Announcements / Re: Rebellion 2023 offerings.
15 September, 2022, 08:55:14 AM
I don't think that Rebellion want to catch up.  Keeping roughly x years away from the present day means they can release new stories as standalone trades for those that don't want to wait, then again in Case Files for everyone else.  If the Case Files were fairly contemporaneous, then no one would buy trades (other than a very small group enticed by special edition hardcover releases).

Rebellion are a business and the more times they can sell content they've already paid for then the more that they can keep going.  We are seeing over and over various titles that have been released in black and white softcovers coming out in partial or full colour, and/or hardback etc.  I have no problems with that.  I'm also extremely grateful to Rebellion for acquiring the rights to so much of British comic history and for making The Leopard from Lime Street, Sweeny Toddler, Badtime Bedtime Stories etc, available.  I don't see these being reprinted over and over so essentially being able to repackage Halo Jones or whatever is what helps ensure we can see these other magnificent titles too.

But yes to Daily Dredds vol. 3 and Psi Files vol. 6!

Here's Elon Musk at university, wearing a Judge Dredd t-shirt.

Tatler article.

Photo up for auction - perhaps Rebellion should try to snag it.

"Musk's appreciation for the Judge Dredd character and franchise was humorously revived last November when Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin space company lost its lawsuit against NASA, in which it claimed the space agency's decision to award a $2.9 billion contract to SpaceX was 'unfair' and demonstrated favoritism towards SpaceX. Musk responded on Twitter with a meme of actor Karl Urban as Dredd saying: 'You have been judged!'"

How about matching off thrills that have the same number of letters in the title?
E.g. Ace Garp vs Dan Dare

Not bad, Funt.

Niko-lai, Niko-lai, Niko-lai more!
Niko-lai, Niko-lai, Niko-lai MORE!
And Niko-lai's company!

Go alphabetical, and see which is the most popular "A" thrill, "B' thrill, etc.

Will Ace Garp overcome Armourgeddon, or will Ant Wars take it?  Will Zombo beat Zenith?  Firekind vs Fiends, Dand Dare vs Droid Life, Space Girls vs Strontium Dawg.

This thread also made me realise that Nemesis has something in common with Winnie the Pooh.

They both have the same middle name.

Oh, if we're doing this poetically:

Here Squaxx votes are cast
Is Nemesis the greatest thrill?
No: Dante, the victor

Very good, BB, though my careful study of the text reveals his name is actually Nikolai, not Victor.

Like in the best sea shanty
I'm wearing my jumper for Dante.

Well done, SBT. Correctly formatted and it rhymes.  10/10.

Nickie Dante

For reasons.

Hmm, do you see where you've gone wrong, AAA?  It's short and pithy, and you've got the poetical formatting, but it doesn't rhyme.  It's a bit of a rookie mistake but well done for trying.  6/10.

Dante is good, but Nemesis is Nemesis.

Oh dear.

You could have rescued this one Sheridan, if you'd spent more of the allocated time on the question.  Something like "Dante is good at least in its genesis/but everyone knows Nemesis is Nemesis.  Still, your writing is very neat. 5/10.

The rest of you, I want you to all take out your dictionaries and colour in the 'O's.

Wild card entry in the final rounds... it's Judge Dredd! ;-)

Yes, theoretically Alex's scorecard + Dredd = the perfect prog.

Dredd, Dante, Nemesis, Stront and Lawless.

And to be revealed next week a little something more is coming too...

Phew, I'm glad you spotted it as well.  Anyway, I've fixed it now...
