I got the impression his 'one Dredd is enough' remark was a put down. Not on the character or the comic but it was more trouble than it was worth doing it.

By that I mean restraints on his interpretation of Dredd and the usual editorial hassle.

Can anyone scan the story (or a page) and put it up here, I can't remember his Dredd.

Those feckin americans are right shits.

When I heard about the phosphorous crap I dispared.

The yanks bang on so much about chemical weapons when the 'enemy' use them, but hang on, they're actually quite a good weapon, so lets give it a go.

A case of do as I say, not do as I do.

The sooner Bush is out of the picture, the better.

I gave up when Pratchett was writin' them faster that I could read them, so anything beyong Guards, Guards or so is beyond my relm.

Though they are far better than the Potter hysteria going on at the moment. Pratchett must be fuming about J.Ks success. "but Ive been doing that for YEARS' I can just hear him cry.

I read The Colour of Magic in one sitting, never done that with a book before that (and never since). I couldn't finish the first page of the first Potter book before getting bored.

Still, looing forward to my annual Christmas reading of Hitch Hickers to fill the time off work.

Off Topic / Re: 24 Hour Drinking

We have always had 24 hour drinking.

If I (or anyone else) wanted to drink beyond the licencing hours they just went to the off licence and bought a load of booze for after the pub.

It's always been there, just more costly in a pub at 3am.

If I remember correctly from my star gazing days if you get a reflector telescope it needs to have a mirror size of at least 4 inches to get a quality image.

A refractor telescope I think needs to have a lens size of about 60mm or so.

The bigger the better.

Very often a good pair of binoculars will suit better than forking out for a telescope, and again the bigger the lens the better (it lets in more light so you then get a better, clearer image, or something like that).

Personally I don't have a real problem with this, It's an interperation of Dredd (and I confess I quite like it, look nice on a tee shirt).

I go with what jeb said, and Warhol (who I do not rate at all) made a career from it.

I was in an art gallery in the Village in New York a good few years ago and they had a Warhol print  of Superman (incorporating some diamond dust, don't ya know!!)

So the gallery owner started some chat with me about the print and I just happened to mention that I was trying to figure the original artist (from which the print was made) he looked at me like a dog that had been shown a card trick and said the original artist was Warhol.

I tried to explaine that the original image came from a comic book but still got the same look.

People have been copying other peoples art for ever, it's all down to personal taste in the final result.

Film & TV / Re: Space Cadets

We are being duped.

At least one other cadet is an actor (not talking about the two we already know off).

That lanky guy with the hair, he's currently doing the rounds in a blood transfusion ad.

I guess using 'real' poeple would be too unpridictable, so getting actors to act as 'real' people gives a simulation of what would happen if you got a bunch of stupid people together and told them they were training to go into space.

It really is all fake.

I think they should fake a wing falling off during 're entry', just to see the look on their faces.

I confess I'm quite enjoying this, although it does smack of 'poke fun at the thickos'. Although they did choose a group of people who had little knowledge of the subject matter, just to add to the fun.

Having actors included in the mix is also entertaining, expect a 'mole' in big brother next year to spice things up a bit.
