"be interesting to see how exactly they're gonna cram it all in"

Yeah, especially when scenes like Kennedy's assasination don't really feature for more than a panel in the comic.

Good to see real actors in real sets and locations though not just a load of green-screen.

"Wasn't the plot twist in V for V the book that V himself had access to Fate the computer and therefore had access to all the info and surveillance cameras that the leader had. That explained how easily V was able to bring down the government. He was always ahead."

Yeah it explains it but it was just a bit Deus Ex Machina as they say to throw in the fact that he's basically a computer hacker, it just doesn't seem his style, and there was no explaination of how he gained such access. It would also be more unconvincing today in a movie now we're all more used to the issues of computers and security. The same goes for the TV broadcasts he makes as well, hard to believe today. I think the better way to make the film would be to make out Britain has regressed back to the 50s somewhat as the government plays on the people's sense of nostalgia, and that totalitarianism has created an enormous beurocracy for V to tap into. The product-placed Dell computers and rolling news broadcasts didn't set well with the story.

"The problem with V is it didn't stick close enough to the book"

Going back to an old topic, I think that though the film version was never going to work as well as the book there are problems with the storyline of the book that one might not notice in the comic but you would in a film which is more grounded in the 'real' world, particularly the lack of interplay between V and the government and the ease with which V brings the government down remotely.

The best thing they could have done to make the film work better would have been to have given it more of a sense of fantasy - the comic's art may look gritty but it's disguising a wildly romantic idea.

"It's a masterpiece of satirical science fiction".

Well, there is one way of making it even better...

"Surely he never saw..."

But on the island he wouldn't have seen people dying, or felt the effects of the psychic shockwave. in fact what exactly did he see? Just some artist and scientists presumably but it isn't made clear.

The breakdown could be explained if he had got too close and been affected by some kind of test wave implanting some of the nightmarish images and thoughts after getting too close.

Good point about The Comedian's reaction it never worked for me either: he's seen far worse first hand in Vietnam and the 'plan' is less harrowing than the prospect of WW3 itself which he's used to facing all the time like everyone else.

I'm not sure Veldt's Gibbons costume is makeable - it looks like he's made of gold. His will be a hard role to pull off as he has to make the whole resolution convincing but by appearing smart not megalomaniacal.

I've said it before but the Silk Spectre actress' face is uncannily like the drawn character, and now even more so in costume.

Wow, stunning, I like it. Still think they should have been older actors though.

A close and valued friend of mine was in a bar and some terrible female singer started performing, while being grumpy with the audience between songs. Someone turned to my friend and said "She's a bit of a premadonna isn't she?".

My friend replied "She's not even a post-Madonna".

"Lino Richie"

Don't forget if you want to open a shop with a rock related pun you have to get down to Herman's Permits to complete the appropriate forms.
