I've put a bid in on the Dante page, it'll go nice next to my Simon Frasier Dante page.

Do you offer board member discount?  ;) lol

Was looking at that and sorely tempted even though I already have a couple of Adlard's pieces courtesy of Mr Dale, glad I didn't (although Mr Simeon may not agree with me on this).  Was tempted by some of Dale's Mcneil and Elson pieces (not to mention that Ron Turner piece that went for just shy of £400) but summer entertainment is currently taking priority.  Perhaps if I can shift the post ban Action's that I am currently selling I will have to make enquiries, knowing of his fondness for not expanding ebay / paypal's coffers any more than needed.

Cheers, so to re-cap, i'll have Megs 316 - 319 & 322, 323.

So 6 megs X 75p = £4.50

Just stuff em all in a jiffy bag and let me know what postage is!

Thanks  :D
I hope a bit more care is taken of such valuable items than 'just stuff[ing] them' in a jiffy bag! :P

It's only the progs from June. I wish it were 20 years of progs.

Oh no, you have to go back further.  Last ten years epic stuff.  Skip the nineties and the summer offensive but from the time Rebellion took over .....  sell a kidney time!

A grand selection of those gorgeous old Titan reprint books. Sent to me, for nowt, by a fellow CAF'er - and 2000ad fan (dont think he posts on here...).

So a nice re-read of the VC's (books 1 and 2) tonight.

Now that really is sharing the love! I must add VC's to my list, which I shall probably get to in about 2016!

I have to admit to an affection for the ongoing series over recent years.  Unlike the Rogue Trooper reboots this was one series that definitely did not outstay its welcome.  The first are definitive classics but the subsequent series are definitely worth the time.

On the non graphic front enjoying Stross' Neptune's Brood. In the same miluea as Saturn's Children.  Prefer his Laundry Stuff but very little of his that falls into the 'why did I bother' category.

Personally those early progs carry a tinge of nostalgia when i reread them as I tend to remember them the first time round as a sprog.  I have a guilty affection for Death Planet despite it being trite and cliched and the same goes for Ant Wars.  The one I could never get into was Inferno.  The whole future sports thing just went straight past me.

What I do find interesting though is comparing it with some of the other titles from around the same time.  Action, despite its reputation, never quite seems to hit the same level even with the pre ban stuff.  When you look at Battle around the same time although there was some cracking stuff and some first rate art work there was also some complete dross.  For all it's faults at the time tooth was fairly consistent and generally of a very high standard.

I'm in a bit of a quandry on this at the moment.  One the one hand the colouring adds a nice new dimension to this.  Comparing it with the originals there seems a conscious choice to go for a different feel to it.  The Bolland cover works reasonably well but not so sure about the background colour.  Lacks the menace of the original.  There are times when the artwork seems a bit blurred compared to the original or the Titan reprint.  What did surprise me was how it seemed to shift for the Ron Smith pages.  Considering how claustrophobic Mcmahon's part seemed at times the dark and moody colouring worked better here for me than it did on the Smith pages.  I can't quite put my finger on what it is that seems slightly out of kilter and that bothers me.  Overall it has been a good job but I don't know if I would go with 'stunning'.

last copy on ebay went for about £50.  Managed to snag one for £30 a while back but that was just being lucky.  This one is not coming up too often at all.  That said, a lot of the content is already on the web either on the sevenpenny nightmare http://sevenpennynightmare.co.uk/?page_id=260 website.  Certainly a lot of the strips such as the ending of the Kids Rule OK strip.

it is a challenge based on what we have here.  Would say with reasonable certainty that it is not pre 300 tooth as I'm in the midst of a prog slog.  Post 300 doesn't ring any bells but since it's been a while would be cautious.  Looking at the content which seems to be mainly about youth offending / homelessness (possibly).  One of those panels looks like it might be a prison cell.   This would suggest titles such as Eagle, Battle, Action, Valiant, Scream, Tiger ... Again going on the back of recent reading it is not pre ban Action or pre Action Battle.  Nothing leaps to mind from the eighties Eagle either.

Surprisingly there is very little on the web about Mr Cooper.  I found a journal interview that had been reprinted in a number of places that mentions that he drew Grange Hill at one point.  The other strip mentioned was Goulmouth for RoTR.

I know this is probably not a massive amount of help as it is a lot of negatives.

Waldorf & Mutch were great characters, reminded me a bit of Brand and Brass and also of Mr Neat and Mr Tidy from that seminal classic "Mr Messy" of the Mr Men stable.

Maybe I'm showing my age a bit here but they put me very much in mind of the two killers from Diamonds are Forever (Wint and Kidd) although I can also see the Brand and Brass analogy (which of course would also be a sign of the same issue).

Loved the cover tagline this week, very fitting tribute to the recent passing of a true 'legend'.

I'm quite taken with this new direction for Dredd.  Reminiscent of the post Apocalypse War days but also tying in nicely with the film vision of the Judges as not quite so powerful.  The touch with the elderly cit looking forward to being cubed really summed up the loss of authority and stands in stark contrast with the perception shown back in the day in stories like Alone in the Crowd (prog 205 if memory serves).  Ditto for the loss of PSU.  I get the feeling it was starting to get a bit out of hand as a plot device.

£100 payable on order in July or on despatch in Dec?

The Nemesis Colour Collection was pay up front and then wait.
They normally do pay up front and wait.

On subject of price £100 is not far off the DC absolute editions.

Where are buying those from!?  :o I've never paid more than £60...

arguably £60 is not far off £100 but if you look at some of the hard to find ones such as Planetary or LOEG then well over £100 is not outside the realms of possibility.  Granted it is not that common for initial listings to be that high but some folks have tried.  Personally never paid more than £60 but there is the advantage of them being listed on multiple sites to bring down the price.

On subject of price £100 is not far off the DC absolute editions, the Martha Washington hardback was about this price as well and the same is true of the Walking Dead slipcase GN's.  That said they do tend to have a range of extras to justify the extra price.  Somehow though I doubt an intro by the writer / artist or a signed and numbered edition is going to be forthcoming.  Shame really.

it sounds pretty close to the orginal... and nothing like that pile o pish overdrawnout CGI'd car chase that was the second Total Rocall, who would have thought back in the eighties that an Arnie version would be better of two films?

tried the remake the other night.  Turned off after half an hour.

Quotewhich is only accessible from specialist stores populated by disinterested staff who will look at you like shit they found on their shoe if they deem you not to be a 'serious' fan.

It's not just those that are not considered a 'serious' fan that get this treatment.  As a longtime reader I have recently stripped back to just tooth courtesy of such treatment from the establishment in which I would regularly spend a not inconsiderable amount of money.  Glad to see that they can afford to treat regular customers with disregard as well as the casual.  :|
