Having lost all faith in any further Batman films after the completely over hyped, over long, over dull, taking itself far too seriously Dark Knight I'm not really fussed what happens next.

BUT.

The riddler done as a sort of se7en John Doe character might fit into Nolans 'grim relaity' vision of Batman.

Can't we just have an animated Dark Knight Returns?

I'm one of those people who refuses to allow my children to watch Disney movies- I don't need to explain why, you all know why they are meaningless, stupid, horrible, culurally homogenising arse-wank of the lowest order.

I quite like those disney/pixar movies.

Your kids are missing a lot of good, fun, smart entertainment there if your not letting them watch those. I can't wait for toy story 3d!

But that's just my opinion.

But I do understand your dislike of a film maker.. I myself can't abide anything by James Cameron and will avoid it like he plague. Add to that Leonard decrappyhole and there you have... well, titanic!

A general reply to people in general:

Just use the top links if you don't want to use the flash ones.

The flash banner up top was an idea of 2000 AD's that I put into use, there's no real biggy with changing it up a bit, particularly when we get the accounts side of things sorted then you can choose what to appear. And no it didn't take long, so I'm sure we

QuoteWith all due respect that banner thing is shit.

Yawn. With all due respect I only have time for people being constructive.

Ahhh... sorry about that... was havin a bad day and didn't mean to be so obtuse.

Please ignore what I said.

I demand the following cast or I just might kill myself and it will be all your fault:

Dredd: Statham (duh)
Giant: Kimbo Slice
Anderson: Shannon Tweed
Judge Death: David Walliams
Pat Mills: George Clooney
Dolman: Ralf Little
Orlok: Will Mellor

wat utter rubbish dredd must be an unknown as we can't have him take his mask off or know wat his face looks like! Or were you jokin in the first place?

Mask?

With all due respect that banner thing is shit.

What exactly is the point of it? And did the end result justify the time and effort spend actually achieving it?

I mean.. 'ohh look the characters heads giggle about abit in an unconvincing manner!'

pifft!

Will check out the rest of the site in due course, but looking at that home page (which is mostly just a big white space) I'm in no hurry.

Garth's Preacher series was a milestone in comic book writing. His run on The Punisher was equally fantastic and his stab at Dan Dare was none too poor. I don't get the hate.

I never understood the popularity of Preacher.. I did try to read it several times but just never 'got' it.

I find that with a lot of Garths stuff, everyone else seems to rave about it, I'll give it a read and think 'what was all the fuss about??' The Boys being a prime example of this.

Too many nob gags maybe.

Apparently Avatar is a near total rip-off of the film Delgo, released last year. It was a huge flop, I'd never heard of it. Here is visual evidence:

Life was so much easier without CGI.  What happened to real actors on real sets?  ;)

Well you couldn't accuse Cameron of being original now could you?

The Abyss was original because i dont recall anyone else before or since making a film underwater.

What? You've NEVER known a film before that uses underwater scenes?

Jaws?

Almost every James Bond movie ever made?

Also there are 9 pages of water movies here:-

What I was actually referring to was the court case he lost against his original Terminator film when it was argued against that it bore more than a passing resemblance to the Outer Limits tales Demon with a glass hand and Soldier, both stories by Harlan Ellison.

Aaah - the old definition of a "serious" gamer. That deserves a thread of it's own.

I recall when Wii first came out there was a bloke on the radio saying; "It's brilliant for having loads of your mates round and having a laugh and playing til three in the morning but it's not really for gaming."

And I had to wonder "What is that blokes definition of GAMING then?"

I don't think I was "oversold" on the motion control either when it was first launched; I can't ever feeling disappointed in the level of control that was offered straight out of the box.

Other things to remember are that the Wii actually came with a rocking good game in the box for it's paltry $179 price tag. Not many consoles do that.

And I effectively got Wii Play for a fiver when I bought my second controller; again, a bit of a bargain (love the shooting game and tanks and charge).

By 'serious gamer' I mean people who spend hours on Halo, or GTA or whatever compleating missions and campaigns and such.

I'd love to have the time to devote to those games but I don't, so dipping into wii sports for a game of golf or maybe a two player game with my son on a Mario game for half an hour suits me just fine.

It's definitely impressive looking, no doubt. I'm pretty sure that shot of Sam Worthington rolling out of the ship in his wheelchair is completely CGI, and if so, it's probably the best 3D-human I've seen so far.

It's just the look of the aliens themselves I'm trying to get used to. I wasn't expecting the tall, thin gangly look. But on repeat viewings in the HD version, it's growing on me.

Still not impressed.. is there 15 mins gettin released of this tomorrow or something.. that might give a better picture of what the film will be like.

It's not being released online, as far as I know. It's only if you got tickets online to the showings.

If that scene is compleatly CGI (even the actor in the wheelchair) then it is very impressive. But would it not have been easier to film a guy in a wheelchair roll down a ramp?

Technically it looks impressive, but I'm just not excited about it.

District 9 (for example) is technically a bit ropey but it is a great film. Good looks will only get you so far before you start looking for something beyond cool cgi effects.

Nice to see they still have wheelchairs in the future, better to develop mechanical walking legs for big guns (that look like they were rejected designs from The Matrix) than mechanical walking legs for actual people who might just benefit from them.

QuoteThats kinda like buying a console and complaining that you actually then have to go and buy a game to enjoy it properly (OK it's not really the same).

It's not at all the same. I don't mind paying out for an extra controller or two, my main issue is that each remote costs more than a game.

My other issue is that the capabilities of the Wii's motion controls were totally oversold when it launched, and I think it's a bit cheeky of them to charge even more money for something which was kind of promised out of the box.

It's not at all the same
Well, I did say that when I said (OK it's not really the same)

As for being oversold on the motion control, I can't agree with that. When I got it I experienced just about what I expected.
Should the wii motion+ have been included in the original release, probably but not if it meant delaying release for a few years while they perfected it. I could use the same argument about Sony releasing the slimline PS3... Why not just release that first?
The reason why is because technology advances and manufacturers can upgrade equipment, make it better, make it smaller etc...

each remote costs more than a game
Well, I understand that Sony and Microsoft are developing their own motion controller for their machines. Will be interesting to see what the price of those are when they are available.

All I know is my son loves it and I really enjoy it too... granted I wouldn't call it a 'serious gamers machine' but then I'm not a serious gamer.
