Events / Re: Enniskillen Comic Fest 2017

After missing last years because of only finding out about it too late I'm totally looking forward to this. If Enniskillen has 1/4 the magic of 2D it will be a great affair.

Sector zero... Such a threat they were taken out by a collapsing gangway.

That's a great Johnny Alpha. Tharg should ask Wagner to do a one and done old school Strontium Dog for Ian if he can do an Alpha that classic looking.

Always felt Sean Philips early 2000ad stuff was style over narrative... Part of the wave of 2000ad trying too hard to be Deadline. In comparison the Armitage stuff that's appeared over the last decade has been solidly good comics, especially the Dredd cameo one.

Helltrekers is top notch. Looking forward to its hardback collection.

Books & Comics / Re: New Comic Book Day Megathread

Both of Jims picks are great comics, but the art on Black Hammer deserves special praise - it just exudes a sadness and melancholy in its line work, panel framing, colour and characterisation that sells the story from the very first page. On the whole I've less than no interest in spandex stories but this is one very rare exception. It's a fantastic comic.

Stray Bullets - The Goddamed - Americian Monster - Providence - Lady Killer and Black Road would be my other picks of the very best of the year. Many other great comics out there tho.

This afternoon I polished off Robbie Burns: Witch Hunter by Rennie / Beeby / Trevallion / Campbell and what a sumpteous treat it was. Minus a point for the reproduction being very dark in colouration (something I think the first Monsterology suffered from too) which really hid too much of Trevallion's lines but the story and storytelling from all was top notch and very 2000AD (if the creators don't mind me saying). 10/10 and I'd even buy it again if the colour levels were given a re-examination.

It just arrived here.
Doubt I'll unbox it and not worth the cash but not terrible. I think it's more the 'big head' style of these has no appeal to me.

Give credit to MyGeekBox tho - a full GN (turncoat - not the image series rather this - turncoatcomic.com) a wearable tshirt (NWA's logo repurposed to say 'straight out of Gotham') the Dredd figure, a Simpsons figure and a deadpool Callander. Seems a full swag bag even if little appeals to me.

found it on Instagram - oversized head thing like POP! Collectables. Not really my bag.

Not the worst tshirt (fairly anonymous) deadpool and Simpsons stuff of zero interest.

.....

Am braced for a load of tat in the rest of it tho... Does remind me to shift on that nonsense from the Rogue Trooper Dog Tags Zbox.

Have NO idea who thinks buying these things a good idea.

...Whatever floats your boat, shitting on peoples joy isn't one that works for me.

Just sayin'

Just stirring you mean, and showing your calibre as a man in the process.

As far as I'm aware nobody on this forum has evidenced a propensity to subscribe to nerd boxes so your point has zero weight and shows up what scrapings you'll scoop too. Classy.

It beats the hell out of some of the covers on the old regular series.

One more voice for Black Road - Magnus the Black is a very 2000ad character.

So many great books came out this year She Wolf and Stray Bullets can do no wrong but I'd have to think a bit to get a comic better than House of Penance which was a remarkable 6 issue weird-fest.
