Prog / Re: Prog 1806: World Building

BAh! Had to wait until today to get me prog as I was a bit under the weather yesterday. Again very good super Dredd and ABC and Brass Sun keep getting better but Simping was just on top form such a great character matched by the art. Low Life also sublimely good.

That pizza trumpet and the other pizza looks very nice. And the increasingly wild shirts should mean so called fashionistas and foodies should visit this thread AND WORSHIP.

Found some of the Dredd panels a bit confusing but needed another quick read. Brass Sun turned into the huge info dump but ABC was impressive although how do you kill an ABC robot? Anyway Low Life was tops with some fabulous digs at the uber rich. Simping was good but not quite so atmospheric as the first episode.

Megazine / Re: MEG 329 - UNHOLY TERRORS

Another good Meg. Ratfink art I wasn't so keen on the first page for some reason but the rest was excellent. Haven't read the short story as yet.Anderson was also good and along with Ratfink had bits in the undercity. yay!

Killer Elite was my fave with more bonkers killers a blasting each other and Dreddy showing them who was boss. Nice creepy last panel like in the first Dredd story.

I dreamt last night I was reading a completely fictitious twoothy with Ron Smith b&w art.The only bit I can remember clearly was a page chock full of 70's zeffa cars all crashed in some sort of Termight/MC-1 style under tunnel with another car falling through a hole on top. I could clearly see a hand pushed out of a broken window with the classic AAHH! emerging from whoever was within. There was also a charcater in another panel in black armour with a brain in a large oval jar that extended way beyond the confines of a normal human and had a sort of black squarish face with lights like eyes on it. I know part of the tale was ww2 commandes of a Dirty Dozen variety veing sent into the future to blast villainy. That will teach me to watch Prometheus and munch too many hoisin duck crips.

Ow! :o

Prometheus. Um what can I say? it didn't really work for me for example and a biologist walking away from the corpse of the an extraterrestrial -uh, no way man. What the hell was the beginning about where the Engineer equivalent of a pot noodle accidentally brings about humanity? A cosmic joke indeed.

I loved the design and bits of tech/ kit but mini cthulhu to giant facehugger just made me laugh, as did the ending. The actors struggled gamely with the deranged script Fassbender on good form but CT was even more robotic and she was human. The Captain and crew at least had a good send off and a few good lines.

It made $400 million according to imdb.

so much good stuff there it's almost difficult to know where to begin wiv da praise. loved the b&w illo "bloke in a bar" don't know what it's from but it got me thinking who is his guy? what's he waiting for? (service probably from the newspaper reading barman  :D). Really lovely piece.

Turns out it's my old man. He died two years ago this March and as much as I hate to perpetuate any cliches about Irishmen loving the aul booze too much, well...

Won't bore you all with the details but he fell outside his local pub and went into the hospital on what turned out to be one-way trip.

The thing that inspired me/chilled me to the bone was when meself and my brother went down to his local to tell people. The barman pointed (almost proudly, I might add) at a collection of walking sticks hanging over the bar of past patrons who had also died in or around the pub. Thought he was joking at first and he's all "No, sure you can see their names on the sticks if you want". Don't think I've ever sank a pint of Guinness as fast as I did after that... Haha!

Crikey!  :o :o :o
