They won't publish a report of court proceedings unless they have a reporter who was there at the time. Newspapers have a policy that they should give the outcome of cases they've reported previously, especially if the plea was not guilty, but sometimes staffing or other issues mean it doesn't happen.

There's no possibility that, this long after the case, they will report its outcome in the paper, but well done to them for listening, and taking the story off the web.

Thanks for the info. Its useful to know that they do have such a policy. Wish I'd been as proactive as those who e-mailed straight away as then they wouldn't have the excuse that too much time has passed for it to be relevant.

Well the last issue of Tankies was great. I've really enjoyed the series and I'm very much looking forward to the sequel, although it will keep Carlos away from 2000ad for a while, he seems to be getting a lot of work in America these days.

Anyway Ennis will be returning with a sequel to Tankies and a couple of other 3 issue Battlefields mini next year apparently. Something to look forward to.

Well while we're talking about the positives can we also discuss the evil that can be done with the blue and occasional green cheese - veil vainy peril...

I've ranted about Virgin media elsewhere on the boards (can't for the life of me remember where) so I'll not repeat all that. Suffice to say the crap customer service and refusal to acknowledge complaints had me moving on elsewhere. Which? give them a terrible rating and I know exactly why!

You have my sympathy - good luck.

Whatever you do don't try the hazard perspection test thats just crazy. I did this recently (still not taken by proper test) test and while the regular test is ok once you've looked through the highway code and learnt any number of surprising facts, the hazard perception is pretty tricky. Well once you've done a few practices its fine BUT you're learning how to pass the test NOT actually spot hazards.

Reckon you could've save yourself a lot of typing and just gone with the bit in bold.

Oh come now, this is the internet. Since when has someone apologised on this thing without trying to at least save face... or bore people into submission with their woffle!

You know what this means, of course?

Colin will have to show a bit of backbone and either explain his genuine error or at least have the courage to admit he was wrong and apologise to you.

Completely agree. Though of course I was very careful to fill my post with ifs and enough doubt to assume nothing. David's done the right thing and explained what happened and that it was a genuie error. Nowt more to it than that.

Well, no, not really.

QuoteIf the pushing in suggestion was malicious, intentionally or otherwise, that's bang out of order and you're complelely due an apology

This doesn't even make sense.  "Malicious, intentionally or otherwise"?  If it's malicious, it's intentional, surely?  It's also your only 'if' (as opposed to your post being filled with "ifs") and in your next paragraph, you seem to assume that David is failing to show any backbone for simply failing to respond within a time frame that suits you.

I know Mr B. doesn't really give a toss and I was, initially, just winding you up a bit for fun- but actually, yeah, now that you're trying to dodge accusing David of having no backbone, I think you ought to show a bit of backbone yourself and apologise.  I'll leave it with you.

Ok this seems to be escalating so I'll explain myself and hopefully we can resolve this.

Can't argue the point about malicious and intentional it does kinda (actually kinda is probably being very generous!) contradict itself. My posts are often filled with errors and anyone can have a field play picking them apart if they wished and when pointed out I can do nowt but hold up my hands.

One point I would like to defend is I never claimed numerous ifs I said

"fill my post with ifs and enough doubt to assume nothing"

Which I think I did. Ok it should have read 'an if and enough doubt' but I'll let myself off that, you of course can choose not to. I made it clear I didn't know if it was done with malicious intent (hope its used ok there) or just a genuine mistake. But either way I think some fella (regardless of how few post or otherwise he has) deserves to understand why some one has given him information that he percieves as worsening his situation. I also think David would have done well to clear the air given the sitution, something he has of course done now.

I'll agree that trying to 'call him out' is over the top and a silly internet thing people do and I really should know better. I was thinking it might (PLEASE note the might) have been a joke that went wrong and in that case was defo owned an apology. David had been off the board for a while longer than is often the case, a situation he has since explained, and so I wondered if he was just ignoring the issue. But yeah I guess using emotive terms like 'backbone' and 'courage' was a bit silly and for that I do apologise. I was trying to make sure there was an explaination, which we now got BUT it got more of a reaction and I probably should have been a bit more thoughtful about the way I tried to see what was going on.

I normally try to avoid the type of internet bickering that's going on here (overall not just in reference to you (and others who may not have said anything) not liking what I've said) as forum, e-mails etc can be awash with misinteruption and misunderstanding. In this case I thought since this fella clearly feels pretty pissed off (understandably due to having a knackered bit of stuff) and a clear explaination would be the easy solution I'll raise my head a bit. The way I did it was hamfisted and so it is worth setting things straight.

Oh, you know here I thought you were mad at the cheese bit - I was completely fooled by the pushng the jack in further instructions as well. This entire time I had been thinking something had gone way over my head - well, it had, just not in the way I thought! Sorry for misjudging you, doktor.

Stupid as this might make me sound I'm with you there. I really thought this was a bit of an over reaction to a silly bit of fun and I was keeping out the way as I didn't feel I had anything to add. If the pushing in suggestion was malicious, intentionally or otherwise, that's bang out of order and you're complelely due an apology.

Come on David have a bit of backbone come on and either explain that it was a genuine error or at least have the courage to admit you were wrong and apologise.

Sounds great. Make it happen!! Even as a Zuda story - we need more Brits to show them how its done!! As well as delivering a great story one of the keys to doing well is getting the numbers to vote for you and, if the Eagles is anything to show, it is usually possible to get enough votes together to at least make a dent in what might otherwise be dominated by American comics.

Well if someone has the time to draw it for me I'm up for it. The poster page I did for it is up in the competition thread now. Man I'd love this this story to see print.
