General / Re: Judge Dredd Series?

I don't think Dredd will be coming to the screen again any time soon, though the internet is a possibility: I've recently been producing vector graphic characters for a promotional campaign. Once I'd got the hang of making them in vectors it occured to me that it was plausable to make graphics of characters in Judge Dredd and create a Flash animation. We already have Judge Dredd audio dramas such as the Big Finish ones, with their permission there's no reason why they couldn't be turned into episodes not unlike the  BBC Doctor Who online animations. Could be a fair amount of work but then Big Finish might also be interested in the results.

I'll clarify that - you get a film which in my opinion appeals only to the fans of the comic. Why would TV or film producers want to aim their product at such a small number of people? Comic fans are not very representative of a larger audience.

"isnt that the very reason why the first one failed- because it wasnt 'true' enough to the comic?"

That might be why it failed for you but it's only your assumption that it's why it wasn't a bigger hit commercially.

"I mean, look at Darth Maul. He was a baddy, no real background, in the film for about ten mins and blew everyone else away character wise."

But he's only a very small part of the film. The rest is psychobabble and points of reason behind everything, Maul is just the cherry on the cake. It's not everyone's favourite Star Wars film but I think you're taking for granted the drama that happens around him that makes his appearance work. Similarly, if Death was ever to appear in a film he would work far better if it were just a fleeting appearance toward the end, being used as a 'weapon' by a more human character rather than being the main villain, otherwise you've just got a film for fans of the comic.

"Ok you talking aabout a entity that can possess any person. If you blow away that person he finds a new person to inhabit.

Trouble is that's a very standard horror/sci-fi idea done countless times in movies. The things that makes it work on the page is the unique black humour of the 2000AD artists and writers which I personally don't think would transfer to the screen, and Judge Death just isn't one of 2000AD's most thought-provoking characters, not enough, I think, to hang a screenplay on.

I can't agree that the Dark Judges would be good villains on the screen. They completely lack depth or psychology - we like them in the comic for this exact reason though TV and film is about a different kind of drama and take outside its native format and without the spectacle afforded to it by the artist it would be simply Dredd vs a big spooky ghost. Especially so since it would probably be some guy in a mask or some dodgy CGI. This is also I think why they chose something more thematicly about justice for the film, otherwise why should anyone else see it any differently that Aliens vs Predator II (not that I've actually see that film, it just doesn't sound very much about characters).

"Personally I wouldnt be against a CGI version of Dredd for kids."

I think it would be good visually in the style of recent Batman/Justice League cartoons, though the problem would be: Guns.

There are some pretty inventive names for sexy spoofs of well-known films on our video shelves, for example The Bare Witch Project, Forest Hump, The Sperminator, though my personal favourite has to be:http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51BMQYVTRCL._SX220_.jpg">

Do we know what she is yet? Sexy Russian? Looks militaristic but I'm guessing it's not an official uniform.

New 'old-school' poster up, and it most definitely has an alien skull and inca temple on it.http://www.indianajones.com/site/media/downloads/posters/ij4-poster33.jpg">

The trouble with the second movie for me is that, as I remember it, after about the first half of the film there's hardly any dialogue amid the action and it become the proverbial 'fun-packed roller-coaster ride of a movie', quite literally in places. If I want a go on a roller-coaster ride I'll go to a theme park.

The third one wisely this, though almost went too far the other way - I could see it was good but I guess I just found the whole King Arthur/'complete the tasks' thing a bit cheesy. Still, full marks for not just re-running the first adventure for the sequels.

I thought of speed dating but was put off in the end by the commitment involved.

Ouch...well Octobriana was difficult to draw, primarily as I had neglected to learn to draw first!

Hardest things to draw in a comic in my experience:

A long table of people in a meeting
Attractive women
A valley of stampeding shapeshifting animals
