Previously mentioned 'mate' would use the clean plates, cups, knives, forks, spoons etc.. for his meals then leave the dirty dishes outside his room. They would pile up until there were no clean dishes left.

He also once almost burned the house to the ground.

He made his meal on a saturday night, turned the cooker off by the wall whitch without turning the actual rings off.

Next day he turned the cooker on the use the oven and had a bath.

While in the bath the ring that had the chip pan on heated up (because he hadn't turned the ring off the night before), the pan went on fire and it was only when he got out of the bath  did he realise anything was going on.

I came into a blackened kitchen with him panicking and saying 'it wasn't my fault!!' despite the fact that he was the only person there the entire weekend.

We started cleaning the mess using damp teatowels, what a fuckin mess.. I soon discovered that dry teatowels worked better at actuall removing the soot. I suggested using the dry teatowels to him to which he replied 'tut, you could have said that earlier'. I almost threw him out the window the ungreatful prick. He seemed to forget that I was the one helping him clear up the bloody mess he made in the first place..

Why oh why do I put up this people like this???

I think what we can surmise from this thread is that mates are shit and we should all live alone with no contact with anyone, ever so to avoid any complicated relationships.

I'm off to live in solitude... anyone want to join me??

While we're ranting....

If you plan to share a flat/house with 'mates'' I advise you NEVER to get you name on the Gas/Electricity/Water or whatever 'cos not only is it a pain in the ares getting money out of them when the bill comes in (although plenty of money for the pub on the same night) but when  the time comes to leave the house/flat it will be you left with the final bill.

I had my name on the electricity on a house I  shared years ago with a 'mate' when I asked him for the final £50 the was his share of the final bill all I got was 'I don't have that sort of money'..

Now I should have just exploded with him to say did he expect me to pay his way and did he think I was his mother or something... but I didn't.

I just didn't bother much with him after that and on the rare occasion I bump into him it's just a 'how you doin' and move on.

The behavoural analist who works with my son (he's autistic) is also quite friendly with us, she's also just moved about 7 doors down the road, which is handy for the boy..

Anyway, she was in the house on a social visit and seen the way the mother of my child behaved, such as asking me to pick something up when she could easily do it herself and even if it's easier for her to do it herself.

I'll pick it up (or do whatever the dumb request is) for a quiet life.

The behavoural analist said I was 'reinforcing her behaviour' by actually doing what ever minor task it was she asked.

She'll continue to ask for these things because she knows I'll do it with maybe a grumble but nothing more.

It's like a child will bang on about getting something because he/she knows that the parents will eventually give in and get the kid what it wants to shut it up.

I've learned that with my son, not to give in to his constant demanding, and it works.. he'll soon realise he's wasteing his time and move onto something else.

So chances are if you do enough favours for people it eventually stops becoming favours and becomes behavour and they come to just expect it all the time.

Here's one for you....

I have to send emails for the same mother of my child that I'm doing the website for because 'I can't do it' - !!!

And as for sending an attachment with an email, well, you may as well be planning a mission to Mars.

The most infuriating thing about it is she just can't be bothered to learn how to do these things. I mean it just sending an email for christs sake!!! And she then gets at me when I go on at her about learning these things saying that I'm over reacting.

AAGGGHHHHH!

Rant over, feeling better now.

On the other side... I've been guilty of asking friends to do stuff for me... but I'll always state that as it's a favour I'm asking I'm in no hurry for the favour and their own paying work should take priority.

Asking a favour is fine, taking the piss out of it is when it get a bit much.

Indeed 'friends' seem to think you'll do it as a favour or are exempt from immediate payment, full rate etc...

As Wake has said, the friend who is asking you to half the rate, just tell him he's already got it at discount and don't do anything for him again.

Let him pay the full wack with another firm, he'll soon realise just how big a favour you were doing him.

I've been working on a website for the mother of my child, it's been never ending demanding about ... do this tonight, do that tonight, change this, change that, add this, get it to be the top hit on google IMMEDIATELY.

When I say it doesn't happen like that all I get is Why not??

When this is finished with I'll never volunteer to help her out again 'caus it's been a headache from the very beginning.

She can bend someone elses ear and pay for the privilege.

Time lord mind switch?

Certainly sounds like something RTD would come up with, but has this happened before.

Has a time lord switched minds with anyone/thing in a previous story or is RTD just making it up as he goes along as usual?

It's all a bit Vulcan mind meld isn't it, but hell, he's taken so much from alot of other things when why not.

What utter pish.

I just knew RTD would shit things up.

Martha gone, shame as she was a good bit of totty and it really takes about 2 series to get the hang of a character.

Can a time lord just decide not to regenerate??

I thought it was part of their biology so deciding not to genenerate is a bit like me deciding not to grow eyebrows.

Titanic. Isn't the Tardis virtually indestructable??? How could a bit of metal (granted, a very large bit of metal) break the tardis.

Must do better, maybe with RTD's departure things will pick up. I just hope he's not involved in the Christmas episode.

Just open the panel on the underside of the laptop.

Pop up the memory, take it out, put it back in again.

Mac is a Powerbook G4 running OSX (I think), and was purchased new a few years ago.

I'm fairly sure it's the RAM if the three beeps thing is anything to go by.

We have a Mac guy we use for the macs in work who lives not far from me.

He's helped me with this machine in the past so I'll give him a shout to get him to look at it again.

Not aware of any OS updates as it's not my computer, although she hasn't a clue what she's doing with the thing so only christ knows what she may or may not have downloaded and even if she did she would deny doing anything at all and it is all my fault anyway etc... etc... etc...
