Ulysses Sweet.  Big fan of the original run, "don't musc a movel" being an oft-repeated phrase round these parts,

Wasn't "Don't musc a movel" a line in a future shock about a time travelling potato from a future where all veggies are sentient? (that this is about a sentient potato is in no way connected to me being from Northern Ireland...)

Cheers, Mabs. Page 45 should be able to sort you out with the whole DS run, if no-one else can. They deliver fast and cheap too.

I don't know how Monsterology sells, but if comics were a meritocracy it'd be at the top of the charts.

Unaware of any pro level lettering tools available on the ipad (there are some fun things that can let you add lettering to create simple comics).

On the desktop, MS5 lets you do some lettering http://manga.smithmicro.com/buy.html (right now MS5 is $47,99) but doesn't have the advanced tools you'd want for kerning, sound effects, etc.

Jim, I'm sure will correct me, but if you're talking about proper pro level lettering it's pretty much dominated by the expensive adobe illustrator.

If you're talking non-pro level then I'd suggest doing it the old fashioned way : by hand...

Just like when Dredd runs out of ammo and when he doesn't (etc)

Whoah - are you saying I needlessly keep a tally of shits fired when I'm drawing dredd...?

Books & Comics / Re: Vote Numbercruncher!

Thanks all, and as a pathetic way for me to keep this post refreshed, just to let you know, that as well as being nominated for that Best Miniseries (YOU CAN STILL VOTE FOR HERE http://www.brokenfrontier.com/broken-frontier-awards-2013-vote-now/ ) Numbercruncher was also listed as one of the best Limited Series by Multiversity Comics http://multiversitycomics.com/columns/2013-in-review-best-mini-series/ and Uproxx.com has us down as one of the best comics of 2013. http://www.uproxx.com/gammasquad/2013/12/fifteen-best-comic-books-2013 (I think we're about 12 on that list...)

I just wish all this critical success meant we sold even decent numbers. Oh well!

Books & Comics / Vote Numbercruncher!
19 December, 2013, 10:59:35 AM
As they say round these parts, vote early! vote often!*

Numbercruncher is up for "Best Miniseries" at the website Broken Frontier.

http://www.brokenfrontier.com/broken-frontier-awards-2013-vote-now/

They've been generally very supportive of numbercruncher AND Dept of Monsterology, and, while I don't expect to win, it'd be nice to try...!

(*only joking, vote early, but vote once. But tell your friends and make sure they vote too!)

Trev, I think you'd benefit from posting these pages up when you feel they're completed, then you'll get a fair shake on the comments. I realise it'd be awesome to get that guidance and help as you draw the pages, but honestly, it's a lot easier for everyone if what you post are either completed inks.

Back when 2000ad went full colour, I think they introduced a process whereby b&w lineart would be reproduced on clear acetate and the line art would be reproduced in blue line printed on art paper - so you could paint on the blueline and overlay the line art.

Whether that's how John does his work, I've no idea, but certainly that was one method used.

Got to keep in mind: Diamond shipped 1 a week early, and 2 shipped about 2 weeks early ... so it's probably a longer gap than it should be!
