Off Topic / ximoc comp for March ends soon.....
29 March, 2003, 12:23:14 AM
On Monday night to be exact.

April sees ximoc's first birthday, it's been a year since I started publishing the site.

I'm off out tomorrow night to celebrate, hoohaaa.

April will also have a fest of competitions, one a week for the month (well four in total anyway) to commerate the event, prizes include signed Ian Gibson Judge Anderson 'Hour of the Wolf' books, ABC Warriors 'The Black Hole' book and a few other things I havn't decided yet.

The near future of ximoc will see the addition of a comics to film section to be called 'in the frame' and the comic retailers index (as soon as I get a reasonable list).

We'll also have the return of 20 questions and I think Gordon Rennie will be first up for that.

As usual all, some or none of the above may or may not happen, just have to get the head down and get it sorted.

Cheers..

Off Topic / Boarders help required!!!
28 March, 2003, 06:39:43 PM
Part of ximoc.co.uk will be a directory of comic shops in the uk, so far I've managed to track down about 150 shops but I'm sure I'm missing lots more. Here's where you can help.

Can everyone email me with the name and address of the shop where they buy their comics?

I'm trying to get the most complete list of retailers possible for the site.

Thanks.

General / FEEDERS
28 March, 2003, 06:24:49 PM
Did anyone see that docu on C4 last night about the Fat Girls and there feeders.

Christ, Mega City One lifestyles are here and now!

If you didn't see it the programme was about blokes with a fat fetish who fed their partners until they were so fat they couldn't move. The people were BIG, some poor woman got up to 50 STONE!!!!!

How far off a tonne is that, how many stone in a Tonne.

Frickin crazy world.....

I expect to see programmes on bite fights (Tyson has started that already), Bat Muggers, Killer Cars, Boing (R), Hunter Clubs (Washington Sniper) etc.....

Just checked, 50 stone is about 1/3 of a tonne so some way to go there.

THE FUTURE IS NOW!!!!!

Help! / I'm selling my comics
19 March, 2003, 07:41:43 PM
Well, most of them anyway. I just can't justify all my debt against the mountain of comics I never look at so have decided to do a clear out.

I was just wondering about the best way to go about it.

Should I try ebay or give the clasifieds section here a go first.

Has anyone sold stuff through the classifieds?

Any horror stories I should know about?

Advice please...

I ask this because my current partner thinks my comic collecting is a complete waste of time and even though she is an artist herself (with exhibitions worldwide) she fails to see any artistic merit in comics AT ALL.

Every time my sub issue falls through the door I get grief along the lines of 'not more comics' and 'when are you going to get rid of those things' and 'are they worth anything?' etc.... etc.... etc....

I have tried (and failed) to explaine that comics are a form of entertainment and escapeism (sp?) and are aimed at a broad audience of various age groups and backgrounds, like films, books and TV etc... and in these entertainment forms there are good and bad examples.

The usual reply is the usual 'kids stuff' argument.

I could suggest to her perhaps actually reading a comic might at least give her a grounding for her arguments, I could suggest reading Love & Rockets, Neat Stuff, Hate, Watchmen, V For Vendetta, Ronin, Hellboy, The League Of Extraordinery Gentelmen or any other number of books that have entertained me over the years, but I fear things would once again degenerate into the 'kids stuff' argument and would be a waste of her time.

And as for my website (ximoc.co.uk) all she bangs on about is 'are you making any money yet?'

She then goes off the watch Eastenders/Corry/Emerdale/Hollyoaks or whatever piece of shit she actually consideres dramaictly superiour enough for the high intelect.

IT MAKES ME MAD!!!!

So, anyone else out there with similar experiences, or perhaps your partner encourages your hobby.
