Meant to do this last week but what with one thing and another. Anyway here's the other work I did in preparing and planning some other Zuda entries.

Props is a story about obsessive collecting - something many people here should be able to relate to!

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/colin.ynwa/Props#

President Croc (working title) is a tale of a New York sew Crocodile running for the US presidency

http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/colin.ynwa/PresCroc#

and my personal favourite, the story that I've been working on for a few years now and even has a demo 22 page comic that I self published (and have a hundred or so copies of sitting in my loft if people really want a copy for free) 'Ape in a Space-suit'. A story of evolutionary biology and fundamental relgion, or just an excuse to have a cool ape run around and fight dinosaurs and stuff...

My plan was to turn these into scripts. I find being a failed artist I'm best doing my 'writing' using thumbnails like this. I think of stories visually. It then really helps with writing up as it distils what's really important in a panel and so hopefully I could send an artist a script that is not cluttered with detail but rather contains the essential information from which they can have a free hand to tell the story as they see fit.

That's really interesting. As you say how much of a market there is for it is hard to say BUT I'd definately be interested. The trouble is as it'll be pretty specialist how much it'll cost?

Finally got around to listening to this, after the thief of my laptop I've had to wait for a quiet afternoon in work which today has blessedly brought.

Anyway dmaned fine work as ever and how much fun did it sound like you were having.

One point I haven't seen anybody speculate wildly about is the fact that PJ Holden said that he was doing a retrospective Dredd with Alan Grant set during Block Mania, and the implication was that there might be a series of these. Well you're left to ask yourself why they'd go to retrospective Dredd stories... unless...

Well I did say wild speculation!

Yeah I now have a sub to 2000ad. Everytime I've left it, and over the years I think thats about 4 times now, I've always come back tail between my legs and bought a load of the issues I've missed.

This lastest time after my longest absense, some 10 years, I think I'm finally old enough to have learnt my lesson and will continue to get it while its produced if only to stop the hassle of tracking down back issues again. Have a full set now the first 40 issues aside and intend to keep it that way (well until I'm through this newly started raising young children stage and my disposible income gets back to the level were tracking those first 40 down becomes justifiable).

As for the Meg I'm getting sooooo tempted BUT for me, given the afore mentioned young child at the moment it isn't worth the price. There's not enough original content and the extra graphic novel doesn't make it worth the while as its nearly always material I have already. Not sure how long I will resist as what new material there is does sound damned good!

What a great post. Old skool letters page here we come!

I'm ask for the Summer Specials back and maybe a return of the Yearbooks (rather than the annuals) cos I loved that format.

Similar to the question about Origins I'm intrigued as to what chunks of Cursed Earth they selected?

Nowt to be sorry for. It was a very kind offer that didn't work out mainly cos my impatience got the better of me! Glad you managed to rehouse the rest of ya stuff and all round you've been doing damned fine working helping people out.

Wow it looks like special effects have almost caught up with Terry Gilliams imagination! Looks fantastic and is that Tom Waits I see playing the Devil - double good!

Well I Started American Gods yesterday, is it worth it or am i wasting my time (opinionsplease I have 3 friends that have read 2 like 1 said it was a pile of crap).

Its ok a bit of a page turner but nothing too new for Gaiman.

Prog / Re: Prog 1648: Cutting Crew!
10 August, 2009, 08:35:54 AM
Read this on my return from camping last night. Defoe though readable reminded me that I'm not a big fan. I think its the way having established that technology is different in this world Mills plays fast and loose with the world he has created. The car chase just really didn't sit well, nor its ending.

Still there is much better stuff in the prog the Dredd story was a perfectly satisfactory ending, Red Sea's continues to be an interesting interlude but the highlight is the great Sinister Dexter which I really think is firing on all cylinders at the moment... mind any body remember Bushwacker from Nocenti's Daredevil! Now absolutely convinced there's more to the work done on Romane.

Good prog if not great.

Help! / Re: Marvel UK Incredible Hulk Question

Hulk Weekly also carried the Black Knight strip that featured Captain Britain just to the Alan Davis stuff. Its a great strip with art by John Stokes and I think written by Steve Parkhouse... need to dig this out to be sure about that?

Anyway that strip available in volumes 3 and 4 (out soon) of Panini's Cap Britian reprints if that's of interest.

There's a little more info about the other original materials at Wikipedia if you fancy using that (grrrr)
