(In my head I have a cover image of Cap's shield with three Wolverine claw scars on it - but this is such an obvious idea that it must already exist.)

I think it's been done a few times:

That's the Mean Arena - future sport strip set in Britain - the original was a good enough strip, but nothing special ... we don't talk about the later reboot *shudder*

Frankly, that cover is probably the best thing about the strip!

The Man in the High Castle. Just started Season Two. I dunno, it's an odd one, this. Some lovely performances and a hauntingly good opening credits sequence but I don't know why I'm sticking with it. Like a lit firework that's just sitting there I don't know whether it's going to erupt or not - it seems to be always on the verge of amazing but never seems to actually do much.

Know what you mean - I enjoyed the first season, but never finished the second. I gave up when I realised that I'd skipped 5 episodes ahead (my flatmate was watching too and I'd just clicked "continue watching") and it took me about 20 minutes to notice ("huh? When did Hitler die") it seemd like very little had happeened and I just couldn't be arsed watching those 5 hours to get me back to that point. I intended to watch the finale but my Amazon sub ran out before I got around to it.

Rara Avis - I guess you're familiar with the ..ahem .. source material for that cover?

Really enjoyed last night's episode - although I completely mis-guessed the outcome - twice:
the killer often turns out to be one of the early 'victims' who isn't really dead, so I was convinced it was the waitress as she was the only one we didn't see die and nobody touched the body. Once we did see who it was, I thought she would turn out to be the artist in drag who'd faked his own death. So ... 0 for 2 there  ::)
I can only echo the general consensus on Logan - overall very good but becomes a bit of a predictable, over-gory stab-fest towards the end - in fact, as soon as all the characters were in place, I pretty much predicted how the rest of the movie would pan out.

I thought the girl was very good, and Patrick Stewart was outstanding - that idea of his "seizures" was remarkable, both in concept and execution.

I was impressed by how little more the Barbados was. Okay £6.00 is significant,

So for an extra £6 you get to read it in Barbados? Bargain!  :D

I'm not sure about this - I may need to have browse before deciding if to buy it - I remember quite enjoying it back in the day but it was never one of my top thrills. Even pre-Hogwarts it seemed a bit of a cliche (I seem to remember at the time thinking it was a rip-off of the Dark is Rising  books) Looked lovely though.

And I loooove Deadworld - the only thing that grates slightly is the sarcastic bike computer (I mean ... why?)

That's one of the best bits about it IMHO!

Same here.

Malfunctioning A.I is the concept I guess.

I like it, it adds a little levity to the otherwise grim proceedings.  :)

I think that's my trouble - it isn't a strip that suits levity! Also, I'm unsure why a biological/magical/mass murder apocalypse would cause a bike to develop a bizarre wisecracking personality

The future shock was good, especially the art. Looks like the Thoughtbubble competition can provide a good source of new talent for the comic (see for instance what Tom Foster had to say about it at his 40th panel.)

Aha, I thought it seemed familiar but I was sure I hadn't seen the imagery before - glad I'm not going mad!

Cracking one shot for Dredd - echoes of "lock her up" coming back to bite a certain president!
Chuffed at the return of Scarlet Traces.
Brink isn't my fave strip, but it's enjoyable enough so no complaints there

I haven't been a fan of Warren Ellis work since then though. I think he can be guilty of decompressing his stories (probably not the right expression). He can take four issues to tell something that another writer might do in one.

Ellis is one of those names on a book that will prompt me to buy it even if I've never heard of it. I take your point about spinning things out though - I bought Vol:1 of Trees and it was 100% set-up with almost no plot. I guess after about 4 or 5 books, things may have progressed, but I won't be pursuing this one. I loved Ministry of Space, and Planetary/Authority. Didn't get on so well with Tansmetropolitan though.

I wore my Dredd one and immediately lost it, so I can re-complete the set!

(BTW there appear to be seven badges in that set of six!  ;))
