All it needs now is that Michael Carroll & Dave Gibbons ending.

Man, I'm SO tempted to strongly hint that such a thing might be happening... But it's not.

(But if The Mighty One wants to give me a call, I'm up for it!)

Help! / Re: judge badge avatar

After a very long wait... There's a NEW Badger! This is an alternate version of the Brit-Cit Badge, inspired by a message I received on FaceBook from a bloke wanting a Brit-Cit Judge badge that's more like the ones that appeared in Armitage.

Badger version 10 - the alternate Brit-Cit Judge badge!

These are currently only available in two or three 'test areas', as a way of testing the waters.

I cannot reveal exactly where those areas are but if you're in the future burial place of Richard III or reside at the confluence of the River Test and River Itchen, you might want to keep an eye out. Or plan a day trip if not.

Also worth noting that the series will include works not yet reprinted by us...

Molch-R will these 2 areas expand to more over the next week or so, or will it only be sold in these 2 locations and on-line via subscription??

And will subscriptions be available to those of us outside the UK?

Hmm... Could be worth a look, but the list of different countries from which one can subscribe is rather short...

Here's the list in its entirety:

UK

Not much use for those of us who don't live there! (And how will that affect subscribers from Scotland if they get independence, eh?)

Still, I'll probably pick up the first issue from the local newsagent and see whether it's worth continuing.

P.S.: That badge does look VERY like the Termight Replicas badge, and I should know! If they've used the same design, I'll be demanding a freebie at the very least!

There'll be two 2000AD panels at this year's Eurocon!

Friday, August 22, 17:00. Room: Lansdowne
Rough Guide to 2000AD
Panel: Michael Carroll, Janet O'Sullivan, James Brophy
Don't know your Chopper from your Strontium Dogs? And what the drek is a Prog? Judge Dredd writer Michael Carroll and a panel of experts will guide you through the world, from the Megacities to Sláine to Future Shocks to Sinister Dexter and maybe even share a few secrets along the way.

Sunday, August 24, 12:00. Room: Munster
Women of 2000AD
Panel: Michael Carroll, Maura McHugh, Janet O'Sullivan
Small in number, but mighty in influence - Women characters and creators of 2000AD.

Plus there's a chance that the prog might get the odd mention during my Guest of Honour interview on Saturday at noon in the Pembroke room...

You can find my full schedule here!

Events / The European Science Fiction Convention 2014
18 August, 2014, 01:44:50 PM
I'll be appearing at this year's European Science Fiction Convention this coming weekend (22-24 August 2014) in Dublin!

Other guests of honour include Jim Fitzpatrick, Seanan McGuire, Andrzej Sapkowski and Ylva Spångberg. Plus, of course, there'll be lots and lots of other guests (Eurocons tend to only name the Guests of Honour, for historical reasons that escape me).

Do come along - it'll be a blast!

Leonia and I had a blast at the con this year, largely in thanks to the 2000AD crew on the booth! We helped out a little (without getting in the way too much, I hope), especially when Molch-R was savaged by thrill-suckers which I assure you was not in any way hilarious.

The 2000AD panel was a blast too... Here's a post-panel photo of the droids with some rather fine Judges:

I didn't catch the Judges' names, unfortunately, but the droids are, from left to right, Mike Molcher, Chris Burnham, Jock, me & Henry Flint.

All righty, folks...

A reminder for anyone attending this year's San Diego Comic-Con: the 2000AD Zarjaz Hour is taking place on Thursday at 14:00, in room 29A. Moderated by Mike Molcher, the panelists include Jock, Chris Burnham, Henry Flint and yours truly!

And don't forget to check out the 2000AD booth for lots of signings, and to pick up your Comic-Con exclusives!

Books & Comics / Re: No more Comic Heroes
15 July, 2014, 03:02:56 PM
Such a shame... It's a great mag and I've loved every issue.

I know this would be scant consolation, but I just hope that the final issue bears the words "Great News for All Readers Inside!" in the grand tradition of about-to-be-cancelled British comics. Naturally, the next issue of SFX should be called "SFX & Comic Heroes!" with the "Comic Heroes" logo gradually shrinking to nothing over the next few months.

Oooh, they should use my design!

You're fired, CAR-L. Report to Mek-Quake.

It's worth being fired to finally get a "droid name"!
