 Jeez, I now know what to say if ever invited to a Gabber night, and it ain't 'ooh, yes please'!

I was actually taught to read using that bizarre phonetic alphabet - it was called ITC or ICA or some such acronym - anyone remember it? Seemed to work for me, but I think it has been totally discredited and abandoned now. Once we'd got the hang of printed letters, in class 3 (age 7) the formidable Mrs Duckworth taught us joined-up writing to a strict and precise formula. A lower case k did indeed have a closed loop and a lower case s was rather odd too, but it was made clear that these variations were only used in handwriting. Your nephew's teacher sounds like an idiot. All my younger relatives talk about "curly cuh and kicking kuh" to differentiate C and K, which seems to be common today.

Now, can we PLEASE get back to girls flashing their jigglies? :D

Quote from: "faplad"the Lawgiver scene does raise an interesting point. Could cause problems in a seige type situation. "I'm out!", "Dillons dead, use his", " I would, but I don't wanna blow my Drokkin' hand off!" Does anyone remember if this has ever been adressed before?
I've wondered about this myself in the past. I think both options have been hinted at (ie they are palm printed to any judge or a specific judge). I'm sure there was a story where a new Rookie had his individual palmprint scanned into his lawgiver as he collected it, and it was implied this was unique to him, but I'm equally certain I've seen Dredd use other judges' guns too.

I think Thyllseeker makes more sense than a lot of articulate contributors to this site. These sneering posts are starting to seem a bit nasty.
He's sound
He loves Slaine
 His English isn't always 100%
So what?

Keep on truckin' TS!

Quote from: "ThryllSeekyr"I 'm just looking for a picture of one Glenn Fabry's Formorians using google when I notice the link for this thread.

Over a year and a few months ago.

Just re-reading it and noticeing how verbose I use to be.

Hi Thryllseeker - this  thtread happened before I joined this crazy forum, but I am well familiar with your Slaine fixation!! :D

it was only a prototype - by your freakilly accurate answers however , I'm guessing the concept needs to be used with more obscure pics. I guessed your mistake when I saw the first spoiler - no sweat mate!

Quote from: "House of Usher"Without it there'd be no goth scene at all, let alone partial nudity.
"the youth" will always find a reason and a method to freak out their elders, dress in BAD clothes and get their bits out.

The problem is keeping connected with "the youth" without trolling around clubs looking like a perv!

I don't hold with this current wrong-headed notion that American spellings are acceptable alternatives - if you live in Britain, then use correct British spelling, if you live in America spell it wrong but be proud to do so, cos its YOURS!

Of course, the generally accepted spelling of the colloquialism you use above is "'cause".

Nonsense! I must admit I missed the apostrophe, and usually write it as 'cos, but the abbreviation or abridgement (not colloquialism) is rarely written as 'cause' If one is writing that much, one may as well write the whole word. In speech, however, we say '"cuz" as  easily as breathing. I consider 'cos to be the accepted writen version.  :? . Grammar arguments - You wanna make something it?

I'm not sure if her sister's a lesbian, or if the young  lesbians were just her mates, but you're right it's crowded. If I'd known she'd fancied me back then, thing's would be different, but I haven't given up hope. Most of the time in between, she was abroad with a German waste of space (no bias there) and now there's this new dude. Haven't met him yet. I'm sure he's sound, but must hate him.

Can you tell I've had those aforementioned Stellas? Best stop posting about her now before I say something I may regret!  :o
Anyone read any good comics lately?

Quote from: "Kerrin"when you're a youngster and up for loud banging music and half naked girls dancing like dervishes you couldn't find a better place for miles around.
Unfortunately there weren't many half naked girls on the indie/goth/heavy rock scene I was into when I was a youngster. Fortunately, there are a lot on the goth/heavy rock scene I'm into now!

I remember I used to wonder about the balck T-shirted and paunched older geezers who never seemed to leave the bar area of various gigs I went to - Why bother coming if you don't want to get down there and ROCK? - nowadays I appreciate this as the best place to watch gigs from. I have become them.

I'm sad to report that unlike House of Usher, there are significantly less half naked girls in my gigging/clubbing life than in years past, as my years past involved Manchester rave clubs in the 90s, when two tank-girlesque X 's of black tape seemed to suffice as a 'top' *sigh*

Just think of him as a kind of demi-Tharg!

I'm curious - what was the original idea? - another "reboot" of Dredd, like DC did? or are we just talking reprints?

I would pay good money for Dredd vs Boys - agreed, he'd initially be against the supes, but afterwards you just know he'd end up cubing wee Hughie and the rest too!

Couple of cracking stories there! I think the length limit is just right for a comp like this - short and punchy. I'll start working on mine soon, never fear!

I must admit, soon as I heard 'Death Belt' I guessed what Shark's was about, but still think it's a great little tale. The mention of it by the sov at the end as part of the attack is genius, but you could ditch the first reference to ramp up the shock value. Very good.

Zarjazzer's story wrongfooted me - thought it was a missionary man tale, but maybe I should have read the title! Great atmosphere, very spaghetti western-like.

So far, I couldn't get a Rizla between these two, hope we get loads of entries to this comp, looking good so far.
