Yay! Thanks guys! That'll be at least four entrants then. I'm excluding my own brilliant entry from the competition because I've already got the books (they're great - just as anyone in my family).

Just my luck that the October / November competition was announced immediately after I announced this one (I'm telling myself that it was bad luck, and not that no-one wants to enter this one...)

Did I mention that the first prize is worth about £26.40 (38.27)? I'll even sign the books (cue tired old joke: "the unsigned ones are worth more").

Okay, so it's a bit crap... But that's only because I can't draw. If I could draw it would probably be less crap... Probably.

"A sketch I did at lunchtime" says Johnnystress, humbly presenting an image that would take me weeks to do... Nice work indeed!

That's odd... The link worked fine when I posted it and it seems to be all right now. Must have been a temporary glitch. Cosmic ray interference or black magic something.

Oh, now this is a bit cheeky! In light of the excellent quality of the most recent art competitions, I thought it might be a nice idea to run an art competition myself. So the topic is: My New Heroes books. Said it was cheeky, didn't I?

Don't worry if you haven't read them yet - there's lots of graphics on the website (see the link below), plus some short stories and sample chapters. Artwork should ideally feature one or more of the characters from the books or stories. You don't have to stick too closely to my costume designs, just as long as the characters are recognisable.

The judging will be done in the usual manner: by everyone voting for their friends. I mean, for the pics they like best.

But there are rules... Well, one rule:

1. First and foremost, keep it clean! No naughty bits or swear words or anything X-rated. I'll be directing my young readers towards this site and I don't want to be swamped with complaints from their parents or teachers.

Prizes:
1. All three HarperCollins edition books, plus the US hardback edition of the first book.
2. US hardback edition of the first book.
3. HarperCollins edition of the latest book, Absolute Power.

Last day of entries is September 30th. The deadline may be extended if the bribes are sufficiently enormous.

Have fun!

Exhausted from climbing the stairs, Dredd took a few minutes' break and wistfully recalled the good old days of thirty years ago, when his uniform's shoulder-pad and eagle were small enough and light enough to be almost no hindrance whatsoever.

Congratulations Lisa and Matthew! Hope you have a fantastic day and every day after is better than the one before!

(Getting married was the best thing I ever did - Leonia and I are two days away from our thirteenth anniversary, and still going strong.)

I'm an Irish subscriber - have been for, oooh, years and years. I've never had any problems with progs going missing, and they almost always arrived on the Monday before they reach the shops. Tomorrow I expect prog 1553 to arrive. It's probably a little more expensive to subscribe than to use the local newsagent, but it's a lot more reliable!

I want my body to be fired into the sun. I've mentioned this a few times to my wife and she's agreed to it!

Of course, I'll be dead so I won't know about it. I suspect that I'll be fed to the cats instead.

Failing that, I want my body to be burned at a huge funeral pyre. It'll be a great event and you're all invited. Imagine the fun you'll have watching my miserable corpse go up in flames... Along with my entire comic collection.

Pah! That book's a classic example of Grand Theft Thunder. (Damn good cover, though.)
