Looks pretty cool.
About as plausible as Space 1999, but that was cool also.
Flying saucers and nazis, what more could you want? Throw in some sharks and you've got a freeview channel.
Liked the song too - anyone know who that is?

I've only been visiting this board for about a month as I've only recently got home broadband hooked up. I've been exploring this 'ere t'internet like crazy (awful big innit?!) I've dropped in on many boards related to stuff I like, and my Grud, there's some nasty crazy folk out there!

I keep coming back here because of the very things that are alleged to be missing - the courtesy, respect, reasoned argument etc. I've just reread the Zarjaz thread that kicked this off and it struck me as lots of witty interesting and diverse comments plus one idiot who's since gone away. My own comment about Dead Eyes earlier on in the thread was pretty scathing, and I really hope that didn't cause offense. I'll take the point on board and refelct more before posting in future, but we must retain the right to criticise (or 'offer formative feedback' as my manager insists)

Overall, things seem very positive and friendly on this board. I appreciate that I haven't read all the old threads though, so this may just be a last straw kinda thingy...I've already been warned never to mention a certain name beginning with S and I still don't know why!

Therefore IMHO, if it ain't broke etc..

Loved the film - he's right it DOES still sound like the future - how is that?

I especially liked the little blast of Grandmaster Flash at the end!

Sorry Ms Lwin, mispelled your name! (just in case she's following this post, which I admit is unlikely)

probably why it isn't the actual title - just the blurb. Can't sue for that!
The actual title is equally class though - "yer ass from yer elbow" - I think that's what struck me as Ennis-esque when i saw it.
BTW did i really say "awesome"?
sorry.
very sorry

"The war of the Moses" - Now that's one of those great titles that begs to have a story written for it!
Been reading some old hellblazer recently (and musing on Preacher) and it strikes me that Sinister/Dexter could be awesome in the hands of Ennis/Dillon.

Wasn't BOHJ supposed to be a 12 part story originally? I remember being disappointed when it never came back afer book 3, but now I live in terror that it will (AKA "Star Wars Syndrome")

Prog / Re: Prog 1587: Zarjaz!
17 May, 2008, 02:05:21 PM
Cover - Truly Zarjaz after a run of pretty unmemorable efforts.

Dredd - Intriguing. Nice to see the talented Mr Wiliams given a longer shot on the big man after "the biographer" a year ago:
(Do you have any idea how difficult it is to write about dredd?
Do you know how many brilliant writers have tried in the past and failed?
they ALL think they can master it...
)
Anyone know how many parts this one is set to run for?

Ten seconders - just as i've got my head around what's going on it's finishing. One to read again at the end I think, but me like a lot.

Dead Eyes. Oh dear. A better than average episode but its all been cliched twaddle with thin characters IMHO.

Dead Signal - Pretty good bit of fluff but feels a little s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d over 7 progs. Some of Tharg's Mark 1 droids could have distilled this into one good future shock with no loss of thrill power.

Overall - a good prog.n Like always, the GGC's greatest strength is that there's always something to like. It still boggles mmy brain that such a consistently good and varied anthology format has survived as a WEEKLY(monthly would be impressive) for 31 years!

I guess you're right there scutfink - I'm not a creator of any description, so I've never really thought about it - Do the writers really script the exact style, size and spelling of every KABLAM and THOOM?

I always somehow inagined that it was the letterers who used to cut loose with the extra large letraset and exclamation marks.
