I have managed to collect nearly all bar this volume.  Does anyone have a copy that they would be willing to part with.  I managed a scour of the central London comic shops last month and managed to get the last volume but not this one.  Repeated eBay and amazon searches are coming up dry.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a copy...

I've got a set of the fleet way reprints if you want.  Surplus to requirements now that I've managed to complete my Crisis collection.

Erm, why has some forumbot taken to having half my post scored out?

Anyway, still looking for news on the commemorative edition, anyone have any ideas?

Aye, I was interested in this as well.  Found this. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/05/05/charleys-war/

Looks like they are just slip casing the already printed editions.  Tempting.

Can't recall the individual in the message though.  Could do with going back and tracking that down.

Gideon was mentioned last week, he freed the slaves underground I believe.

How quickly they forget... Gideon Dallas was the fella who led the Goblin King's slave workers in rebellion when Dredd, Pax and Joyce went down into the Undercity earlier in the year. He featured briefly in Traumatown, too, so it's not as though the Carroll hasn't done his best to keep him in people's minds. Don't know where the idea that this is the conclusion comes from either Tim, seems pretty clear that it continues next week.

Sorry, been away and only dropped back in briefly before heading out again.  Guess I read it a bit too quickly.  You are absolutely correct, it does continue.  Mind you the way the episode finishes does read like one of Wagner's conclusions.  Leaving everything dangling for a later story.  Might have been a better way to run it.  See how things pan out.  Apologies to anyone for my confusion.

Remember the undercity tale now.  Sorry state of affairs when you have a better recall of old tales than more recent ones.  Guess the overload of the prog slog is getting to me.  Currently on Day of Chaos.

Definitely an apt title for this week.  Interesting cover by Jake Lynch.

Dredd - concluding Cascade.  My copy must have been a dodgy print judging by the washed out look on the first page.  Marshal on art duties is a pleasure as always.  Carroll does what he always does best, viewing mega city from an outsiders perspective.  Conclusion looks like it is setting up the next step in the arc started at the end of call of duty.  Can't recall the individual in the message though.  Could do with going back and tracking that down.

Aquila - barrelling along nicely.  Gallagher's art is a pleasure as always.

Brass Sun - really enjoying this and looking forward to reading it complete.

Black Shuck - not really getting this though.  See where it is going before reaching a final conclusion.  Yeowal on art duties is helping with the perseverance.

Jaegir - now this is where Rogue Trooper should have been taken a long time ago.  Coleby on art is a perfect match.  O'grady's colours do the artwork justice.

No love for the Rogue Trooper annual? Or Starlord 1981 (which, IIRC, has a Dredd story in it)?

The Rogue Trooper Annual was not one of the best. Towards the end of the hardback annuals where what little love there was was diminishing rapidly.   The Starlord's are nice and well worth a read (as is the whole run that has not spiked in value for some reason even with the free gifts)  but you may be thinking of the 1980 (or 1979) Dan Dare annual that had a Dredd strip in.  If you haven't read it I wouldn't panic too much.  I need to look at replacing my 1981 Dredd Annual.  Looking a little well read!

Most of it is reprint material anyway. Worth owning for completists sake?  I wouldn't have said so.  The non reprint strips tend to be ok but nothing spectacular.

Didn't they reprint the Dredd in one of the Specials collections recently?

QuoteDisposable Heroes sells them cheaply at the time if you can't make it.

Tried that one this year.  Never showed.  emailed them a few times asking.  First one got a reply ... give it time.  Then nowt.  Only 99p so no major fowl (sic).  Would recommend Place in Space.  Used them quite a few times for one offs.  Very good service and reasonable prices.

I have to be honest I've been contemplating cancelling my subscription for a while.  Whilst it improved from the early issues where it appeared to be largely a clone of SFX with an unhealthy obsession with the film versions, I felt that it never really achieved it's full potential.  As a monthly / quarterly / whatever title it could never focus on current / upcoming titles but considering the rich history of comics on both sides of the atlantic I felt that it quite often skimmed the surface.  A classic example was it's review of Starlord(UK) which ran to a scant two or three pages.  The meg has done a far better job over the years in it's profiles of titles, story lines and writers and artists.

Charles Stross' latest Laundry novel, The Rhesus Chart.  In the same vein (excuse the pun) as his other Laundry novels.  Enjoyable, fast paced, plenty of black humour.  I guess I've been working for the government for too long since what he tries to present as a mickey take is way too close to reality on the mindless bureaucracy side of things.

A new movie-Dredd strip starts, not with Henry Flint this time but I like the art all the same.

I was in two minds when I first heard that Flint was not on art duties on this but reading it, I thought it was a good first episode and Davidson's art was well suited.

Overall this was a good meg for my money.  Month til the next one seems a long wait, which must be a good sign.
