I never received an email confirmation that my subscription had been renewed. For three weeks, I have been emailing every subscription-related email address I can find on this site, plus I've used the "contact" form on this site, and have gotten no response. Does anyone out there maybe have the direct email address for someone in that department, or any ideas of what else to try?

(I'd prefer not having to call them on the phone, because my phone isn't actually set up for making international calls.)

Thanks!

Other Reviews / Rogue Trooper: Crucible
19 November, 2004, 12:58:04 PM
Just finished Gordon Rennie's Rogue Trooper novel tonight, and I've got to admit, I was surprised at how much I ended up enjoying it.  Much of its success lies in the broader scope of the story, much more of a Nu Earth war novel, rather than just a Rogue Trooper story.  Yes, Rogue is there, and plays a prominent role in the novel, but his is just one story among many.  It sounds like a cliche, but this really did feel like a story too big to be told as a comic.  And now I'm really looking forward to the Rogue Trooper reprints from DC/Rebellion, so I can get finally read the whole Traitor General story, now that my appetite has been whetted by this book, Rennie's Rogue stories over the last few years, and the one Titan book I have.  And I want to read more about Rafe and some of the other characters introduced (or spotlighted) in this novel, so hopefully, one day, we'll see Rennie's Rogue Trooper spin-off strip...

Got Swimming in Blood yesterday, and it's got comics in color, comics in black and white, and text stories.  Despite Jamie's having said elsewhere that DC prefers not to include text stories, it's nice to see that there apparently isn't a hard and fast rule about everything having to be comics, everything in a book having to be either color or black and white...

Help! / Rebellion UK GNs in the US?
27 October, 2004, 12:49:12 PM
Are the Rebellion UK graphic novels (not the DC/Rebellion ones; the other ones) going to be distributed in the US at all?  I haven't seen anything in Previews since Button Man/Necronauts/that bunch.  (I realize I can order them from this site, too, but it's just easier to have my comics shop order them for me, rather than pay postage every month, or wait and order bunches at a time, for a larger cost all at once...)

Help! / FAO J-Bo-1: DC vs Titan (the new list)
07 October, 2004, 11:22:48 AM
Jamie: With Newsarama posting a new list of upcoming DC/Rebellion trades, I need to ask if the following are any different from the Titan editions I already have:

ABC Warriors: The Black Hole
Judge Anderson: Anderson - Psi-Division (I guess the question is if it's the same as Titan's book one)

(And I'm presuming that Strontium Dog: The Early Cases does not simply duplicate the Titan Portrait of a Mutant collection.)

I figure Halo Jones must be the same, but there's a good chance I'll be getting a new copy anyway, to give to a friend who borrows my 2000AD every week and can't understand why I'm so excited about Ian Gibson drawing... well, anything, really.

As always, thanks in advance!

Andrew

Help! / Attn Jamie B: DC vs Titan?
20 September, 2004, 10:42:21 AM
Here's the thing: having gotten back into 2000AD in the last couple of years, I got a bunch of the recent (last gasp of) Titan reprints.  Now, some of the new DC/Rebellion reprints look to have some of the same content, but might have some extra material that Titan didn't collect.  I get my comics mail-order, so I can't just look at them in the shop.  So, Jamie, can you please tell me if these announced DC collections have the same material in them as the Titan books, or if they contain additional stories?

Skizz (Does it include the Baikie-penned sequels?  Or am I misremembering hearing that there were Baikie-penned sequels?)
Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death
DR & Quinch (Including the Delano-scripted one-pagers?)
Necropolis (including The Dead Man?)

Sorry to keep asking, but the entries in the Previews catalogs can be vague at times.  And since I have to order the books sight unseen, I want to make sure I'm not getting the exact same thing I've already got.  So you'll probably be hearing from me again, unless you can somehow announce or post the exact content of each book a couple of months before they come out...

General / 2000AD: Too Artsy?
13 September, 2004, 10:36:46 AM
There's this "comics review" web site called TheFourthRail.com, which gets quoted all over the place, even though it seems to be written by chimps who type.  I look at it at work sometimes when I just need a break, and always end up regretting it.  Anyway, every month, they do a column where they list their thoughts on the current Previews catalog, and had this to say about JUDGE DREDD: JUDGMENT DAY:

"I'm sure it speaks to my lowbrow, action/adventure leanings that the first collaboration from DC/Humanoids or DC/2000 AD that I'm most interested in is this first Judge Dredd collection as opposed to all the more artsy ventures."

Now me, I like Sinister Dexter just fine, but I know it's got its detractors.  But for all the criticism I've seen, I'll bet nobody has ever accused it of being too "artsy" before...

Help! / Metrocafe.co.uk Dredd strips?
12 March, 2004, 10:36:12 AM
Okay, I can't find the Judge Dredd strips online at www.metrocafe.co.uk.  Are they posted there at all yet?  Can anyone tell me what section they're in?  Thanks...

General / Listening to the Big Finish CDs?
01 July, 2003, 06:40:37 AM
Nobody here seems to be talking about the Big Finish 2000AD CDs, which is a shame, because they're just getting better and better.  The two Strontium Dog stories (which, unless sales improve, may end up being the only two Strontium Dog stories) are just fantastic.  The Dredd series has seen new script-droids Jonathan Morris and James Swallow join up recently, helping give the line a greater diverity of tone and voice.  Morris's I Love Judge Dredd is a hilarious comedy.  Swallow's Dreddline is a gripping action-adventure movie, along the lines of a Die Hard or Under Siege 2, told in real time, and on audio.  It's fast paced, thrilling, and funny, all at the same time.

Next month, we get 99 Code Red, written by Strontium Dog audio script droid Jonathan Clements, who also wrote the Dredd audio, Trapped on Titan.  If his previous work is anything to go by, it should be a moody, suspenseful, deliberately paced tale, and one I'm really looking forward to.

I must confess, it was the Big Finish stories that got me back reading 2000AD and the Megazine regularly again.  In the US, I became a fan through the Titan books and Eagle comics reprints, but could never get the "real thing" on a regular basis.  I thought I had grown out of Dredd fandom through lack of contact.  However, I had been listening to and enjoying other Big Finish series, and based on their quality, and my fondness for the 2000AD characters, I decided to give the first one a try.  It completely reignited my interest, so I subscribed to the audio line, and to the comics.

So is anyone else out there listening to the audios on a regular basis, and just not talking about it here?  I feel like producer-droid John Ainsworth and his team have made a real effort to capture the feel of the strip on audio.  (And I can't read a Dredd story without hearing Toby Longworth's voice at this point...)

Help! / Slaine: Time Killer collection
27 April, 2003, 10:54:36 AM
Will the upcoming Time Killer book from Titan have any stories in it that aren't currently being reprinted in the Megazine?  (In other words is it just the Time Killer story, or does the book have more than one story in it, like how Slaine the King has that and Sky Chariots?)
