Gettin this!

Didn't buy the Meg when it was in that, wanted to wait until it was in it's own book.

Looking forward to it and to more new TG material from Team Tank..

Ruf seems so busy these days I don't think he'd have much time to come on here anyways!

Keep up the good work Ruf (and Alan), lots of us love it!

Books & Comics / Re: Goosebump moments in comics.

Not really sure if I have an actual 'goosebumps' moment in a comic but there is a story by Phillip Bond in one of the A1 books called Endless Summer.

It's a crackin wee story from one of my fave comic artists and when I read it, it makes me feel kinda sad... but in a good way.

I was once available on Bonds website to read but I've just checked and the website has been redone since then and it's no longer available.

Track it down if you can.. A1 Book 3.

I explored the somewhat limited selection of comic material in the library today so i will start working my way through them.

There is a hardback collected edition of Shakara and Charlies War for starters .

I am also 2 thirds of the way through From Hell.

Not to mention Church Archeology [English Heritage] and Understanding Small Period Houses by Amanda Laws but no one will want to know about that here.

My local library has just had a massive revamp (it's now about 4 times the original size) and I had a scoot through it recently for GN's but couldn't find any.

So here is my question... what section would I find the Graphic Novels under. If I asked the librarian 'where are the graphic novels' would I get funny looks or directions to collected volumes of my fave comics??

No Cineworld here but I did catch it on the big screen at an inde film theater here about a year ago.. it was a really old print too which just added to the atmosphere.

Just brilliant. Best remake ever. And I like the original too.

Love the music too, the thumping heartbeat soundtrack is just perfect.

Still the best.

The original is brilliant but this 'distressed' look just doesn't do it for me.

If they had have just printed it on a white shirt without the distressed lokk I'd snap it up!

As it is now, I'll just pass on it.

I'll get a grey/red lawmaster on though and the black Dillon Dredd, much more what I had in mind for a decent shirt.

Since I came back to 2000ad at issue 901, the only time I was tempted to stop buying it was around the end of 2003 when Caballistics and Durham Red were carrying a very weak (IMO) line up (Meatmonger, Synnamon and Dead Men Walking).

Even when the Meg was carrying reprints, at least it was usually stuff I hadn't read like Preacher, Sin City and Hellboy.

The reprints were probably the main reason for me stopping the Meg...

I already had Sin City and Hellboy and all the other 2000ad related reprints they did and I didn't particularly like Preacher in it's original DC (sorry VERTIGO cause its got tits and swearing in it so it must be adult) run and seen no reason to try again in the Meg reprint.

Have any of you ever come close to giving up 2000AD or the Meg?
Maybe for one of the following reasons:

1. Strapped for cash, and can no longer justify the expense
2. Grown out of it
3. Stories/art not what they used to be

Personally the answer is that at darker moments I've been tempted to give up one or the other, possibly for reason 1 or 3, certainly not 2 (I'm 42 and now my kids would never let me stop). Even when it's not at it's best there's always some redeeming factor and the good times always outweigh the bad. And 30 years is quite a habit to break.

But I'm just curious: Did you ever go away, and why, and what made you come back?

I did... reasons 1 & 3 and didn't have space to store them all!

Never really felt the need to start again but do get the odd issue if there is a good artist on Dredd (like THE MIGHTY JOCK).

Also... Toy Story 1 & 2 are getting re-released in 3D before Toy Story 3 hits the cinema.

Superb!

Off Topic / Re: Derren Brown lotto prediction.

Have it recorded and will watch it tonight.

Always liked his stuff but not keen on his more recent TV stuff, the horse betting one being a prime example, it wasn't really a trick, more a 'film lots of people and edit it to make it look like Derren Brown predicted the wining horse in all these races'.

I suspect the lottery thing will be something like that, friday night will reveal all!

After watching him as Racer X in the very enjoyable Speed Racer, I thought he'd make a good Daredevil.
