Any idea what the timeline is in the movie, I would accept this as an alternative near future earth 30-40 years into the future rather than 2133AD. Does it mention anything in the script?

Dont seem to recall any specific date in the script but I hope they don't cop out and do a near
Future version. All these new fangled ideas second guessing the original vision of
Dredds world is getting me worried.

yeah, at the Oxfam thang on Saturday Andy Diggle said of the rushs he and Jock saw something along the lines of 'its very Noir-Dredd, no flying cars or robots' This remembered through a haze of Guniness so appolies if not spot on  :-[ but you get the drift

Yeah, I think if you come into it expecting YOUR vision of Dredd you'll be sorely disappointed. But Dredd's been a lot of different things over the years. This is just one vision of him.

(on a side note: I'm kind of done with comics to movie adaptations - I'll see dredd multiple times, I'm sure - but about 70% of what's important to me in comics is the art, and that's totally gone in any movie)

I have to admit, even though I like what I see in the new photos it would be very disappointing if they took the sci-fi out of this version of Dredd for the sake of realism. If it just comes down to the limitations of the budget its understandable that they'd tone things down slightly, but I still think  sci-fi and horror can be made realistic and believable on a low budget. The prime example would be Alien.

If the dark judges were treated in a logical way in any sequels I think it could work. E.g Mutant/PSI/Judges in a death cult.

I'll have to get Empire now.

Fair enough perhaps more news to come. I'll be lurking.

It could also mean that nobody gives a shit about this movie but us.

Almost two years after filming began. Lots of post production time, that might be a good thing.

He's been directing it for years...after he split up with Diane Lane of course.

QuoteDanny Cannon dated Diane Lane in the past, but they broke up in 1996. Danny Cannon dated Diane Lane for 2 years. Danny Cannon is currently available.

Danny Cannon is currently single. He has been in one celebrity relationship averaging approximately 2.0 years. He has never been married.

What is amazing is that he was still going out with Diane Lane for a year after the release of Judge-not-quite-Dredd.
Wonder if he got her to wear the uniform at home...?

Is this thread beginning to show signs of eating itself like all the other ones?

QuoteI've been trolling Google news myself and every so often you'll see something truly bizarre...

QuoteKarl Urban? No!! I had no idea they were remaking this. I would venture to guess this is going to be even more ridiculous than the original, but at least the original had Stallone. Pass.

He's probably American.

Checking the news on a few other sites it looks like the general consensus is the  uniform is well designed but helmet does seem quite big.

It'll be interesting to see the first trailer.

Its probably the reason they've held off on pictures for so long, knowing it looks a bit questionable as a still image and out of context. Anticipating the tirade of bitching that'll come out of the forums.

The uniform looks perfect  to me so far. More like the classic Ezquerra design which makes total sense. The helmet's good too but it still looks pretty big from this angle. I'm sure there's a practical reason for that though  - it's a biker helmet after all.

A tie-in game would be cool, but I can't imagine a property like Dredd would warrant a full release in this day and age, where game budgets are increasingly prohibitive. Perhaps a simple download-only Dredd game for XBLA, PSN, WiiWare or iOS?

Wasn't it mentioned that there is definitely a new Judge Dredd game being developed by Rebellion to coincide with the release of the film?
