Midnights Edge discusses DREDD. Why it failed and it's sequel possibilities. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=76V0fczp3oA

Fascinating well worth a listen. If Death is to fanciful a villain for any sequel which antagonist would you pick for the sequel? Mean Machine Angel and his family from hell? Mutie Liberation Front and their obvious minority allegory? Or something new specifically made for the film?

Dredd appears down the bottom of this amazing poster along with Judge Anderson.

Crooks, particularly fraudsters are very persuasive since they've spent a lifetime perfecting the art of deceit.

What a picture Neil, that's some werewolf! The short, angry lines suit it perfectly.

X-MEN APOCALYPSE: Bit bonkers in part and the Egyptian setting seemed a little off kilter for me since the 'first mutant' would surely have appeared in the Stone Age but Apocalypse himself was nicely psychotic and the destruction rendered was a perfect image of what Donald Trumps White House will bestow on history. There's some bloody bits when Wolverine[Weapon X] is released on Stryker's soldiers who get bloodily stabbed to death [those with young families have been warned] while their erstwhile Leader legs it leaving his men to be duly wasted Moop troop style. The poorly received joke about the 3rd movie in any franchise being the worst one of the series I actually guffawed at but I'm shallow. Quicksilver seemed to get the best of this one, his rescue of Xavier's students from a big explosion is very well done though Magneto's story line seemed overly melodramatic with his human/mutant family wasted by bungling authorities. Didn't Magneto hate the human Race to begin with? The battle at the end was well staged and it was entertaining to see how Storm got her white hair- and how Professor X lost his. Fun but put into brain to neutral while watching.

Well even if the world is going to shit at least this last week has given me some positive assurance my life CAN get better. Besides now being employed the OU have accepted my application to study English Literature and Creative Writing Honours Degree starting in march. Really rather excited for this to say the least as i've felt like my educational life has been dead ever since leaving college. Hope at last!

Good for you. Will look out for your name on the Best seller lists!

Another great actor gone. I always remember him as the traumatized Gunfighter in The Magnificent Seven. Time passes on and takes us all in the end but this year has been one hell of a taker.

We're one of the last three or four generations of humanity as a species, maximum.  Only the anthropic principle stops that fact from sinking in.  I hope there's some other life left when we go; it'll be better off without us.

Humankind forever seems to be heading for destruction our culture is filled with doomsday scenarios but we are the great survivor outlasting Ice ages and sever climate change so we'll endure Trumpism.  Perhaps his success is an indication that the globalization as we have known it is either temporarily on hold, or indeed finished, it's contradictions and contrasts, extreme wealth at the top, very little at the bottom of the socio economic heap have done it to death. Resentment against the Political elites, anger at the top earners largess and a suspicion that mass immigration was really a way of downsizing host nations to provide a never ending cheap source of labour for the rich have been fatal for the current crop of politicians who spoke of a shared future for all.

Today has been a bad day. I'm sure glad I won't have to relive this day again- or this year.

The 'strong man' seems to be back in favour. Putin in Russia, Erdogan in Turkey, Duterte in the Phillipines and now Trump in America. These men all seem to share the same anti establishment claim that they're the solution to complex economic and social problems and they all use, or have threatened to use violent force in order to get their way. They have tapped into a bitter anti globalist mood that has swept the world since the 2008 crash. Attempts at consensus on Social rights, climate change etc will now be abandoned for pure economic self interest which might, ironically be a form of protectionism in all but name. The belief that globalization offered hope, work and prosperity for all looks dead and in the West multiculturalism will find itself facing a resurgent Nationalism with all the potential ugliness that entails. Grim.

Just waiting on everything starting to shimmer and waking up from a ugly dream.

'This ain't America anymore kid, this is Mega City One and you and your old man have got a lot to learn.' Ah Judge Dredd America. Might be a jump in the sales for that great book.

Cheers.  My favourite tweet I saw this morning...

One day we'll look back on this and laugh.  From our radiation huts on the edge of the mutant wasteland.

I 'm going to build a wall to keep those muties out! With my extra arms and limbs, all thanks to Trump's Nuclear tan it will be ready in no time.

She'd sound like Laura Croft rather than anyone else. I always thought Johnny Alpha spoke with a southern American accent. He was always saying 'Ma'am' and 'Sir' so I thought he was from there. Bonkers but true.
