Aye, I know.  See what I find out tomorrow and go from there.  She's retiring at the end of term anyway but it depends on what was in it.

Legally they have to be accurate and factual so yes it is possible for an employer to give you a bad reference.  The current head is not exactly the most approachable person and she has done it to several other people.  The new head said that it was something that we could discuss when we meet.

Wait and see I guess.

Considering some of the news on the board this weekend this definitely comes under the heading of 'minor'.

Had a job interview on Thursday but got cut loose after the lesson.  Fair enough, thanks for not wasting my time.  Feedback was useful.  Out of the blue I get an email from the head to say that they would like to offer a temporary contract and would I come in talk about it.  The original post was permanent but curious to know what had changed.  Agree to meeting to discuss it since it doesn't commit to anything.  Further email from the head with more feedback, including the fact that my current head did not provide a particularly good reference.   :|

Positive feeling about offer vs negative reference.

... but for some reason the Brexit camp don't seem too keen on talking about the downside of trade deals that benefit the richest, victimise the poorest, and effectively destroy workers' rights and the power of unions.

Mainly because a lot of those that are in the BREXIT camp are a) amongst those most likely to benefit from TTIP and b) most interested in victimising the poorest and effectively destroying workers rights?

TTIP is a bloody scary piece of legislation which for some reason the Tories want to keep quiet about.  Not sure why?  <thoughtful hmmmm>

... and once more back to the film (or trailer).

Okay so that is a better job to be sure.  Pacing, content, imagery.  I have to admit I'm more inclined to wait largely because the sort of humour that many of those involved in this tend towards just doesn't appeal to me.

That said, my preference is for the original MASH and Monty Python so I guess that was pretty much inevitable.  Hey ho.

Much better trailer for sure.  This current incarnation is a very different beast to the one we grew up with but that is not necessarily a completely bad thing.  Enough to go screaming out to see it?  Nah.  Still looks like video fodder.

The comments under the video really are interesting though, you're right.  I'd never really paid much any attention to youtube comments before.  The level of sophistication, the clarity of thought, the wit and satire, ... Ah who am I kidding?  Please tell me those people don't breed.

Dredd and Lawless are definitely the highlights for me in the meg at the moment.  I'm in the ROTD? Meg, camp.  Sorry, just not clicking for me.  Other folk like it? Fine.  Just not me.

Blunt gets off to an okay start.  I'd agree that there are a lot of cliche's in it but hey, maybe it will go somewhere unexpected.  Still, not hideous.

Nice to see Second City Blue's getting a re airing.  Has to be one of the hidden gems of that era.  If I remember rightly though I ended up making a lot of comparisons with DC's Deadenders at the time, mainly because of Pleece's art work.

There are never any decent words.  Just because we don't know people well, doesn't mean they don't affect us in some way.  I always think it is one of the ways we honour those who pass away.  The hole they leave is an acknowledgement that they were someone and they mattered.

Kind of puts my failed job interview in perspective.

Hang in there.

General / Re: 1981 covers

I'm getting close to 1981 with my prog slog.  Man there is some damn fine stuff there.  1980 was a pretty good year for the tooth in general but '81?  The artist list is the cream of the crop and there are so many iconic covers there.  For me Wilsons' 237 is the prog I remember most strongly.  Always loved the intricacy of his artwork, so technically precise.  That would be my choice.

Toss up between 222 and 239 though?  Yeah, I'd go with 239.

I managed to limp on to the end of the Azarello run.  After that I gave up.  Looking at this I am sooooo glad I have never felt the temptation to return.

DC should really reconsider giving editorial control to their work experience students.

Shit man, just .... Sorry.

There are never the right words for this sort of situation.

Our heartfelt condolences to you and everyone affected by this, pretty sure this comes from everyone on the board.

Missionary Man...what to say.  The character seems interesting but at the same time I feel like I've missed certain things.  This might be because there are still two preceding volumes to come out.

I flicked through and read the text pieces and parts of the Redondo one.  Then I decided, for the first time in the series, to wait until I had the two preceding volumes and read them in order.

I guess the thing we need to remember with HellTreckers is that it is very much of it's time.  Although tooth was growing up, it was still aimed primarily at kids and written with that in mind.  Granted the calibre of story telling was much more mature and you very rarely saw so many cliches thrown together in one story.

Dredd this could be a very interesting turn of events with
texas City and elements of Brit cit working together ?
The TC reveal was not completely surprising.  I think most of us were in the 'Beware of Greeks bearing gifts' camp.  As to your other theory, it does seem sensible.  Where would the greatest threat to any plot come from?  Take that player off the board and leave Hershey seemingly weakened.  Would Joyce then simply be collateral damage and the extradition just a convenient excuse?  Having listened to Carroll on the podcast I'm reading his work slightly differently now.  I really do hope that he can land this one well.

Considering where you are, not sure I'd use the word 'dreaming'!

I've done this as well.  It is really freaky.  Woke up and saw daylight when I was expecting it to still be dark.  There was something wrong though with the light and it really threw me.  Panicked that I was that late for work.  When I got downstairs my wife looked at me like I was nuts.  It was only about eight o'clock.  That was why the sunlight was odd, it was coming from the wrong side.  Kicked up to bed again.

Don't mind waking up a little bit early.  Got to be careful though.  Too early and I either can't get back again or if I do then I go back too much and when the alarm goes off I'm really groggy.
