All the time!  That's what second-opinions are for!  But I can tell you this, I've never yet profited by doubting Matt Smith.

I have. Mr Tony Lee was kind enough to buy myself and mrs BPP a load of drinks based on us getting a quiz host to unintentionally make a repeated joke about his time on the Prog. He was a totally charming chap about it.

Well, thats everyone who dissed Andrew Currie's art firmly told.

(btw - your own posts are full of disagreeing with professionals, so, ya know...... *shrug*)

Anyway, no point arguing with a mod so I'd best wish you a safe trip RC and be off to my book.....

I doubt anyone needs you to be touchy on their behalf.

I rarely raise an eyebrow on these forums at anything published in 2000AD so don't need upbraided when I suggest one character's actions just dont seem to fit for me. Invoking their professionalism, and thus implying I was doubting it, is a particularly loathsome canard enchane.

The hardback of Tales From Beyond Science just shipped at the 'cheaper than the paperback' bongo price of £4

Alot of the stores Amazon lists as alternatives are actually Amazon - such as the CrookDepository - ex competitors that they have bought up and run on different terms (packaging options etc). Given that the tailored micro-sites often come within 1p of each others prices (often Wordery is 1p cheaper than BookDespicably) then its clear they work off some master pricing feed - and thus all make the same pricing errors.

Anyone say 'abuse of a monopoly position?' Sussssshhh.....

yes, lets force-ably evict 1000s of people, spend judicial resources tracking them and shifting them... all for a 'cunning plan'. Aye.

He's onto a winner if he enters Stars In Their Eyes doing 'Mutants in Mega City One'.

Prog / Re: Strontium Dog- is it working for you?

Yep. Works for me.

Although I am now in fear of a MC scripted Stront where Alpha says '....but not you Scottish mutants, we've done a deal with the norms for you to be sterilized. Look, they've given us some food and a lotto ticket!'.

Anybody get the feeling that 2000 AD has something seriously good on their hands with the Judge Dredd "Wolves" storyline?

Nope. The Hershey move is completely out of character and the jurisprudence ethos of Wagners creation. Sure there have been massive citizen bodycounts and sacrifices (and to be honest when Dredd doesnt flinch over innocents being collateral I never find it convincing) but for Hershey to just dump out tens of thousands of citizens on an arbitrary criteria is wholly out of step with the history of the character and the ethics of the Judges. Much like the end of Trifecta (in terms of Hershey and Dredd's relationship) I'm not convinced by others writing what was previously the preserve of Wagner. In addition the use of a lot of wagner and grant devices (the TV interviews, the parody characters) just feel like less well executed versions of Wagner and while the art has been good the story was interesting till it took the massive Hershey-misstep. MC has a touch of the weeping gal approach to citizens and I was preparing myself for his version of the WWII Japanese internment camps with this one but now I'm even more astounded to think Hersey is being portrayed as kicking out thousands of law abiding citizens. Which makes her Bachmann.

between Origins - Tour of Duty - Day of Chaos the other writers left Wagners creations well alone, now Trifecta and Wolves are ripping their relations up. Does this mean Wagner has signalled he's relinquished 'guiding' the strip via his arcs?

On the other hand... God I love The Rea Seas.

Tks, certainly wasn't meaning to imply that Minty had a door fee - just know that when the good people of TV and Film land are attending conventions there can be $$$ involved.

Obviously PJ comes for a couple of aeros and the promise of a hot chocolate.  :P

Is paying into W5 (the venue) enough to be able to see the film? I'd really like to see Minty but frankly aside from some folk I see fairly often around town there is faff all else of interest there...

Jean-Paul Bove 'comic artist for.... 2000AD' ?

Well despite the book clearly being second hand (or extensively handled prior to sale - the damage is INSIDE a protective case that is not damaged, the traditional wrap on the book is absent) and damaged they refused to replace / accept return of the item. So I'm left with a large very expensive damaged book and a 40 quid hole in the wallet. Fuck em. Buyer beware kids, if you buy from them you're taking a risk.

Unlike their parent company, the book depository seem to operate a 'under no circumstances will we accept returns' policy.

Would be terrible for them if their parent company somehow ended up with this copy in their own inventory..

IDW's deliberate intention is for the back-up strip to be somehow connected to the first story - so issue 1 had the riots in the same shopping mall that the main story took place in, Issue 2 had more on Anderson who had been introduced in the main strip etc..

In theory its a nice enough idea to expand the 'world' quickly. Its also a chance to get readers adjusted to 5-6 page Dredd stories - something that might pay off for readers who then pick up 2000AD itself off the back of the comic.

Can't say I've been impressed with the comic at all but as ever we're not the target market so...

(And the Year One stuff looks great.)

This has a huge gash along the (probably mock) leather spine. Hardly ideal in a coffee-table book.

Red Seas Casefile.

IDW to do a a huge oversize slipcase thing with Dante. I'd sell my granny for that, and that would involve a lot of digging on my part.

Are they owned by Amazon? Hum. Their returns seems alot more 'we're going to dispute this' than amazon. Have a vague feeling I'm going to have to buy a second copy off amazon and send this dodgy one to them under their no-quibbles returns unless I want a 40 quid book with a torn leather cover.
