Cos I feel like crap - woke up with a sore throat, after about an hour at work had to go home as I was aching all over and doing the old shiver/sweat tango. Slept all afternoon, so I'm now likely to be up all night.

He was the voice of rugby for me

I've heard that phrase about a dozen times today - it's not the most imaginative nickname is it?

sad news about Kate McGarrigle though - that's some talented genes there.

Watch the last bit of Zulu for the roll call when the Colour Sergeant calls out the names and also the numbers of the soldiers where there are more than one with that surname.

:o You mean you've found a military film that actually meets your accuracy standards?

I can't help thinking that stretching the age limit only stretches out the years of stupid drinking - the longer it's 'cool' and 'rebellious' to get hammered on cider in wastegrounds, the longer you'll do it.

I noticed exactly this when I was at college in the States. All the 18-20 year olds drank like we did when we were 15-18 - ie spend an inordinate amount of effort actually working out how to get served, then neck as much as possible until you puke your brains out.

Still, I did find the old style paper driving licences handy over there (I was 20 at the time) - when doormen in bars attempted to 'card' me, I'd unfurl this massive sheet of paper (that they were amazed had no photo) and explain how you could work out my DOB by unscrambling the reference number. By this point they'd be so confused (and dazzled by my British accent), that they almost always waved me in!

Fair enough! I'm just coming to the conclusion that life's too short for DVDs. I've got a shelf full and hardly ever watch any of them. And I've never gotten around to the massive re-read of 30+ years of progs I've got stacked up, never mind the Shelf of Unread Novels and Non-Fiction. If the entertainment industries would just STOP MAKING NEW SHIT for a year, I may have a (small) chance of actually catching up!

which I've seen and wasn't impressed with ..... So I bought that too.
I don't get this - Why would you buy a film you weren't impressed with? Considering all the other DVDs, videos, books, records and comics you probably own, not to mention all the  new stuff constantly coming out, will you honestly EVER play this DVD?

Some of the evil shite coming out of the American right is really making my blood boil. Rush Limbaugh is saying Americans shouldn't donate one cent in aid as it's all some kind conspiracy on Obama's part to divert tax money to black people; and "man of God" Pat Robertson says it's all their own fault - apparently God's just getting his own back because the Haitians made a deal with the devil to overthrow slavery in the early nineteenth century.

That's a very dangerous way to handle a lightsabre.

Her thumbnail looks filthy.

SHE looks filthy (in a good way)

Anyway, lay off her, it's her birthday!

The sunglasses man is a viral ad for Raybans so may not even be a real tattoo. If it is real, I'm not sure what would make him a bigger twat - doing that for yourself and then pimping youself out, or letting some ad exec talk you into doing it for money.

Just WTF was Torchwood all about ??

   :o

Fucking unreal or completely surreal. Is it for children??

absolutely not. Dr Who's supposed to be for all the family, sarah Jane is aimed at kids and Torchwood aimed at an adult audience. Barrowman is supposedly a brilliant actor in musical theatre, but his mannerisms are just too big and overblown for television. He's a very funny interviewee however! He did a crap straight to video movie once and threw in an improvised, and totally innapropriate, line about eating pussy, purely to make his co-star laugh and put her at ease - unfortunately it made it into the final edit by accident.
