I didn't realise that the casefiles had finally caught up to the "black'n'red" series of GNs. If you're colecting those, ithen The Pit sits well within the omgoimg continuity as it's quite pivotal, but I often recommend it as a great self contained 'Dredd-as-cop' book

Obviously,yes.
Can we now focus on some Dan Dare stories that were a little more cheerful?Garth Ennis' series was freaking amazing.
amazing yes, but I wouldn't go for "cheerful" -
Everybody dies! Digby dies! The seargant's entire squad dies!
photobucket is becoming increasingly annoying - there are so many video-ads and whizzy graphics etc that it takes each page an age to load.

For my 13th birthday I got to take a few schoolmates to the cinema (which was about as exciting as birthdays got back then) and we saw a double bill of Hawk the Slayer and Saturn 3 (which was quite embarrassing because my mum was with us and it included Farrah Fawcett's boobies. :-[)

I'm pretty sure I saw Futureworld (1976) as part of a double bill too - possibly with the original Westworld

is that photo flipped or does it really say DREDD backwards across the face?

I'b be tempted to create the visor by cutting horizontally and removing the lower face part - good luck with all that - I'm terribly kak-handed and I would doubtless ruin it instantly, but I love seeing other more capable people doing stuff ,like this!

I read a review afterwards, and I'm ashamed to say
I missed all the pairings in the house. Then again, I wasn't really looking for them.
the announcer said something like "watch this one very closely" but I still didn't notice that - It was a very sad ending and it was left ambiguous as to
whether he'd killed the daughter - we're certainly supposed to think so with the blood and the "they should be together" line, but it then turns out to be the old uni mate - but is it just him?
Getting so much backstory, character and narrative - not to mention laughs, horror and  a twist ending - into a 30 minute one off is incredibly hard, and these guys manage it with consistency. Terrific stuff

magnetic screwdriver is your answer - I always had trouble with fiddly screws until I got one of these (or actually until a friend just magnetised a normal one) - pop the screw on the head and insert with the screwdriver

you used to able to order each box as a one-off (I got the one that had the PR Dredd badge), but looks like 3 is the minimum subscription now.

That's quite a list Marko - I'd add a couple more Dredd GNs: The Pit (A very nuts'n'bolts police procedural with a large cast of supporting characters) and Brothers of the Blood (stories about Dredd's 'family', mainly Vienna and Rico); plus every bookshelf should hold a copy of The Complete Halo Jones!

as to WHEN we might see Fire, that's a whole other can o' worms: 3A produce excellent items but only when they have tweaked and adjusted to satisfy their high quality demands. AFAIK they haven't yet worked out how they're going to do Fire without it looking crap (like 99% of all Human Torch figures) so whilst they've definitely said they're going to do it, it may be a while before pre-orders are taken, and then probably about another year after that before shipping.

LG and I just finished the fourth series of the Golden Girls. Despite being full of 80s TV pop culture references, being principally about privileged Miami pensioners and awash with inoffensive pastel colours this has aged brilliantly. The characters are strong, the morals are high (dealing with everything from addiction and homelessness all the way through to astonishingly mature debates of LGBT issues) and all four leads are astoundingly quick, making even the most obvious joke shine. I started watching the first series years ago due it being Mitch Hurwitz's first TV work and I thought it would be shite but honestly it has properly grown on me.

Then to find out there's a Golden Girls cafe opened up in New York.... hmmm

You could always get this monstrosity tattooed across your back like one dedicated fan did:

Also, the DVD I picked up from 101 contained Ghostwatch (1992), another under appreciated made for TV movie that really needs more love.

hah - wouldn't call it a classic (it's got Mike bloody Reid in it FFS) but I remember all the hoo-hah when that was first broadcast as thousands of outraged viewers rang to complain that they had been scared under false pretences!

Sorry, I was joking as Brian is infamous for being incredibly slow.

I liked the comment by John McCrea in the Meg about Dredd mega-epics (paraphrased) "usually there'd be a couple of McMahon episodes, one Bolland  and then Ron Smith would do six!"

I did enjoy RHLSTP (as all the cool kids are calling it) for a while but I'm starting to find him increasingly annoying and decreasingly funny - and as he digs deeper into his pool of comic mates, I find I've never heard of a lot of them.

If you're cherry-picking however, the Peter Serafinowitz one is a classic for his Star Wars stories.

Cannot fault my postie, brings it into the house and puts it in my hand most weeks (and often on a Friday).

You're having an affair with the postie aren't you?  ;)
