagonist, not Harry, and, cruically, she's not a Button Man. There's nothing in the story about the voices giving their button men hits to carry out so in that respect it's nothing like any previous Button Man story.

I think Tharg could have promoted it as a spin-off series rather than a fourth Button Man story. It's an entertaining story but it doesn't add anything new to the Button Man world or its continuity, and the Death Wish comparison seems valid.

It's not a true Button Man story, this is probably why some people don't like it as much as the other Button Man stories. Button Man was about people being paid to kill other people and them enjoying the kill, but Adele Cotter is an ordinary woman seeking to avenge the death of her father. If Adele had entered the game and chosen to kill for the voices it would have been a legitimate third sequel to the original Buttonman story but it's just Death Wish with a female protagonist.

I don't recall the killers of her father even taking a marker. The killers are called Button Men because they take a button, a marker.

Wikipedia:

'The object of the game is to kill your opponent, or capture him and take his marker - the first two joints of a finger.'

Did the killers of Ronnie Cotter take his finger? I don't think they did. That aspect of the Button Man world was ignored making this current story even less like a Button Man story.

I find much of Simon Spurrier's Fink Angel Elvis dialogue inpossible to understand and utter rubbish. Can't he just write the language in normal text and we use our imagination to hear them saying it with a Southern American accent?

This is actual Simon Spurrier dialogue from Pizan: Impossible:

"Alluh them, Aluh them, Yuns A-hidin' Dunn Hyuh

Salotta rads, lotta huh cawt icks anna lotta swit swit buhguns all fulla chems changifand me son.

Ah see ybn bin changed too. Ah know how it is. Know how luhnsuhm y'get."

He gets paid to write that?!!!!!!!!!!!! People go on about Mills' dialogue. At least you can read it and understand it. I can't understand most of Spurrier's dialogue. Terrible. Worst ever 2k writer by a country mile.
