All righty, folks... It's 04:04 in the morning (the time at which I normally go to bed) and Leonia and I are now up, awake, packed and ready, and very soon will depart on a Grand Epic Journey that promises to treat us to Thrills, Excitement, Unknown Wonders and Exotic Strangers!
And after we get to the airport, we're going to Bristol!

Sounds interesting, but it may be a dash to get there after the 2000ad panel at noon in the Ramada.

Admittedly it's been a while since I read it, but I remember thinking America was a great read because of how different Dredd and his world seemed compared to everything else I read before. Yeah, we all know Dredd's a hard bastard, but in this one, seeing him from the point of view of Beeny, made him a completely unlikable monster. Sure, he came off like a fascist, but that was the point. We were seeing Dredd from the point of view of someone who's afraid of him. And I think Beeny being a wimp was the point, too. He was the average guy who just wanted to stay out of trouble who saw the woman he loved completely ideologically opposed to what he feared the most. He needed to be a wimp so that his point of view wouldn't overpower the two characters we were seeing through his eyes.
I wasn't as big a fan of the second America story, though. To me it felt like a sequel for the sake of being a sequel, and that Bennett Beeny came off very creepy. I do like that we got Judge Beeny out of it, though, as she's a character I've grown to like quite a bit. I'm glad they didn't completely forget about her after this story came out.

I listened to this in the wee hours this morning and I have to say, the girls opening gambit had me in stitches!
