It's a great shame Moebius never got to work on 2000AD at any point, working on Metal Hurlant such as he did.

Geez, could you imagie Termight drawn by Moebius?! Dear lord that would have been magnificent. :o

In many respects the world of the Incal is very similar but yes, that is definitely a loss.  At least we had Colin Wilson on Rogue Trooper.  There are aspects of his work that are not wholly dissimilar.  Not completely surprising since he has done so much work in French, including on Blueberry.  Into the Shadow of the Sun: Rael is well worth a look at and not too expensive. The first in a trilogy that was unfortunately never completely translated from the French.  Although the plot is somewhat straightforward it is the perfect showcase for Wilson's artwork.

Just back from a long evening in A&E after getting hit by a car .... I reckon I'll ache like buggery in the morning!

This puts my Rotator Cuff injury to shame.  Sympathies to you sir.  Hope you get well soon.

In the absence of a contract to say otherwise I think that's basically right - but I'm no expert, and I told him as such.

With the usual I am not a lawyer disclaimer, I believe the basic principle of UK copyright law is very straightforward: if you create it, the copyright is yours unless another party can produce a piece of paper with your signature at the bottom assigning the copyright to someone else.

(Lack of such a piece of paper was the reason we didn't see a reprint of Zenith for twenty-five years.)

Cheers

Jim

Sorry to dredge this up but just wanted to make the following observation.  One of the things I was looking into a year or so ago was ownership of work.  This was related to, of all things, lesson plans (don't ask).  What I learnt from my research was that if you complete something whilst in the direct employment of someone then that work belongs to the employer and not you.  The key point being 'direct employment'.

Didn't someone once say 'as one door closes so another opens'?

Hang in there sir, no doubt something far better and healthier will come along.

Fraternising with the antichrist!  You will burn!

Spoilers!!

Looks like our man
Joyce
has went the same way! But no blue lights...

On a reread I felt like the action there was ahead of the motorcade rather than in't.  Willing to be corrected though.

Prog / Re: Prog 1978 - outer dark

I think the response in Damage Report about the cover ideas was bang on:  4 months of it could get old quickly.  Also, do we really want covers to remind us of some of the dark days of the nineties?

I have to agree on Dredd: okay as it goes.  Bit of a LOL moment with the House of Commons scene - Big Dave's Pork Pies.  Sorry but it did tickle.

Brink does a reasonable job setting the scene.  See where it goes.

As for the rest of the prog.  Not quite bad for a 'meh' personally but not raving either.

If it is that could really work... well as long as he doesn't  get all Dinosity (or whatever it was called) on us. Really hope he sticks to his black and white work for interiors.

Aye, his B&W work has not been too bad.  A massive improvement on the CGI stuff.  It's great for cover work but a complete mess for me as a narrative form.  I do think it's half the reason I've lost the plot with ABC.

Got my charity bid all lined up and waiting.  Will join the last two year's FCBD charity signed progs if successful.

Film & TV / Re: Last movie watched...
16 April, 2016, 02:22:37 PM
I've not seen the film adaptation but I've read the novel.  Spent years searching for it.  Finally found a 2nd hand copy and all of a sudden it were everywhere!   :|

It's pretty much what you expect for the time and genre.  A nice easy read and an easy riff on Cain and Able.  I wouldn't mind watching the film version some time to see what they've made of it.

Off Topic / Re: RIPs

I was debating whether to post this in the 'What's Everyone Reading' thread since it comes from a rereading of Snuff and is probably somewhat belated but considering that they are building a statue to Sir Terry I thought that the following quote from Snuff would be the most appropriate as text:

"You are a great man, commander, and I hope that they put up a statue to you!"
"Oh dear, I hope not! You only get a statue when you're dead!"

We have too many of these great artists to be thankful to.

.... A better use of pages than most crossovers.

And Mr Flint on art duties.  Don't forget Mr Flint on art duties!

I'm in the 'IDW Dredd, mmm' camp I'm afraid.  I'll have a squizz when it's finally out and see what it looks like but you can't mess with perfection (or as near as it gets so long as nobody mentions the summer offensive ... ah bugger!)
